Gatess: THE UNDERRATED COTONOU
Since I was born till date, we Nigerians have always looked down on a lot of neighboring countries like Cameroon, Togo, Benin Republic etc. Well, you are not to be blamed if you are among those who look down on some of these countries, even when we have not had an opportunity to cross border.
Well I was one of those people who actually looked down on most of these countries until I had an opportunity to sail round west Africa and the narratives changed.
Meanwhile I was completely marvelled the first time I visited Cotonou, the business hub of Benin Republic about 4 years ago when Patrice Talon newly took office Two years after I re-visited, after touring round other west African countries. I spent 3 days here and without a waste of time, I concluded to relocate down to this place based on the level of development I saw, the security, serenity etc.
Finally I am now living here and I have no regret so far.
I will say this country is blessed with the best president who is working tirelessly to improve the living conditions of his beloved citizens and I am glad hearing citizens saying positive things about the president.
Things You Don't Know About Benin Republic...
*They have currently have one of the best roads/road network in west Africa * The maintain law and order * Security is good * Security personnels are friendly and don't intimidate anyone. If caught intimidating you, he or she will severely be punished " If you are caught in a robbery attack which involves gun, forget it, u are gun forever. * Electricity is 247. No low voltage or unecessarily interruptions. * Steady clean water supply by the government at an affordable rate * 247 transport system cos of good security * Night life is topnotch.. in fact their balling na night with street light almost every nook and cranny of the city. * Amazing beaches with super duper fun. * Nice Bilingual schools for your kids *Stress free movement without traffic jam. * Policemen scattered at every nook and cranny of the town to maintain law and order and not for stop and search. * Drugs are only bought or sold at a registered pharmacies and not from quacks or roadside vendors * Foreigners almost have same right with citizen and can't be treated anyhow *Women are like egg here. Of course you should know how that helps an economy. *Internet is steady and fast but a bit expensive *Pepper body no common here like naija * ETC
Business Opportunities From My Findings So Far...
*Tailoring is a place to explore especially when you sew English wears and Nigerian attires * Sales of any kind of electronics which you can bring from Nigeria and Togo cos they are cheaper over there and expensive here. * Sales of second hand phones and laptops, not forgetting their accessories too. Very lucrative * Nigerian foods are in high demand especially areas where Nigerians live more. U go sell tire * Sales of sewing machines(more of manual)and it's accessories are in high demand cos this is their major skill work with hairdressing. * Phone and laptop repairs needs serious attention here cos most of the engineers are not competent enough * Sales of motor parts/bike parts. Both are very good biz here too. * Bilingual schools are still in high demand in some places including teachers. * Transportation biz- As a naija man, u will do better plying from border to town, if you are a smart. As an okada rider, concentrate around Tokpa, Misebo and Beach, you will be fine too. Those who are into okirika(2nd clothes, shoes & bags), it's still very profitable till date but you must have a good contact for you not to be cheated. Etc
Let me drop my pen here for now. I will be sharing some photos of the places I have been to like the beaches etc . Their currency is higher than the sinking naira now not just in the black market but also in the official flat rate |

His home state needs help and the roads in his state are not motorable and yet he had to suck up to his masters. What a shame and a disgrace.Fools everywhere. They won't see all this picture of their leaders kneeing and bowing down to the Fulani from the Northern part of Nigeria but assuming it is a Yoruba man that knee or bow down now, they will flood this tread with insults but when it is their own person they will find one excuse to give. Rubbish. Please let be saving all this pictures of their leaders bowing and kneeing so that when they want to attack other tribe. |

Corn is a very popular street snack in Nigeria, and I doubt there's a Nigerian who does not like corn. As for me, I always look forward to corn season. I like my corn boiled, but I can't decide between ube and coconut, which I prefer to pair with my corn.
So, how do you prefer your corn? Boiled or roasted? Which is your favourite pair?

SultanOfPuna: Religion has turned my mother into a shadow of herself. Ever since our teenage years my mother was not the churchy type. We are raised Catholics Back then she was active and bubbling.
all of a sudden my mother left Catholic faith and started messing around with different churches. This has cause countless rift between us, my dad and elder sister have done everything possible but my mum is too brainwashed by these Pentecostal pastors.
How can someone be attending Christ embassy and winners chapel?? I Heard she wants to join mountain of fire but changed her mind. Everytime church, church, church Yet she never gain anything from it I have been sending her money for her for upkeep since November last year only to come back home February this year and discovered she donates everything to different churches
I feel she might have a mental disorder and I don't know how to save her. She literally spends all the money in church donation tithe and all those craps. And those pastors always calling her to come for one program or the other. I don't know what to do Why will you say, you feel your mother have a mental disorder, that statement is wrong. Most african Mum are easily brainwash by many of this so called man of God. |

This is one thing I don't like about most of them, instead of them to condemn the activities of the UGM, they will be looking for fault of other regions. They are more concern about other regions than their own region. May those UGM who are killing innocent ppl in the SE die a useless die. God will expose all of them very soon. |

Npower batch c beneficiaries yet to receive a single payment have payment issues, they should quickly complete their Npower validation process otherwise they will not receive payment till the end of their Npower programme. Npower can't keep waiting for them, Npower should give a deadline that those who have not received thier backlog should go and validate their portal on or before so so and so date and anyobe who fail to validate his or her account by the end of that date should not blame npower. Ab initio, it was clear to even a village idiot that the girl was lying. Of all the candidates that wrote UTME this year, she's the only one parading that old slip. To even think that JAMB is victimizing her because of her origin (only to announce another girl from Anambra as the overall highest) tells a lot about many people's intelligence. Now that the truth has finally come to light, watch how her 'supporters' will shift the goal post that someone else forged the result on her behalf. Or that JAMB's portal made it easy for candidates to fake their score.
Just like Bill Newman once said; 'every one has a right to their opinion but no one has a right to be wrong in their fact'. All of you 'Let the poor girl breath' & 'they hate Ndigbo' crew. You should bury your heads in shame. They have started already to shift the post. They are very good in defending crime when it involves them. They will surely find a way to shift the issues na |
