The female breasts, also known as “the twins” or “the girls”, have remained the most conspicuous and attractive feature of the female sexual organ. Perhaps, its strategic positioning and function adds to its importance in the life of a woman. Besides the age long biological function of the breasts as a source offood and nourishment for babies, the breast is also a major source of sexual attraction for the male specie, just as it is also a key sexual organ for the woman, highly sensitive to stimulation. The fact that they come in various shapes and sizes, further add to their uniqueness and endearing place in our hearts as humans. As a sexual organ, the breasts have been known to give immense pleasure to both men and women during sexualencounters. In fact, some women have reportedly disclosed that they are capable of achieving orgasm even when thoroughly stimulated through sucking and caressing of the breasts alone. Though, because of this highly sensitive nature, some women find it very uncomfortable or even painful to submit their twin girls to constant sexual manipulation of any kind. Interestingly, men are constantly drawn to the breasts. A lot of this attraction has been attributed to psychological composition, perception and beliefs. For, pray, why would a full grown man be obsessed with sucking some mounds ofmilkless breasts? I don’t often get logical answers to this question when I ask. The function of the breasts in sexual behaviour has been attributed to human Face -to -Face copulation that is unusual among other mammals. Since the breast already serves the function of mother-infant bonding, then it is also excellent for male -female bonding, says an argument. After all, it is just within reach. For those familiar with some of the social media platforms, you would have come across a particular message that has been making the rounds for a couple of years now. Purportedly attributed to the BBC as source, this message usually springs out during the cancer awareness months and in support of cancer prevention campaign. As expected, it elicits a wide range of controversies from both men and women, from humour to disdain and sexual innuendoes, while some others believe the content hook, line and sinker. The purported message is claimed to havebeen issued by the Ministry of Health in the fight against breast cancer. One of the versions I have received read thus: Very soon, women will be paying men to have their breasts sucked! According to a report on BBC website, Doctors recommend that women reduce the risk of getting breast cancer by having their breasts sucked thoroughly and vigorously. It is said that regular sucking of the breast lowers the risk level that tends to build up lumps leading to breast cancer. The breast must be sucked as often as possible. Help women fight breast cancer today. Men, please do your part and suck a breast now! And women, please endeavour to make it available regularly…… This message is from the Ministry of Health in the fight against breast cancer. I have tried several times without success to get a confirmation for this story on the mentioned websites including cancer.org and some others in related fields. But perhaps, someone out there knows the original and authentic source of this message? Please share it with us! As interesting as this message may be, as well as the different responses it receives anytime it is being passed around, depending on which side of the divide you find yourself, I am more worried about the health implications attached. Cancer is not something to make jokes out of as it claims millions of lives across the world every year. Again, some frightened lady who hitherto was not in favour of breast sucking may easily submit herself to torture with the belief that she is suffering for a good reason. Please, let us not confuse issues. Breast feeding is not the same as breast sucking. Breast feeding is the process of feeding newborn and infants with breast milk. It is this that has been medically proven to be of immense benefit to both mother and child and can prevent breast cancer. There are no scientifically proven studies indicating that breast sucking is of any medical benefit to the the woman whose breast is being sucked or the person doing the sucking. However, what has been scientifically proven is the fact that breast sucking when properly performed is of immense pleasure to the woman and may sometime on its own lead to orgasm or when combined with some other forms of sexual stimulation will help a woman to achieve orgasm quicker. Again, neither has any research shown that breast sucking can give a woman cancer. So ladies, please relax and allow your guys do the job for you. if you are not enjoying the way he is doing it, tell him. I can assure you, it’s a win-win situation. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/05/breast-sucking-good/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C3518160217 |

ABUJA — THE House of Representatives, yesterday, resolved to set up an Ad-hoc committee to investigate former President Goodluck Jonathan and President Muhammadu Buhari’s N11.1 billion State House Clinic budgets between 2015-2017. The House unanimously agreed to carry out the investigation, sequel to a motion entitled: ‘’Need to investigate the deplorable condition of the State House Clinic and the alleged deductions from the salaries and allowances of the medical staff”, moved by Rep. Henry Archibong, PDP, Akwa Ibom. In his submission on the motion, the lawmaker, who said the clinic has, over the years, been receiving annual budgetary allocations to procure equipment to function optimally, noted that in the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Appropriation Acts, the Clinic was allocated the sums of N3.94 billion, N3.87 billion and N3.2 billion respectively, for upgrading and provision of necessary drugs and equipment. Within the 36 months, what the 16 teaching hospitals collectively got for capital projects were: 2015: N1.424 billion; 2016: 3.333 billion and 2017: N1.943 billion. Archibong observed that in spite of the huge budgetary allocations, the Clinic lacks necessary facilities such as syringes, drugs and equipment needed to save lives. Recall that this deplorable condition of the clinic made the First Lady, Aisha Buhari to complain publicly during a stakeholders’ meeting, lamenting her inability to access even the simplest drugs at the State House Clinic. Noting that the clinic was established to take careof the health needs of the President and Vice President, their family members as well as members of staff of the presidential Villa, he lamented that if this pathetic situation could happen under the nose of the presidency, “you can imagine what will happen elsewhere. It is a shame on this nation. “This is unacceptable. Less than three years of this government, this amount has been spent. It is unacceptable that the Permanent Secretary and the Minister (Minister of Health) have not resigned. It cannot happen in other smaller countries. Is this the change we have been waitingfor? This is a question.” The House, however, resolved to set up an Ad-hoc committee to investigate the deplorable conditionof the State House Clinic and the alleged deductions from the salaries and allowances of the medical staff and report back within three weeks for further legislative action. When it comes to Wheezy F. Baby, you either love him or hate him. Whichever is true for you one thing is for certain, you can’t escape his fandom. Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. otherwise known as Lil’ Wayne was born September 27, 1982 and his debut record was Tha Block Is Hot (1999). Enjoy these 7 shocking facts that Lil’ Wayne would rather you not know, and choose to love him or hate him. 1. His Mama’s a Little Crazy At 15, Lil’ Wayne was on tour with Cash Money. Citing that she was lonely without him, she encouraged him to have a daughter – at 15. His high school sweetheart Antonia “Toya” Carter gave birth to his daughter Reginae when he was only 15 years old. Reginae, Dwayne III, Cameron Carter and Neal are the names of his children, bringing the total count to the number four. We are hoping that they will continue their fathers successful rapping career. 2. He was never a Drug Dealer We aren’t sure why selling drugs on the side of the road is so glamorized, but despite rapping endlessly about selling drugs, he says the only ones he’s ever seen are the ones he wanted to sniff or smoke. Classy. He has been arrested on several occasions because of drug possession, although most of the charges were dropped. His statement about sniffing and smoking turned out to be true, as only cocaine and marijuana were found on those occasions. He did do a year in Rikers (prison) when he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon 3. He Recycles Verse Diehard Lil’ Wayne fans who were a little too young to remember classic verses swear he came up with them, but often times Wayne slips in rhymes from other artists, like Jay Z, when he’s on stage. This is somewhat strange, especially when you consider the fact that Lil’ Wayne wrote his first rap song at the age of eight. Actually, as you all probably know, his whole career was built in those early years, while other rappers were struggling financially and otherwise, he was writing songs and bettering himself. 4.He was a Straight A Student It’s funny how guys these days don’t want to be known as smart; instead out back smoking a blunt and beating up anyone who looks at them sideways is the go-to image. But the truth is, before the tear drops and the cough syrup he was a real brain. Unfortunately, at the age of fourteen, he had to drop out of McMain Magnet School due to the overwhelming business obligations and to focus more on his musical career. 5.He Can’t Freestyle Remember that Tim Westwood “freestyle”?Exactly. In Weezy’s defense he did look like he might have been coming off a frat house bender. His whole career actually started with a freestyle. He called Bryan Williams, rapper and owner of Cash Money Records and left a “freestyle” message on his answering machine, which later led to his signing. 6. He’s Dead… Again Ok not really, but he is a main stay in the internet death hoaxes quite often. If on the chance Lil’ Wayne ever really does bite the big one, he will appear to all of us on a skateboard with an electric guitar to let us know this shit is really happening. The problem is the media, hungry for those juicy headlines they label someone as dead at first whiff of health problems… 7. He’s ParanoidWayne refuses to write anything down out of the fear that his journals will be taken and published like his favorite rock star of all time Kurt Cobain. We are just wondering what would be harm in that? 8. Started Rapping When He Was 8 Lil Wayne wrote his first song at the age of eight, showing talent really early in his life. One year later, he contacted Cash Money Records and its owner Bryan Williams, who helped him immensely in the beginning of his career. He called Bryan and left a message on his answering machine, and nothing would be strange about that if the message wasn’t his song! Yes, he started working with Cash Money Records after Bryan heard him rap in a message left on his answering machine… 9. Was Involved In A Shooting When He Was Only 12 While true, this title may be a bit misleading. After playing with a handgun, Lil Wayne accidentally shot himself back in 1994. He sustained no serious injuries. Hope this cautionary tale will convince you to take better care of your personal firearm, especially if you have small children… 10. He Has Serious Health Problems As you might have read earlier, he was declared dead a couple of times due to his seizures. Suffering from epilepsy, Lil’ Wayne has stated several times that he has seizures, just like any other person who has the same health problems. The thing that might have contributed to the severity of his health problems is the famous purple drink, high in codeine, which is rumored to be the source of the problem. 11. Lil Wayne And Obama While these two are seemingly worlds apart, Obama has made several comments that included Lil Wayne: 1. “You are probably not that good a rapper. Maybe you are the next Lil Wayne, but probably not, in which case you need to stay in school.” 2. “They might think they’ve got a pretty jump shot or a pretty good flow, but our kids can’t all aspire to be LeBron or Lil Wayne.” 12. Feuds that are not feuds Nowadays it seems easier than ever to get into feuds with other people. It’s enough to make a hasty remark on Twitter or Facebook, but dissing via lyrics isn’t dead just yet. Both Young Buck and Pusha T have been dissing Lil Wayne for quite some time, but all this was later sorted out. He even made a song with YoungBuck. Jay Z and Kanye West indirectly clipped him with their song “H•A•M”, but after his response (It’s Good”) everything was toned down… 13. Acting Career With four movies under his belt, Lil Wayne is off to a good start. He shot his first movie Baller Blockin’ back in 2000, with a classical gangsta setup. Followed by a much more serious movie Who’s Your Caddy? and Hurricane Season, later in 2010 his acting career came to a sudden stop with the rise of his music talent. Of course, when we are talking about his movies, we cannot forget The Carter, documentary movie about his life that you should check out. 14.Religion And Philanthropy Although cash and money do not go well with religion, Lil Wayne identifies himself as Roman Catholic who reads the bible regularly. One Family Foundation is the name of his non-profit organization. It was designed to help the urban youth and steer their energy into creative and educational enterprises. Keep up the good work Wayne! 15. Retirement While we cannot imagine him migrating to Florida, it is true that he’s musical career is slowly approaching the end. Lil Wayne stated that he would retire at the age of 35, due to his family obligations and desire to dedicate himself to other creative outlets… http://www.celebzen.com/7-shocking-facts-lil-wayne-doesnt-want-you-to-know/ |

Enugu—THE Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, Professor Chukwuma Ozumba, has said “motivation is the secret behind the increased productivity among the staff of the nations’ premier independent university.” umba, who spoke in an interview with Vanguard, said his administration realised the need to motivate lecturers and other non-academic staff of the institution, saying the International Webometric ranking, which placed the university as the first among all the universities in the country, was among such successes being recorded. He added that it is not a chance occurrence, but the result of a well thought-out policy aimed at increasing academic productivity among scholars and scientists of the university. Ozumba, who is a professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, stressed that motivation of staff was at its lowest ebb before he assumed office two years ago, pointing out that he went to work with his team, bringing a favourable turnaround for UNN. A professor, who asked not to be named, corroborated the Vice Chancellor’s statement, saying Ozumba’s administration had also restored adequate funding of departments and other units of the university. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/10/motivation-secret-increased-productivity-unn-vc/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C6254331487 |
ABUJA—Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has directed the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, to compile list of institutions charging above N2,000 in the ongoing post-UTME for sanction. He also denied giving a directive that the exercise be suspended, and asked the general public to disregard the purported order. a statement, yesterday, by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs C.P. Ihuoma, the minister, who noted that the stipulated amount Post-UTME candidates were expected to pay was N2,000, regretted that some institutions were charging above the amount. Describing the action as act of insubordination, the minister did not only direct that such institutions refund the money but also that JAMB compiled names of such institutions and submit same for appropriate sanction. Denies ordering suspension of Post-UTME The statement read:” The attention of the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has been drawn to a news report in the media claiming that the minister had issued a directive to universities to cancel the Post-UTME examinations already scheduled. “The statement, according to the report, was issued by Mr. Ben Goong, Deputy Director of Press. The ministry would like to assert emphatically that the report is completely false and without foundation.“The minister, therefore, urges universities to go ahead with their Post-UTME arrangements as earlier planned.” “Mr. Goong, who purportedly issued the statement, ceased to be a staff of the ministry since November 2016. “Also the attention of the Minister has also been drawn to some of the institutions which are charging more than the stipulated N2,000.00 post-UTME fees. “The minister views this as an act of insubordination and emphatically redirected that every institution that runs in violation of the directive will be made to face disciplinary action. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/10/post-utme-compile-list-schools-charging-n2000-sanction-minister-tells-jamb/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C2805404097 |
The police say they have recovered the vehicle used in dumping Tagbo Umeike’s body. The vehicle was recovered from singer Davido’s house and arrests have been made, the police said. Tagbo died on Tuesday – the eve of his birthday at a bar in Lekki, Lagos. The popular musician, David Adeleke, aka Davido, is currently under fire for allegedly lying to the police that he did not know how his deceased friend, Tagbo, got to the Lagos General Hospital premises. The acting Police Commissioner in Lagos, Imohimi Edgal, on Wednesday told reporters that Close Circuit Television (CCTV) footages from the hospital proved that Tagbo was brought in dead (BID) by Davido’s escort driver, Tunde Usutu, and two of Davido’s friends, Agbeje Olaoye and Idris Busari. He said the men abandoned the deceased inside his ash Toyota Camry LSD378EL on the instruction of Davido. According to Mr. Edgal, Davido, his friends and the escort driver were being questionedby the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Lion Building. “To be objective and verify facts, I called for a pre-investigation meeting in my conference room. In attendance were all parties including family, friends of the deceased; those of Davido; Caroline Danjuma; the DPO and investigating officers.” The meeting confirmed that the deceased on that day met and had drinks with friends at Shisha Bar amongst whom was Davido. The bar tender confirmed the deceased had as much as 40 tots of Tequila and exhibited signs of drunkenness, the commissioner said. The CCTV footage also confirmed this. Davido had reportedly told the police he had left Shisha Bar for DNA Night Club in Victoria Island without the deceased and was only informed by mutual friends of his death while he was at DNA. However, police investigation revealed that Davido’s white Toyota Hilux escort driver, Tunde Usutu, accompanied by one Agbeje Olaoye and one Idris Busari, both Davido’s friends, took the deceased to the General Hospital Lagos and abandoned him in his vehicle on the instruction of Davido, the commissioner said. The CCTV footage at the hospital picked the escort vehicle and the entire activity. The vehicle was recovered from Davido’s residence at 7, Awoshika Street, Lekki Phase 1, Mr. Edgal said. This completely debunks Davido’s claim that he did not know how the deceased got to the General Hospital, the commissioner said. The interim autopsy report stated that the victim died of Asphyxia (suffocation). On the cause of death of two other Davido’s friends who were found dead inside a BMW car marked KJA631AY on October 7 at Banana Island, Mr. Edgal said the autopsy had not been concluded. He said, “A case of sudden and unnatural death (SUD) was reported on October 7, at about 8 p.m. by the CSO Banana Island, Ikoyi, to the DPO Ikoyi that two persons namely, Olugbemi Abiodun and Chime Amechina of Flat Bill, Ocean Parade, were found dead inside one white BMW Saloon car marked KJA631AY, at underground garage in the estate. Davido “Police operatives raced to the scene where the bodies of the victims were taken to LASUTH, Ikeja for joint medical examination to determine cause of death. “The Victims were found motionless and were confirmed dead by a medical doctor. Further search into the vehicle revealed that wrapped substances suspected to be weeds were recovered and might have been used by the victims. “Liquid substances were observed on their mouths and nostrils. From investigation by policemen at the scene, there were no visible marks on their bodies. The result of the autopsy is still being awaited. The pathologist said there was need for furtherfindings before conclusions could be drawn on the cause of death.” Meanwhile, Davido has responded to the police invitation, as he was seen at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, in the company of his lawyer. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/245832-police-recover-vehicle-used-dumping-tagbos-body-davidos-house.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C3377137977 |

The Nigeria Education Research and Development Council (NERDC) is set to reintroduce History as a subject, beginning from the 2018/2019 academic session. The NERDC Executive Secretary, Ismail Junaidu, told the News agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday that the curriculum is ready. He said that the subject would now be a standalone curriculum and would be taught from primary one to JSS III. NAN reports that the National Council on Education had approved the reintroduction of the subject in July. The executive secretary said that the NERDC had forwarded a sample of the new curriculum for History to the states to give them ample time to plan ahead of its implementation. “All states are expected to be sensitised and teachers trained on how to use the curriculum before the implementation can begin. “We need to give the states ample time to put their house in order before we start implementing the curriculum,” he told NAN. According to him, History is already in the senior secondary school curriculum. He said the implementation would only start after the curriculum had been distributed to states. “We have begun work on the curriculum because the NCE has given the directive, it will soon get to schools. “The implementation will commence in the next academic session,’’ he assured. Mr. Junaidu added that the NCE had approved that all efforts should be made to ensure the commencement of History in schools and it will be accomplished. “By the next academic session (2018/2019), everything will be in place,’ the executive secretary said. Diamond Bank, the current employer of newly appointed Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Aishah Ahmad, has given a dodgy response when asked by this newspaper (PREMIUM TIMES) to respond to widespread claims that Ms. Ahmad was promoted executive director on the same day she was appointed to the top CBN post. Rather than make a categorical comment on when Mrs. Ahmad was raised from her position as deputy general manager to executive director, Mike Omeife, head of media Relations at the bank, merely said she had been executive director at the bank “for a while”. He maintained that based on her wealth of experience, she is qualified to be appointed to the new position. Mrs. Ahmad was appointed deputy governor of the apex bank on Thursday, October 5, and is billed to replace Sarah Alade, who retired from the bank as deputy governor (economic policy) in March2017. She is expected to assume duty as CBN deputy governor immediately after her confirmation by the Senate. Until her appointment, Mrs. Ahmad, a holder of Master of Science, M.Sc degree in Finance & Management from the Cranfield School of Management, United Kingdom (2006-2007) and a Master of Business Administration, MBA in Finance, University of Lagos (1999-2001), was the executive director (Retail Banking) at Diamond Bank Plc. She is the chairperson, executive council of Women in Management, Business and Public Service, WIMBIZ, a Nigerian non-profit organization focused on issues affecting the interest of women professionals in business, particularly those promoting leadership development and capacity building to engender growth. Since her appointment, there had been controversies, especially on social media, over her qualification for the CBN job. SCANTY DETAILS But in a chat with PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday, Mr. Omeife said the new CBN deputy governor had been an executive director at Diamond Bank “for a while”. When asked of the specific date, he explained that he might not immediately have the details but he was confident she had been appointed executive director “for a while”. Our sources maintained Mr. Omeife “was economical with the truth”. Checks by PREMIUM TIMES revealed that details of the bank’s annual report showed that as at December 2016, Mrs. Ahmad held the position of Head, Consumer and Privilege Banking. The two executive directors listed in the report are Chizoma Okoli, Executive Director Business Development, and Chiugo Ndubisi, Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer. Similarly, in its quarterly reports for March and June 2017, the names of the two aforementioned officials remained as executive directors. Meanwhile, checks on the disclosure platform of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, for possible announcement of Mrs. Ahmad’s elevation also yielded no result as no such disclosure was made throughout 2017. When contacted on the telephone on Monday, the media officer of the NSE, Joseph Kadiri, could not immediately give response to the request. He, however, told PREMIUM TIMES to forward the request to him via email and promised to send to appropriate quarters for reply. More than 24 hours after the request was sent with reminders, PREMIUM TIMES has not gotten any response. But Mr. Omeife, Tuesday, suggested that disclosure of Mrs. Ahmad’s appointment as ED may not necessarily be made to the Nigerian bourse. “From the financial services perspective, the CBN handles issues involving people from ED (position) up (wards),” he said. When asked about the alleged double promotion the new CBN official reportedly enjoyed on the day she was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Omeife said he knew nothing about such development. “I don’t know about that; all I am meant to understand is that the president appointed her as CBN deputy governor and sent her name to the Senate for approval. Idon’t know about that (issue of double promotion). “But I know she is eminently qualified to be the CBN deputy governor and I am expecting young Nigerians to applaud her,” he said, in reference to Mrs. Ahmad’s academic and professional antecedents. He, however, said further enquiries should be directed to the CBN. But PREMIUM TIMES efforts to reach the CBN was futile. Isaac Okorafor, the apex bank’s spokesperson, did not answer or return calls to his known number. He also did not reply to a text message sent to him. PRIVILEGE BANKING VS ECONOMIC POLICY Many commentators alleged that her promotion to the position of executive director at Diamond Bank Plc was ‘fast-tracked’, a few hours to the announcement of her name by the Nigerian government. Insiders at the bank told PREMIUM TIMES she was promoted executive director hours to the announcement of her appointment to the CBN position. There was a company-wide announcement to that effect, our sources said. However, the CBN Act does not require that an appointee to that position must be an executive director of a bank, and it is not clear why she had to be controversially upgraded. Section 8 sub-section 1 of the CBN Act 2007 states, among others, that: “The Governor and Deputy Governors “shall be persons of recognised financial experience and shall be appointed by the President subject to the confirmation of the Senate.” Some commentators argue that Ms. Ahmad’s expertise may not be the kind of skills needed at the CBN. She is better known for overseeing privilege banking, securing accounts from high net-worth individuals, and providing private client services to wealthy customers. Her understanding of economic policies remained unclear. Abdul Mahmud, an Abuja-based attorney, said of the appointment, “That she replaces Sarah Alade as Deputy Governor of CBN in charge of economic policy- monetary policy, financial market, etc, before her retirement, makes her catapult curious. “With a background in accounting and professional training in consumer banking, you would ask: what was her appointor thinking? She is not a monetarist, there is nothing in her CV that shows that she is nuanced in monetary economics. “Well, with another misfit, Emefiele, at the helm of CBN, who has been accused of doing washwash -printing more naira notes- an Emefiele-esque Quantitative Easing (QE) -to address liquidity problem and creating the more serious problem of inflationary pressure- a process of policy catalyzation really- you will understand why the oracle has consistently argued that the government projection of the Economic and Recovery Growth Plan (ERGP) to reduce the inflation rate from 19% to 0% by 2020 is a pipe dream. “Brace up for harder, perilous, and more difficult economic times.” https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/245673-diamond-bank-evasive-on-promotion-of-new-cbn-deputy-governor-aishah-ahmad.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C2720245823 |

A Plateau State High Court on Friday sentenced a 20-year-old man, Ponjul Yakubu, to death by hanging, for shooting his father to death. Justice A.I. Ashoms gave the sentence after he found Yakubu guilty of a one-count charge of culpable homicide, punishable by death under section 221 of the Penal Code. “Going by the findings of this court, you, Ponjul Yakubu, mercilessly took the life of your father, Mr. Domsing Yakubu, in cold blood. “You have, however, shown remorse and appeared sober throughout your trial; however, this sentence is mandatory as the law states that any person convicted of murder shall be punished with death by hanging. “The sentence of this court upon you is that you, Ponjul Yakubu, will be hanged until you are dead. May God have mercy on your soul,” he declared. Yakubu was arraigned on July 8, 2015, to face a one-count charge of culpable homicide punishable by death, after allegedly committing the crime on May 5, 2015. Yakubu was specifically accused of using his father’s dane gun to kill him(father), while the old man was taking an afternoon nap under a tree in their home at Dorowa, in Vwang Gwong Village, Shendam Local Government, Plateau State. When Yakubu appeared in court, however, he pleaded not guilty to the allegation of killing his father. The Prosecution Counsel, Mr. Gideon Azi of the Plateau State Ministry of Justice, who investigated the matter, however, told the court that Yakubu had confessed to killing his father for refusing to buy a motorcycle for him. “He (Yakubu) confessed that he returned home on the said date and found his father sleeping on a mat under a tree, went into his (father)’s room, took his loaded gun and shot him at close range,” Azi told the court. Azi submitted Yakubu’s confessional statement to the court as evidence, and quoted the accused as saying that he committed the crime alone. Yakubu promptly owned up to the statement that bore his thumb print. Azi further quoted the accused as saying that his father, after harvesting about a thousand tubers of yam and several bags of maize and millet, promised to buy a motorcycle for him after selling them. The accused was further quoted as saying that his father sold the farm produce without consulting him, and also refused to buy the motorcycle as promised, an action that provoked him into killing him. After the judgement, Mr. Singa Zhatau, the Defense Counsel, said the judgement was right in view of the evidence presented in the court. “Before taking any further step to appeal, I want to state that the reasoning in this judgement is valid. “Justice is a three-way traffic – justice for the state, the accused and the victim. “I believe that this judgement would further reassure the society that justice can be obtained in the courts. “This confidence building will go a long way in addressing the rampant instances of jungle justice that are becoming common in the country,” he said. |
