Thanks boss you nailed it
bigfrancis21:
I recently converted my Nigerian drivers license to the US one and having a Nigerian license helps you to skip having a learner's permit first before the actual license if you didn't have your out of country license and you were applying as a fresh driver. I was actually in Virginia yesterday where I bought my new car from a dealership. I obtained mine in Maryland, and Virginia and Maryland being border states I guess the process will be similar. As one who's converting their out of country license, you would first take the 3 hour drug and alcohol class, take the test and pass it. You can take the class online at your convenience and whenever you're ready to take th test, go to the nearest drug and alcohol test center near you and take the test. They charge about $50 or so to take the test but you'll only pay after you've passed the test. You'll be given your certificate valid for 1 year from the date you passed.

Next you go to the nearest MVA near you for the online skills test. You'll need your original SSN card, proof of address here (if you have a bank account, you can print out one of the monthly account statements bearing your address, that should work), proof of lawful status (your I-20, I-94, etc.), proof of identity (your international passport) etc. Make sure you go with all required documents. Also, is your drivers license the original one? As in straight from Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Nigeria that bears the embossed seal of FRSC? If not, it may be rejected because when it gets to your turn the official will check it for originality. So many Nigerians I know that tried to convert theirs got their cards rejected because their licenses were not original. They had to apply as new drivers. However, mine was accepted because it's the original one from FRSC. To prepare for the online test there's a driving manual which usually can be downloaded from online at the MVA's website which you'll need to study for the test. Here in MD, you'd need to get at least 22 questions out of 25 correct to pass. About 50% pass and 50% fail the test at first attempt. After you pass the online skills test, the final step would be scheduling your drivers road test appointment. Right there at the MVA you would schedule a date for the actual road test. There's also walk-in for the road test if you don't wanna book a date but getting tested on any given day you go to the MVA is not assured due long queues of other walk-in candidates.

Any which way, before your drivers road test, be sure to go to a driving school near you to have them brush you up on your driving skills. Driving in the US is totally different from driving in Nigeria. There's a lot that you won't know from driving in Nigeria that applies to driving here and small things like that can make you fail your road test. Some schools charge like $70 for 2 hours and they'll brush you up and prepare you on what to expect on that day and they can also drive you to the MVA on your test day assuming you don't have a car of your own. Note this: driving to the MVA in a driving school's car helps you a lot as it shows your examiner that you have gone through necessary US driving lessons. Or you can have a friend drive you to the MVA with their own car but you must have had someone brush you up on your driving skills for the US. This is very important. Please do not skip this critical aspect of the process. Some schools may be booked up for the entire month but you can always ask them to refer you to any of their drivers personally that could do the same for you. In case you're unable to get a school or driver, let me know and i'll refer you to the driver that prepared me for my road test. The guy is extremely good.

After you pass your road test, then you can pay for your drivers license back at the MVA and it is usually processed immediately right there and given to you. Or if it's going to be mailed to you, they give you a temporary one to use. Congratulations on getting your drivers license! Remember, driving in the US is a privilege not a right.

I passed all my tests at first attempt starting from the 3 hour drug and alcohol test to the online test to the road test. They are not hard once you prepare for them.

Safe driving in the US. Don't drink and drive! Watch out for those crazy drivers and make sure you get your car insurance with full coverage, not liability only, for a new driver to the US especially for your first 6 months of driving here.

I just confirmed at https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/drivers/#eligibility.asp, scroll down to New Residents. The process for MD I just outlined above is the same for VA, except for the 3 hour drug and alcohol test part. Looks like you don't need it for a VA license, just go straight to the MVA/DMV. Let me know if you have any questions. Goodluck buddy.

Baba, yes i have SSN, do reconfirm is it transaction history or call history
slimmy2005:
Do you have social security card? Can you login into your phone bill and print it out. One proof of address should be fine. If it's not, they'll give you an afidavit form to fill there. Go with your I-20, your I-901 form ( you can print it online) and your international passport.

Thanks bro, Am new here barely 2 month i have a bank account i think i can get proof of residence from them but not sure about the house cos am currently staying with some friends and my name no dey the lease. i dey fairfax area
slimmy2005:
Where in Virginia are you? Try and go to the DMV, generally you'll need proof of residence. You can take your apt lease, your bills that shows your address. Go to your bank, they can also give you proof of address( tell them you want to apply for drivers license and they need proof of address). I think you'll need two proof of address. Some states will allow you do road test immediately since you have an international license. Just google DMV near me.

what did she do, full story please.
daguru:
I am writing to report the physical and emotional abuse to a girl child as a result of punishment meted out to her by her teachers at school. Please see attached pictures.

She was made to strip off her shorts and canned on her bare buttocks and slapped severely by the principal and 5 other teachers because she returned the slap on her face from the head girl who slapped her first. The head girl then reported to the school authorities who in turn physically battered her and then made her cut grass for 4 hours under the sun.

Her name is Ogechi Blessing, she is 14 years old and a SS2 Pupil of Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School at Bariga in Lagos State. This incident occurred on the 16th of March 2016. The perpetrators of this crime are

a. Mrs. C. O Coker (School Principal) slapped her severally
b. Mr. Bello (Maths Teacher), canned her and slapped her severally
c. Mr. Bakare (Economics Teacher) slapped her severally
d. Mrs. Tejumaye (English Teacher) slapped her severally
e. Mrs Omoge (Civic Education Teacher) slapped her severally
f. Mrs. Balogun (Vice Principal) slapped her severally

The Principal has refused to honor the request from the police officers at Bariga Police Station but instead brought soldiers to intimidate the officers investigating the case.

She has missed out on writing 4 exams since then.
Justice needs to be done for this inhumane act against the girl child.

Pics or i DONT BELIVEIT
BEEGOLD797:
Kind-hearted Police Officer In Ibadan

Yesterday i was on my way to meet up with an urgent appointment when i ran into an accident scene. An okada man just hit a little girl that was hawking on the road along Dugbe. I stop and rushed down to the scene to help carry the girl to a hospital people gather there the girl was bleeding serious from the deep cut she had on her forehead while the okada man too was Languishing in pains as he had dislocation on his arm and also bleeding. I told people standing that we sould take the girl to a hospital but we will need a police man to follow us or report in order to avoid police wahala, so a man joined me and we rush to Iyaganku police station we report the case and they call one of their officer and he quickly follow us to the accident scene, but getting there we could not see the girl again we were told by people around the scene that the girl has been taken to Jericho hospital. At that point I said to myself at least i have tried i should quickly be going to meet up with my appointment, but this police officer said the most strange thing that i v ever heard from a police officer mouth he said "please my brother go and turn and lets go to the hospital they might need money" i was stun and surprise that a police officer could say this, i have to quickly drive down to make a up turn.

We got to the hospital and saw the girl just laid on the bench and soaked in pool of her blood without anybody attending to her, the officer went in and asked the nurses and doctor why the girl is not attended to they said they will need money to buy the necessary materials to treat her, the officer said get me the list of the items i will pay for it, to my surprise this officer went to their cashier and paid for everything and immediately the nurses and doctor started treating the girl. He drop his number with them and told them if they still need anything they should call him that he has to quickly go back to the office his attention is needed. We left the hospital and i drop them off, while i was coming back from my appointment coincidentally i met the officer on the way going back to the hospital i just told him to come in so we could both check the girl in the hospital again because he said the doctor called him that the mother of the girl is around.

We got there and the doctor said they have taken care of the girl but most still come for some treatment for like 1/2weeks he now ask the mother hope she will bring the girl for treatment the mother said she would have love to but she doesn't have money, to my surprise this officer went back to the doctor and told him to give him the bill for the 2weeks treatment and this officer paid for it again and even went to d pharmacy there to buy the drugs they prescribe for the girl. I was like wao is this man a policer officer? For once i was proud of Nigeria Police Officer.

I collected his number and ask of his name and he told me he is SUPOL BILLY JOSEPH DT1 IYANGAKUN POLICE STATION ibadan.

Kudos to this officer if only we could have people like him in the force Nigeria could have been a better place for all. I am truly proud of him that's why I have to post these on this forum for us to appreciate the good ones among our officers.

PoliticsRe: 10 Types Of People You See At The Newspaper Stand In The South-east by kaykad: 9:20am On Jan 14, 2016
The by pass lookers: this particular one is just passing by
greatiyk4u:
TYPES OF PEOPLE YOU SEE AT A NEWSPAPER STAND IN THE SOUTH-EAST

Newspaper stand in this context is referred to an open booth or stand at which newspapers and periodicals are sold. this thread examines an aggregate of the individual views, attitudes, and beliefs about a particular topic, expressed by a significant proportion of a community of newspaper readers.

It is generally believed that people are entitled to their own opinion, but I think some opinions are superior and so should be adopted as a standard....... In most of the stands, people of different characters and background converge to express their opinion about the recent happenings in the country and beyond.. I therefore classify these people according to their preferred topic.

This post is not targeted at any body or tribe in particular and that no one should be perturbed as I have no bad feeling for anybody, it is a product of experience

1.THE BIAFRA SUPORTERS.................the zoo must fall

These are people of varying age brackets who will tell u of how the ZOO will fall before the end of the month. they are so much convinced of Biafra realization that u will hear from them how Russia,America,China,UN have given Buhari ultimatum to let our people goo.......according to them, once Biafra is actualized, there will be perfect peace in the land,no more poverty, unemployment and that any street tout that supports Biafra will be made Army officer..lolz......
u don't dare say anything against Biafra in their presence unless u hate ur life unfortunately none of them has contributed a dine in the account details Provided on radio Biafra for the struggle.....NB, I support Biafra but not through Kanu's strategy.

2.THE ANTI-APC/BUHARI

These group see every APC/Buhari supporter as an enemy of Ndi-igbo, to them anybody supporting APC is in support of islamizing Nigeria....unfortunately, u will hear stories like....Buhari is building an islamic university in Ebonyi state....(No name or address) and that when completed, our pple will be forced to join Islam.."Lolz
Again, they will tell u how Rochas used the whole of Imo state 2015 budget to build the highest MOSQUE in the world...(The person saying this may not have been to Imo state before)

3. THE JOB SEEKER.........

These ones usually come to the stand quitely with their pen and paper to copy addresses and vacancies advertised on the Naija dailies, they pay a token to peruse and give back the paper to the vendors

4. THE MBAKA SUPPORTERS...................

These ones are popularly called "umu ikuku" they come around to check headlines of Adoration news......they brag about how Daddy Mbaka is the only true man of God in the country that hears directly from the Holy Spirit.....hmmmm,
As far as Mbaka loves Buhari, any negative story against Buhari's govt.is a lie that should be discarded.....for real you shouldn't forget "not to touch my annoited and to my prophet do no harm" not minding the fact that the guy has commercialised and politicalized his ministry

5.THE NATIONALISTS.............................

These one are more of refined, educated, enlightened and exposed classes of people who normally comes around to buy newspapers.........they try as much as possible to avoid any discussion that encourages division,of any kind, be it political, tribal, religious and other wise....they diplomatically analyze Nigeria's,political and socio-economic problems and proffer lasting solutions to it...they encourage one Nigeria and may or may not belong to any political party.
Yours truly belongs to this group..........don't doubt me.

6.THE HISTORIANS.............................

These ones are mainly retired and active civil servants and old civilized men.they are very educating in their historical digest. they will tell you the history of Nigeria beyond colonization era, about the origin of bini kingdom and detailed history of Ojukwu,Biafra and other agitators. Some times, their history are not devoid of errors and exaggeration

7. THE POLITICIANS..............................

Just as the name implies, they know all the political calculations of Nigeria, their state and even Local governments know why all the government appointees were chosen and may even predict the next moves of our leaders

8.THE SPORTS ANALYST...................................

The know the history of every foot baller. u hear stories like we started street footballer together with Jay jay Okocha, kanu,Mikel and even Ronaldo just that luck is not by my side....................lolz

9.THE ONLOOKERS
These are group of dumb jobless and lazy persons who mostly come around to learn from these analysts.these analysts in return compound their problems the more with false information

10. Help out.
