We won’t allow N-power personnel as poll officials –Wike Published January 22, 2019 Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike Chukwudi Akasike, Port Harcourt The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has said the state will not allow the use of N-power personnel as the Independent National Election Commission ad hoc staff during the 2019 general elections. Wike, who made this remark while addressing a PDP campaign rally at Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area on Monday, explained that the N-power list was concocted to favour the All Progressives Congress with a view to rigging the elections. He said, “I hear INEC wants to use N-power personnel as ad hoc staff for the elections. This is a ploy to rig the elections. N-power personnel will not be allowed to serve as INEC ad hoc staff in Rivers State. If you bring them, we will chase them away.” The governor said Nigerians should share in the blame of allowing a man without knowledge of the economy to emerge as the nation’s President. He said, “The mass unemployment across the country is due to the emergence of (President Muhammadu) Buhari. All Nigerians should share in the blame for their suffering. We took our future and mandate and handed them over to people who don’t understand job creation.” Wike charged the people to vote for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for his understanding of the economy and ability to create jobs. He said, “All his life, Atiku Abubakar has been involved in job creation. He is one of the highest employers of labour in Nigeria.” READ ALSO: ‘Buhari has already won February election’ While urging the people to vote for all PDP candidates, Wike said that during his second term, he would construct Omerelu and Omagwa internal roads. Speaking, the Rivers State PDP chairman, Felix Obuah, performed the traditional handing over of flags to the PDP candidates, just as he appealed to the people of the area to remain steadfast. Sheikh’s fatwa by Chaithanya 2 days ago 623 SHARES Share Tweet Share this on WhatsApp Saudi Grand Mufti Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah has issued a new fatwa, saying men in Saudi Arabia “can eat their wives if they are suffering severe hunger”, as reported by the Mirror. The ruling is said to highlight the “sacrifice of women and obedience to her husband”. On the contrary, human right activists are extremely angry by the fatwa. Share Credits: Arab News The fatwa guidelines permit a husband to eat his wife’s body parts in extreme circumstances. Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah had previously sparked huge controversy when he called on all churches to be completely destroyed under the Islamic law. However, Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh has opposed issuing such a fatwa. His statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) says “attempts by enemies to distract society from their main cause at the moment, which is standing together behind our wise leadership against attempts to distort the ummah [the world’s Muslims].” It should be noted that the news of the fake fatwa was first mentioned in a ‘sarcastic column’ written by a satirist Moroccan blogger called “Israfel al-Maghribi”, reports the CNN Arabi. Jeff Bezos’ texts to Lauren Sanchez reportedly include nude pics By Ruth Brown January 10, 2019 | 4:25pm Jeff Bezos Jeff Bezos Getty Images Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos sent a picture of his privates and other sleazy selfies to his mistress while cheating on his now soon-to-be-ex-wife, according to a new report. The tech tycoon sent the close-up of his junk and several shirtless shots to TV anchor Lauren Sanchez months before the new couple says they started dating in “the fall” after separating from their respective spouses, according to the National Enquirer. The tabloid, which didn’t publish any of the racy images, says one shirtless photo sent June 1, 2018, had a message reading: “You know what I want? I want to get a little drunk with you tonight. Not falling down. Just a little drunk. I want to talk to you and plan with you. Listen and laugh … I basically WANT TO BE WITH YOU!!! Then I want to fall asleep with you and wake up tomorrow and read the paper with you and have coffee with you.” In a response to the Enquirer, Bezos’ lawyer said he “supports journalistic efforts and does not intend to discourage reporting about him.” Bezos on Wednesday announced he’s divorcing his wife of 25 years MacKenzie Bezos — right before Page Six revealed that he is now dating Sanchez, the wife of A-list Hollywood talent mogul Patrick Whitesell. The Bezoses were spotted celebrating their wedding anniversary at a Miami nightclub in September, sources say — but the Enquirer says it has sexts from Jeff to Sanchez dating as far back as April. A source close to Bezos told The Post Wednesday, “Jeff and MacKenzie tried very hard to work things out. They separated last year, then Jeff and Lauren started dating. McKenzie knew they were dating, the news today was not a surprise to her. Lauren was with Jeff at the Golden Globes because they are dating.” |
Saudi Arabia Introduces New Regulations for Early Marriage Thursday, 10 January, 2019 - 09:15 Dammam – Iman Al Khataf Members of the Saudi Shoura Council on Wednesday approved fresh regulations for minor marriages that will see to outlaw marrying off 15-year-old children and force the need for court approval for those under 18. Chairman of the Human Rights Committee at the Shoura Council, Dr. Hadi Al-Yami, said that introduced controls were based on in-depth studies presented to the body. He pointed out that the regulation, vetted by the Islamic Affairs Committee at the Shoura Council, has raised the age of marriage to 18 and prohibited it for those under 15. Wedlock for those within the 15-18 age group will be subject to regulations and must seek authorization by the judiciary, Yami explained. He pointed out that the new regulations are meant to protect Saudi families and reduce the high rate of divorce, saying that “early marriage sometimes can cause health problems and increase the chances of divorce.” Khalid al-Fakhri, a member of the National Society for Human Rights, said the mentioned stipulations are “in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child signed by Saudi Arabia and with the country's child protection system that specifies marriage contracts including those aged less than 18, which need to take place at a specialized court.” Legal aid Mohammed al-Wahibi confirmed that early marriage is one of the prominent factors leading to a spike in divorce rates, since the individuals entering the union, whether it be the female or male, do so with a minimal understanding on the responsibilities entailed. |

Can you see, Ganduje is dying... |
Loooooong ago I worked in a bank as a customer service representative (teller). Each night, after closing, we had to balance our drawers and ‘sell’ excess denominations to the head teller. We were a commercial bank, in a mall, meaning we took huge deposits from most of the shops in and around the mall. At Christmas time it was not unusual for me to have close to half a million in just my drawer. (My drawer consisted of the actual drawer I had out front with the customers and a small safety deposit box type safe in the main vault.) I tell you all this so you have a little idea how things work and the volume of cash we dealt with. Here comes a new employee, she wasn’t very friendly to the rest of us but, since she was in the window next to, I was supposed to help her out. Every day she struggled to balance. Us old timers had learned to do a midday balance when it was slow so that, if you were out of balance, you had time to look for the problem and, if you balanced at midday but not at end of day, you knew the problem was after a certain point. I suggested this approach to her so that we wouldn’t all be standing around every night waiting for her to balance. One day, very early in her career, she balanced pretty quickly for her and everyone happily went home. In the morning we got back any adjustments that came from ‘proof’, the department that checks all the transactions and ensures that they balance (like deposits). She had a $2000 adjustment! How did she balance the night before? Well, we think she did a midday balance and discovered that her drawer was over by N2000. She may have looked for her problem or not but she never asked for help because nobody knew. We then think she took the money out of her drawer and left with it at lunch. When the proof adjustment came through, it made her drawer N2000 short. When that happens a manager or assistant manager has to audit your drawer. Bottom line, she was immediately fired. I don’t know if they pressed charges but she did show up to work in the morning in a new car! This was in the ‘80s so N2000 was a lot more money then. |
