The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and national troops have dealt a deadly blow on the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP), killing 10 of its terrorists in Baga, Borno, an official said.

A statement by Col. Timothy Antigha, the Chief of Military Public Information of MNJTF in N’Djamena, Chad Republic, on Monday said that what was meant to be a dawn surprise attack became a nightmare for the terrorists.

Mr Antigha explained that at about 5:30 a.m., ISWAP terrorists numbering about 30 attacked troops defensive locality.

According to him, vigilant troops spotted their approach and promptly thwarted what could have been an audacious assault.

“In the process, 10 terrorists, including four suicide bombers were neutralised while others escaped with gunshot wounds as blood-stained tracks were observed.

“In addition, assorted arms and ammunition were impounded from other terrorists who fled in disarray,” he said.

Mr Atigha, however, disclosed that a soldier was unfortunately killed, while five others who sustained various degree of injuries had been evaluated for medical attention.

According to him, the MNJTF acting cohesively with national forces will continue to pursue courses of action necessary for the achievement of its mandate in the Lake Chad Basin. (NAN)

Jobs/VacanciesNAF Promotes Airman Bashir For Returning €37,000 by karnafiu03(op): 5:01am On Jul 26, 2019
The Nigerian Air Force on Thursday promoted an Aircraftman, Bashir Umar, to the rank of Corporal, for returning the sum of €37,000 found in a parcel at the Hajj Camp Market in Kano State to the owner.

Umar, who is a member of the NAF Mobile Air Defence Team, told our correspondent that what crossed his mind when he picked the money at the market was how to locate the owner and return the money.

He added that he did not open the brown envelope parcel to check the contents, before contacting the owner.

Umar, who was deployed for airport security duties, had found the parcel on Tuesday, July 16, during a routine patrol with some of his colleagues.

The newly promoted corporal, however, returned the money, which is said to belong to one Alhaji Ahmad, after calling a phone number on the parcel.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, had said the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, directed the NAF Chief of Administration to “immediately come up with modalities to reward the airman.”

On Thursday, Umar was decorated at the NAF Headquarters, Abuja, in company with his parents, by the air chief, who urged him to continue to be upright.

Umar, a 23-year-old from Adamawa State, in a brief interview with our correspondent after his decoration, said, “We were on an evening patrol on that day. I decided to return the money because I feel I should not take what does not belong to me.

“I am happy, although many people later scolded me. On that day, I did not open the brown envelope. I did not check the contents. The first thing that came to my mind as I picked the envelope was the thought of finding the owner and returning the parcel.

Congrats cpl Bashir. Kudos to his parents for nurturing such a rare breed in this age when many youngsters have become Yahoo- Yahoo boys, cultists, robbers, 419 scammers and con artists due to shambolic upbringing. The young man has made his parents proud and his parents are proud of him. This is my definition of a Blessed Family.
If he bring the N15, 000, 000 come home.....they will surely be more proud of him than this grin

in u.s a for example, there is nothing whatsoever one can do to warrant beating from army officers. this is a case of aggravated assault and battery and if this should be in the u s the guy can take this up and 100,000 activists and lawyers will be protesting and calling for the discharge of the officers involved you know why, they are human beings guided by a constitution and for every offence there's a law. Let's assume u parked your car in a no parking zone, you will be there they will impound it and take it to their garage and bill you sharp sharp. If u pay finish to drive that car again go de fear u. It's not that way here u know why, we are over 200 million wild animals in jungle of wild forest full of predators and preys with no constitution and no rule of law and just plainly stupid.

CrimeSoldiers Revenge BHT On Jakana Attack, Neutralised Many Terrorists by karnafiu03(op): 8:35am On Jul 20, 2019
PRESS RELEASE

TROOPS AT FOB JAKANA NEUTRALISE BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS
- Recover Gun truck, Arms, RPG tubes and Ammunition

Troops of 212 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Jakana, on Wednesday 17Th July, 2019 dealt with and neutralised unconfirmed number of Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorists when they woefully attempted to infiltrate their base in dire need for logistics.
The terrorists came at about 1845 hours in 7 Gun Trucks and fought fiercely to infiltrate the camp, but the attack was thwarted with heavy fire and bombardment by the gallant and patriotic troops who were vigilant and battle ready.

The terrorists couldn't bear the fire power any longer after loosing significant number of both equipment and personnel in an exchange of fire. They lost initiative and withdrew in disarray along the Benisheikh - Damaturu axis, - abandoning a damaged utility Gun truck which was earmarked to convey looted items.
Troops immediately followed in hot pursuit and the following items were captured:

a. 1 x Anti Aircraft Gun

b. 2 x Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Tubes

c. 2 x AK 47 Rifles

d. 15 x Machine Gun rounds

e. 12 x AK 47 NATO rounds.

Sadly, a Colonel and a Captain as well as 3 soldiers on transit from Maiduguri to Damaturu run into an ambush staged by the routed/fleeing terrorists from the Jakana axis which led to their unfortunate death.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai while commiserating with the families of the fallen heroes reiterated that "Personnel of the Nigerian Army will never be deterred in the ongoing noble and patriotic fight against terrorism and insurgency in the North East". He further commended the efforts of the entire troops in the theatre and charged them to remain focus, highly committed and professional in the discharge of their constitutional roles.

The sacrifices of the fallen heroes in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency is no doubt painful to all, but that will further spur us to do more to ensure that our country remain secured, peaceful and free from terrorists activities for the overall interest of the nation.
