Should someone whose election into the office of the governor was overtuned by the court consider himself an ex-governor ? That Adeleke chose to recognised Oyinlola as an ex-governor is a privilege that should be appreciated instead of saying it is the law. The law stipulating ex-governor entitlements is only applicable to constitutionally recognized ex-governor. Adeleke could have given him the same treatment Rotimi Ameachi gave Celestine Omehia by not recognising him as ex-governor of Rivers state throughout his 8 years tenure. It was Wike that decided to recognised him as an ex-governor in 2015. Same Wike reversed it when Omehia passed his boundary in 2023. Wike did not just derecognized him but demanded that he refund all what the state has paid him as an ex-governor. Adeleke could have done same to Oyinlola but he was benevolent enough to give him a brand new car and here he is saying it is the law. Which law ? You don't build legality on illegality. The court pronounce you as illegal governor.

I have no issue with whom Oyinlola chose to support but i have serious issue with him trying to turn privilege to right. Silence could be golden and allow the court of public opinion to take over.

These are state owned universities. We should be fair to the federal government and President Tinubu on this and hold the concerned state governors accountable. They are getting more money now, yet refused to increase subvention for these universities or approved the new salary scale.

With or without Adeleke endorsement, Gbenga Hashim cannot win the presidential election. Without their support because he didn't endorse their presidential candidate, he might still win the governorship election. If he endorses now, he might lose his reelection bid. If you are in Adeleke's shoe, who will you struggle to save? Your party presidential candidate's ambition or yours? As for me, it will be my ambition first. When that is settled, I can then make decision about others.

If the call out by the Gbenga Hashim group recently is not from the opposition political party/parties, they should chill for now and allow him to win first before placing such demand on him. The call is politically suspicious.

Nigeria said it has completed the evacuation of its citizens from South Africa this week, airlifting nearly 1,500 people as anti-illegal immigration groups piled pressure on undocumented foreigners to leave the country.

Foreign nationals from several African countries, including Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Uganda and Zimbabwe, have been leaving South Africa for weeks under government-assisted repatriation programmes.

South Africa, long a destination for documented and undocumented African workers, has been rocked by weeks of protests and unrest targeting immigrants, who stand accused of taking jobs and resources.

"It has ended," Nigeria's foreign ministry spokesman Kimiebi Ebienfa told AFP on Friday after airlifting of 1,490 Nigerians between June 10 and July 15.

The departures began after fringe South African groups ramped up demands for undocumented migrants to leave by June 30, sparking violent protests and clashes that killed at least four foreign nationals.

Malawi said earlier in July it had brought back 38,000 nationals in just a month, while Zimbabwe reported repatriating nearly 21,300 citizens.

Uganda's government said around 1,100 of its nationals had been repatriated, while hundreds of Ghanaians, Mozambicans and Kenyans have also left.

Nigeria's foreign minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu said earlier this month that the situation for foreigners in South Africa was deteriorating and urged authorities to investigate the June 28 killings of two Nigerians, Musa Yunana Joe and Charles Iroegbu, during "the ongoing xenophobic protests and attacks of migrants".

But South African police said the deaths were not connected to the protests.

Still, South African authorities have been accused of not doing enough to stop the violence, which has seen shops owned by immigrants burned and looted.

"While appreciating the longstanding bilateral relations between Nigeria and the Republic of South Africa, the Federal Government reiterates its firm position that all forms of xenophobia, racial intolerance and violence against foreign nationals are unacceptable," Ebienfa said in a statement on Thursday.

Despite a handful of Nigerian lawmakers calling for a hardline response, Ebienfa said Abuja will continue to "engage constructively with the South African Government through diplomatic channels".

Fuel subsidy was removed for government to have more money, not to save or work with, but to loot. This is one of them. Fuel subsidy payment and other citizen reliefs would not have allowed too much money in government custody that billions of naira cannot be accounted for. All tiers of government now have more money but little or nothing to show for it. The looting is massive, hence any voice demanding for accountability will be gauged. I know their agents will react to this little opinion of mine once they see it. They can be that petty. Everyone must be silenced so they can be unchallengeable.
