Countries are making the gradual transition to renewables and I believe that they should be commended AND emulated. Nigeria 'lost' about 20years due to non refining. One of the major reason these IOCs are ditching their assets is a transition to renewablesI don't think we should take this 'news' as a pinch of salt because, at the end of the day, they are our buyers... |

Dangote’s Ambitious Growth StrategyAliko Dangote, renowned for his business acumen, has not rested on his laurels. The Dangote Group, one of Africa’s largest conglomerates with interests spanning cement, sugar, salt, and oil refining, has set its sights on further growth. In a recent presentation during a media tour of the Dangote Refinery, the billionaire outlined plans to increase the group’s revenues to an ambitious $30 billion by 2025. Central to this strategy is a significant shift in the group’s foreign exchange (FX) operations. Dangote aims for the conglomerate to become Africa’s largest provider of foreign exchange, with the goal of reducing dependence on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for FX sourcing. Dangote further revealed plans to dramatically reduce the group’s reliance on the Nigerian cement market, which currently accounts for 75% of its business, down to 15%. Additionally, he projected a diversification of revenue sources, with 50% of EBITDA expected to come from foreign markets. He also emphasized that 90% of the group’s future revenue would be generated in hard currency, underlining its focus on international expansion and export-driven growth. |

The downside of ethanol blends are numerous but it is way better than what we currently have in Nigeria... megawealth01: Launched by the Dangote Refinery, the newly introduced "white" fuel, also known as PMS (Premium Motor Spirit), has been generating interest due to its clear, water-like color. But what does this color indicate?
The color of petrol typically signifies its composition:
- Red: Octane has been added - Slightly Green: High octane content - Yellow: Unleaded, meaning no lead is present
However, the clear, colorless appearance of Dangote's fuel suggests the use of ethanol. Ethanol-enriched fuel offers several benefits:
- Improved engine efficiency and power - Reduced carbon emissions, as ethanol contains oxygen, which minimizes carbon buildup in engines - Lower air pollution, resulting in decreased carbon dioxide emissions
This makes Dangote's "white" fuel the most environmentally friendly and efficient option available. |
