Foreign AffairsRe: Reasons Why A Diplomatic Solution To The Syrian Crisis Is Unlikely by KayDee4: 2:43am On Sep 21, 2013
NairaMinted: #8 Many members of the U.S. Congress want this war. Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham are virtually foaming at the mouth, and Robert Menendez, the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said that he “almost wanted to vomit” after reading Russian President Vladimir Putin’s plea for peace in the New York Times.
'Many' ? How many ?
McCain and Graham do not constitute 'many members', those 2 are renowned hawks who would go to war just for the fun of it. Contrary to this claim, a great majority of congress men are/were against striking Syria.
Foreign AffairsIs the US-Iran icy relationship starting to warm up ? by KayDee4(op):
So cold has the relationship between the US and Iran been that for decades, there has been total silence or a lack of communication between Tehran and Washington with no face-to-face interaction between a US president and an Iranian leader since the '79 Iranian revolution. Now it seems like both countries are on the path to reconciliation.

Over the weekend, President Obama disclosed to ABC News' George Stephanopoulous, that he has personally reached out to, and exchanged letters with Hassan Rouhani, the new Iranian president. The Iranian president in return, confirmed to NBC News' Ann Curry that he was recently in communication with Obama and stated he was ready to reach out to the west for constructive peace talks and that his administration "will never develop a nuclear weapon".

These moves seem to be giant strides towards better relations between the US and Iran, very different from what it was like under Ahmadinejad. Earlier this month, the new president and foreign minister tweeted out "happy new year" messages to Jews around the world and disclaimed Ahmadinejad's previous comments which questioned the veracity of the holocaust.

Israelis are however taking all this with a pinch of salt with the Israeli ambassador to the US dismissing the gestures as some sort of pretense and insisting that if the Iranian president was serious about peace talks, he would start by dismantling the secret underground nuclear installations.

There are indications that both leaders will meet face-to-face at the UN meeting next week. It will be a historic moment when they do.

folahann: When are we gonna stop this Ramsey hype? Let us reach mid-season and see
It's no hype. Ramsey, by default is a brilliant player as shown in his pre-leg break feats.
He was just inconsistent and in poor form after recovery and played rubbish at times. I criticised him and Wenger for always starting him and sending him out wide to the flanks but I never wrote him off.
I'm happy to see the kid playing well again and more importantly, scoring goals for fun. You should be hoping he is consistent with performances like this and not praying for the 'hype' to die.
Arsenal can actually field a good 11-size with the injured players.Must be something in the water in Colney.

That said,Per has to be the most under-rated defender in Arsenal. The calmness he brings to our back-line is second to none.

@Kay-dee Is it just me or you also find this at&t ad funny too?The one with the kids and the knock knock joke. grin grin grin.Have me in stitches every time it comes on.
Thanks to the midfield depth and quality, the team looked very good even with a lot of absentees, the forward options still worry me though.

Yeah, "better is better", kiddies ads are always hilarious. I saw it a couple of times, their animations were funny but like the lil' white boy, I didn't get the main joke cool wink .

We need to go on a winning streak till we lock horns with the big boys! Long may it continue cheesy
and lose they did. Everton rocks !! cool cheesy
as for Loserpool, it's hi-time someone halted their winning streak, I'm banking on Swansea to get the job done 2mrw.

proudlysports: ^^^ add Bendtner to that list. Don't know why Park isn't even considered by Arsene
Yep, pregnant Bendtner is as good as crippled and should be on that list. I tire for Wenger o and the way he just fashiéd Park since.

Rambo Rambo Rambo, he scores when he wants, Lol !!!
The Özil-Giroud combination worked as expected for the 1st goal, that was testing testing, more to come in subsequent games.
WTF was Walcott doing, missing all those chances in the 1st half ?
Hyperactive Ninja Koscienly needs to take a chill pill, that penalty was a reckless giveaway.
I hope Giroud is ok sha, an injury to him now will be a disaster.

Don't worry he's 8 weeks away and Giroud will not get injured while he's sidelined. Abeg nwanne no think am too much before it becomes a terrible reality. Theo's not stuck on the right, he can go central and Özil will take up that wing; shouldn't be a problem.

What's the point of buying Ozil when g.o.a.t (Bendtner) will be no. 2 striker in the team huh
Assuming Giroud cops a long term injury, shey na that donkey wenger expects to lead the freaking line!
I won't be surprised if we end up playing like the Fabregas era, I.E, pass, pass, & pass with no cutting edge undecided
Great signing, though cheesy grin

I hope reinforcement comes in January window!
Hahaha !! Who will give Bartender shirt and playing time ? I'll rather have Theo or Poldi lead the attack.

Yay !!! Ozil confirmed. 42.5 milla !!! Wenger go say make we no disturb am for signings for the next 3 years. cheesy cheesy
I was hoping for a CF and CB too but nevertheless, we have to make do with the players we have. Flamingo as our marquee DM signing, Theo/Poldi as our 'LANS' CFs, those 2 can serve as backups for OG12 and we now have quite a number of talented offensive midfielders. I hope TV5 comes back with a refreshed football brain and no one else picks up a long-termer. I also hope we can call back our players on loan (Coqy, Miquel and Djorou) in case of emergency.
Gunners !!! we're ready to go. Gunning for the title.

Foreign AffairsRe: Syrian Rebels Used Sarin Nerve Gas, Not Assad’s Regime: U.N. Official by KayDee4: 1:35am On Sep 01, 2013
I'm glad he decided to seek congressional approval and I hope and believe the proposal will be rejected.

1 week is long enough to kill the hype and news reporting on the Syrian crisis will fade back to pre-08/21 levels.

Some Americans are gullible but most are also anti-war, and with a floundering economy and the Iraqi war fresh on people's minds, its hard to find public support for the impending war. It will be very hard to sell to the American people; pictures of dying children alone will not cut it, Assad has to strike on home soil for people's minds to start to sway.

To save face, Obama and co should spend the next few days thinking of a good excuse "for not attacking" cos it's the 'American pride' that's on the line now grin grin .
Foreign AffairsRe: Does Obama Need Congressional Approval To Bomb Syria? by KayDee4: 3:57am On Aug 30, 2013
He doesn't need congressional approval if it's 'limited' military action and in the interest of National security (like he's already painted it to be). It's not a full-blown war.

However , its in his own interest to go to them to seek approval so that they all have a sense of shared responsibility for whatever the outcome is.
Foreign AffairsRe: Syrian Rebels Used Sarin Nerve Gas, Not Assad’s Regime: U.N. Official by KayDee4:
lastpage: 4.) Obama then came on air and declared that "Use of Chemical weapons will be a red line which if crossed, america will intervene militarily. Dont ask me "on whose side" or "against whom", that answer is obvious.
lastpage: U.N inspectors MUST leave by Saturday morning. Obama is "committed" to keep his words spoken a year ago.
he was naive and pushed into making that statement, he was fooled into not looking or doubting the intelligence he is relying on, to blame Assad. Now he has No CHOICE! wink wink
He really boxed him self into a corner by drawing 'red lines' on various issues all over the middle east and making statements like "Assad must go" , he probably didn't think Assad would go down suicide lane by crossing the chemical weapons redline. That was the wiggle room he needed then to relieve himself of the pressure of earlier intervention; in retrospect, his choice of words was not well thought out.

Obama seems to convince himself more everytime he comes on air to speak about it and he's getting closer to a point of no return where there will be no turning back on the idea of a military intervention.
An attack seems imminent but I really hope he makes a U-turn cos it's not going to be an easy strike-and-get-out mission like the pro-military intervention guys think it will be.

No doubt, Israel stands to gain from Assad's removal but no one can say for sure that they are the masterminds behind this. The same way no one can say for sure that it was or was not the Syrian army on orders from Assad or his brutal brother, could be the rebels, Hezbollah, . . . . . . Everyone is a suspect right now

Assad also stands to gain from a US military strike cos that will ramp up more support from Russia, China and Iran. This is a far-fetched scenario though.

Another party that will be hoping the strike happens are the merchants of war, the manufacturers of missiles. It was reported that there has been an incredible rise in the value of their stocks over the past weeks. - Suspect number ? ? ? ? or just proponents of a military strike.

John McCain still insists on an immediate military intervention, I wonder what the middle east will be like by now if he was presdient.

Foreign AffairsRe: Do You Support The Coming American War Against The Syria Assad Regime by KayDee4: 4:03pm On Aug 28, 2013
Bad Bad idea.
Any form of US involvement has a potential to destabilise the entire region even further. Iran is already threathening to attack Israel if the US strikes Syria. It will not be a quick strike and retreat like they think, there will be dire consequences.
I hope Obama decides to seek approval from congress before acting and I hope they turn it down.

If they get crowds like that everyday then they should consider attending to people based on appointments and with daily caps.

PoliticsRe: Is Nigeria Really Rich? Nigeria's Budget Compared With Some Other Countries by KayDee4: 4:00am On Aug 22, 2013
When some people say "Nigeria is rich" , they don't necessarily mean Nigeria is, or should be "Qatar-rich" with money to throw around like confetti. It simply means we have enough resources to afford decent amenities and infrastructure and can do better than we currently are.
We are 'rich' enough to have good roads, constant power, water supply, a sane police force, etc. We are not where we should be and are lagging behind by miles.

atlwireles: What resourceshuh the $27B Federal budget in a country of 160M peoplehuh Corruption has become the new word for laziness in Nigeria.
Funny how you attempt to write off the corruption problem and then lay down the population excuse.

People are always so quick to point out our large population as an excuse for the country's failure but I wonder if we have welfare programs that cater to these 160m people and exert a drag on the resources.
Apart from the subsidy (which has now been removed) and the 'free' education (which is not so free anyway), I don't see how our population is a proximate cause of govt's inability to provide good roads and electricity, it's purely down to corruption.
PoliticsRe: Is Nigeria Really Rich? Nigeria's Budget Compared With Some Other Countries by KayDee4: 1:18am On Aug 22, 2013
The problem is that Nigerians don't pay tax
Says who ? Many employed Nigerians pay taxes. Most businesses pay taxes too. You may not see it on your grocery receipt as 'tax' but they get it back from you through that N1 or N2 hike in prices.

The problem is mismanagement of resources and corruption.
