CelebritiesYoruba Actors Ignored At AMVCA: Mercy Aigbe Cries by Kaymisola(op): 11:41am On Mar 20, 2013
The much talked about Africa Magic Viewers choice awards has come and ended and yes it was a success. Days after the event went down, it was still one of the most talked about issues on the social media platforms, ranging from the celebrities flaws/fabulous outfits at the red carpets to the speeches and presentation of wards. Of course, the movie "Othelo Burning" carried the day while Mercy Johnson, OC Ukeje, Olu Jacobs, Tunde Kelani etc were amongst the awardees.
Anyways, Yoruba actress Mercy Aigbe has this to say about the AMVCA
"Nawa oh! African Viewer's choice award not even one Yoruba artist presented! Na so we worst ni? *crying* o ga oh!"
But mehn, it's true oh, no yoruba actor/actress presented any award plus the yoruba actors at the event were few....

CelebritiesAn Exclusive Interview With Helen Paul by Kaymisola(op): 3:50pm On Mar 18, 2013
Helen Paul-Bamisail has been a household name in entertainment industry. The Edo State- born comedian, presenter, singer and actress popularly known as Tatafo doesn’t need any introduction. Ask any Nigerian kid and he would tell you that lady who mimicked our voice.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) graduate of Theatre Art is counting her blessing on her baby voice that has brought her to limelight with little or no scandal. In an exclusive interview with Saturday Sun, the mother of one bared her mind on her journey into entertainment as an all-rounder and why the name Tatafo.

Background

I am from Edo State but born and bred in Lagos.

I attended all my schools in Lagos- primary school to the university. I had my Master’s degree and other certificates in Lagos. The name Tatafo Tatafo was given to me by a friend called Matthew. Matthew is someone that is very hilarious. We used to work together at Eko Mix school’s, that’s Eko FM.

And most times we sit together and exchange jokes. So, later Matthew left Eko real mix studios and got a job at Radio Continental as a producer. He suggested that I could use this Tatafo thing as a good content on radio. I accepted the idea as longer I would make a living out of it.

Sincerely, I just enjoy mimicking people and I mimic not just children, even adults, friends and family. By so doing, I was now able to adopt the baby voice and ever since I’ve been using it. Growing up Very funny, I had an interesting scenario and a lot of fun.

I grew up in Fadeyi area of Lagos with my great-grandmother, a strong disciplinarian. Later I started staying with my mum, though she is playful, but at the same time disciplined. She doesn’t need to shout on you or talk too much, with her blinks alone, you already know what she means. Her singing also tells you something, so you should know what to do. I grew up with those things, learning to talk with non-verbal communication. It was very interesting and that’s what made me who I am today.

Parents

My dad is in Abuja and he is someone who is busy, but my mum is the one I see every time when I need to pay school fees, eat and when I cry. She laughs with me when I laugh. She is always there with me. That’s why I am always fond of her as the only child.

Challenges

I don’t think I have challenges in my life. I didn’t actually know I was going to shine. So, I’m always enjoying myself, doing what I like to do best. But I didn’t really struggle. I was actually shocked at a point that I would get this type of attention, audience and love from my fans. Sincerely, I want to use this opportunity to thank all my fans that showed me love and made me feel special.

With my fans, I don’t think and feel like coming out faking. I would like to come out real- the way I want to look, talk, dance and jump. They make me work hard and try to give them new things. So, when we talk about challenges really, I am just grateful to God because I’m not always talking about odd moments. If you keep celebrating your past, you will never move forward.

So, I only look forward.

Marriage

I got married in 2010. I met my husband through my boss, Uncle Paul in our office then in Eko FM and we were friends. He was first brother. I used to call him brother, but now I call him by by his name, Femi. For me, I’m just enjoying myself. Anything I feel like doing, I invest in it and tell God about it. I am not thinking evil of anyone, I’ve never thought of destroying anybody’s life nor doing any evil to someone. So, why should my own have any problem? Things would work for me except anyone that is sitting down, thinking of evil and not have time to think of new ideas. I’ve never thought of all that.

There’s no way you will be plain with God that things will not keep coming to you. Ideas and concepts would be coming, but when you are there, destroying other people, busy thinking of what you`re not meant to think, of course you will not be able to come out with concepts or ideas. Why celebrity marriages crash No one wants to break up his/her marriage, no one wants to cry.

It can happen because there are no rules on how you can stay in marriage. If God is helping you, you thank your God. If it is not working for other people, we have to pray for them that God will help them locate the best person that would make them happy all their lives. It’s not just in entertainment industry that marriage problem comes. No, it happens in other industries but just because we are famous, that’s why people keep shouting that actresses, actors, musicians, comedians and those in the industry don’t stay in marriage.

The real fact is that it happens, it’s a normal thing that happens in our society. It happens in the banking sector. It happens to doctors, lawyers, etc. No one wants marriage break-up, no one wants to pull out of marriage. Marriage is a good thing, but you know, it’s not easy coming together as husband and wife. That means you`re thinking of the other person. Scandal Some people always abuse me too.

Sometimes when I don’t have time to make up, they abuse me. They would say that without make-up I’m not fine. Some people would say I’m a short woman, but I don’t care because it is not about size. If they don’t talk about you, that means you are no more living or relevant.

Programmes

I like it. I feel very cool. I just love camera. When I see camera or anytime I see micro-phone in front of me, I’m always excited. Experience doing her job and at the same time pregnant It was not easy, our body is different. For me, I’m a sanguine.

It’s very funny. Whenever I was pregnant, the child would start blowing me when I was on duty. I would caution him not to disturb me, that I am working. I would tell the unborn baby, “You know I’ve tried by transporting you down to Nigeria, so you too behave yourself.”. I took my drugs when I was meant to take them. It’s not easy being a mother. Advice to youths I tell them to keep being themselves, live a positive life and don’t try to please anyone. If someone is wearing Brazilian hair, you wear your three-in-one if you can afford it and carry yourself well. Success is not the way you look, it is what is inside you.

If you are joyful and happy inside, the sky is your limit or your beginning. Just keep being yourself and don’t let anyone talk down to you. You don’t try and follow what the society wants you to be. Who does God want you to be? Those are the questions you should be asking yourself. It is up to you to confess it over and over again to yourself that you are a great woman of substance, different from other women.

Vision

We thank God for the gift of life. The Bible says, “Write the vision and make it clear so that men can run along with you”. So, this is the vision you’re seeing now. I have a bridal shop, I sell ankara, lace fabrics and all stuff. I want God to keep giving me concepts; I pray for more ideas, I pray to get better each year, each time and season. If you cannot utilise your dreams, someone else would use them to utilize his/her own.

Crazy experience by a fan

My fans are my friends and my love.

One of the experiences I had was the day a fan slapped me from behind, out of excitement, but I could not talk. I am sure I cannot take that again. Such a person would be arrested person. Treasure Truth be told, God’s mercy. I value His mercy; I pray His grace should not leave me. Advice by her mother concerning sex and men She told me, “Don’t open your laps for men, they are bad”. Everybody is my friend, I said so, but men are bad, simple. And they are very deceptive. I had it in mind.

So, I fought them, I made them my friends and nothing more than friends. Not only men that deceive, women deceive too and women’s own is worse. Most times, I’m the one that breaks their hearts, because I have many male friends. Often, men don’t actually see me as a girl they can toast, rather they see me as a sister. My mind is not dirty, anything that wants to happen would happen, first through your mind.

So, my mind is plain and their mind too is plain. It is when one is thinking of evil that evil would come and consume the person. I was a tomboy, so they didn’t see me as a girl, they saw me as a sister. Uti and me My husband is jealous of me and my love Uti. He is my love on Jara show, nobody can take the place of it. Uti is my love, because Uti makes me get money from Jara. I like Uti very well.

Music album

As I said, every gift of God within me must find expression. I have talent to sing, dance and do comedy.

I have talent to sell things, so I am just enjoying myself. Stage fright As I said before, be yourself, enjoy what you do and definitely people would identify with you. Once you are good, people will follow you. People, who wouldn’t want to follow will sit down, so just be you and observe your society.

Acting career

I act now. My director and producer, Elvis Chuks invited me one day.

He said I’m funny and should come and act. I demanded my money and he quickly paid me and I was very happy. When I heard I was going to act along with Funke Akindele, Mama G and Bishop, I was excited. That brought out the joy in me. We did it, so we thank God.

CelebritiesOh, Not Again! Who Is Jim Iyke Referring To? Linda Ikeji? by Kaymisola(op): 10:07pm On Mar 16, 2013
Jim Iyke tweeted this last night "SILENCE can never be misquoted; it saves you from unnecessary battles, annoys your haters and leaves the reply to God" Goodnight...lol"

Though he didn't mention a particular name but the first name that came to my mind was Linda Ikeji, you know they are both enemies..no, it's actually this way....he dislikes Linda....but Linda is indifferent.
Linda Ikeji was actually the first blogger to blog about the Jim Iyke's "super-wonderful" outfit to the AMVCA but he surprisingly didn't attack her like he used to...so that's probably why he tweeted this last night or what do you think?

Celebrities"I Did It For Annie" Governor Akpabio Defends His Wedding Gift To 2face by Kaymisola(op): 6:56pm On Mar 14, 2013
Governor of Akwa Ibom, Dr. Godswill Akpabio has defended his controversial wedding gifts to Tuface Idibia and his wife, saying the gifts were “only a gesture of love and goodwill” to commend the wife for standing by her husband from his days of humble beginnings.

The governor however denied the speculated amount of gifts stating that only members of Mrs Idibia’s family will be sponsored to the couples wedding in Dubai and not members of the government.
The governor, who hosted a lavish traditional engagement ceremony for the celebrity couple in Eket, was reported to have declared a gift of two brand new Toyota Prado SUVs for the couple and also vowed to sponsor 29 people to their forthcoming nuptial in Dubai.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umana, on Thursday, via a phone conversation that the state governor decided to “assist Annie Idibia so that her family members and close friends who are citizens of Akwa Ibom, who cannot afford the trip will be with her on her wedding day.”
“I wonder why they (mischief makers) like taking on Governor Akpabio. Is it because he is a nice man” Mr Umana asked.

A statement by the Commissioner on Wednesday stated that the Governor only approved a car, and not two, for the couple.
He also said he only promised to sponsor 20, and not 29, wedding guests to Dubai for the couple’s white wedding.
The statement explained that state government is “only sponsoring the travel expenses of twenty of her family members at an estimated cost of roughly Three Million Naira (N3,000,000.00) only.”
The statement reads as follows: “following spurious and false speculations in the social media concerning the wedding gift by Governor Godswill Akpabio to Mrs. Annie Innocent Idibia, née Macaulay, I wish to state as follows:
“That the Governor of Akwa Ibom State Chief Godswill Akpabio, donated ONE Prado jeep to Mrs. Annie Innocent Idibia, nee Macaulay a daughter of Akwa Ibom State and renowned artist during her traditional marriage at Eket.”
“That the State Governor as a token of support for the couple promised to fund the traveling expenses (economy return tickets) for ONLY TWENTY relatives of Mrs. Annie Idibia Macaulay to Dubai, where the couple have chosen to wed.”

CelebritiesChris Brown To Be Jailed In Ghana For Smoking WEED On Stage by Kaymisola(op): 6:08pm On Mar 14, 2013
Chris Brown is under police investigation for smoking WEED while performing in Ghana Wednesday, detailed a statement released by Ghana law enforcement Monday, according to Ghana Web.
“Police have commenced investigation into the formal complaint of Indian hemp smoking made by the CEO of POS Foundation, Mr. Jonathan Osei- Wusu on 6th March 2013 at the Ministries Police station against the popular American RnB artist Chris Brown,” the statement read.
“The American RnB star,” the police noted, “is alleged to have smoked Indian hemp while performing on stage at the Accra Sports Stadium in the early hours of Wednesday 6th March 2013.”
Ghana’s Section 5 of narcotic drugs [Control Enforcement and Sanctions] Act, 1990 stipulates that ‘a person shall not, without lawful authority or excuse, smoke, sniff, consume, inject into the body or otherwise administer a narcotic drug on the body of that person.’”
“Half way through his impressive 90 minutes performance, which saw him use excessive vulgar language, at the Hope City Concert at the Accra Sports Stadium” said Ernest Dela Aglanu, a source for dailypress.com, “Chris Brown quizzed the over a thousand crowd, ‘How many of yall smoke weed?’
After that question, the singer stated: ‘If anybody tripping on ya’ll smoking weed, f— them.’
‘S—, I got my blunt right here’ he added and pulled out a neatly rolled stick of kush,” proceeding to smoke the narcotic on stage.
However, the Executive Director of Charter House, Theresa Ayowade, denied the allegations and described the offense as “an act from a song”:
“Chris Brown did a series of acts on stage and this act in question which you are talking about is an act from a song; an act about a dual personality; should I do this or should I not? He did not smoke on stage. It was a cigar that he did a demo with.”

CelebritiesI’m Starting Over’ – Dr SID ‘unfollows’ Everyone On Twitter by Kaymisola(op): 3:23pm On Mar 14, 2013
The Pop singer shocked his many fans on the popular social network when he ‘unfollowed’ the 4,920 Twitter accounts he had been following for a while.

He gave no particular reason for his action, but dropped a couple of hints… ‘I‘m starting over. #lifeistooshort live your life and let others live theirs “what YOU eat doesn’t make ME shit”. My true followers will understand, for everyone else all i can say is sorry. If you’re still here when i’m ready to continue, we’ll have fun together if not hope you have a fulfilled life‘, he wrote on Twitter after ‘unfollowing’ everyone. He continued ‘in your time of trouble or despair, your true friends will show themselves, stand up and be counted .. and ur enemies shall also be revealed’. CelebritiesR.E.V.E.A.L.E.D! Why Jonathan Pardoned A Thief, Alamieyeisegha by Kaymisola(op): 9:23am On Mar 14, 2013
Presidential pardons are used all over the world and have their basis in Matthew 6:12, which states "and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us". The principle is also found in the Qur’an which says “But if you pardon and exonerate and forgive, Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [Qur’an, 64: 14].
Sources who have details of the goings on in Aso Rock have disclosed that President Jonathan decided to pardon Alamieyiesegha to prove to Obasanjo, Babangida and other powerful ex-Generals that he is indeed in charge of Nigeria at the moment and can do what he pleases.
The president, according to a source, wants to remain in Aso Rock at all cost in 2015 and will do everything to win the barking of the Ijaw nation. And since Alamieyeisegha is still a powerful force in the Niger Delta, pardoning him is the best way to give him (Alams) free access to Aso Rock and other "critical areas" during the 2015 Presidential campaign.

Celebrities5 Hilarious Answers By Africans To 'STUPID' Questions From Americans (LOL) by Kaymisola(op): 6:02pm On Mar 13, 2013
If you have lived outside of Nigeria long enough, you must have gotten questions like the ones below. Not only are they ridiculous, but some of them are downright offensive.

Note: I paraphrased some of the responses, and added my own jara in some of them. See if you can figure out which is which.
1. Question: How did you get here (to America)?
Answer: I swung from tree to tree across oceans and seas, and Voila! Here I am!
2. Question: Do you live in mud houses?
Answer: But of course we do. In fact *whips out a leather bag with a hut engraved on it* This was my hut in Ghana. It was on a tree, right next to your (American) father's hut.
3. Question: What are those marks on your face? *referring to tribal marks*
Answer: Oh! I got them while fighting lions and tigers.
4. Question: Do you know [insert name of "random-African-you-just-met-today" here e.g. Kunle]? He's a tall, black, skinny, African guy.
Preferred Answer: *blank stare and walks away*
Alternate Answer: Oh, do you know Bob? He's a tall, skinny white guy, and he goes to this school.
5. Question: Do Africans wear clothes?
Preferred Answer: See Answer to # 4.
**Bonus Question: Do Africans have tails? *No Answer* I mean, Dear Reader, kindly look behind you and answer this question. Do you have a tail? *smh*
The sad part about all this is not just that someone would ask such ignorant questions, but that that person would actually believe these answers.
So, what ridiculous questions have you been asked and what were your answer?

EducationFemale Lecturer Slumps During Lectures At The Nigerian Law School, Lagos by Kaymisola(op): 1:27pm On Mar 11, 2013
Pandemonium broke out in the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos in the early hours of today when one of their female lecturers slumped while lecturing her class.
My source authoritatively tells me that she passed out while taking her class of over a thousand on 'criminal litigation' course.
Immediately she slumped, her students rallied round her, carried her out of well air conditioned class to the clinic.
"Everyone was alarmed, confused, some students were even crying...it took a while before the tense atmophere was calmed!"
The reason for "her collapse" is yet to be ascertained but she's since been revived and she is now responding to treatment!

CelebritiesAMVCA Gist: The Good, The Bad And The Winners by Kaymisola(op): 11:06pm On Mar 09, 2013
The much talked about Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards went down tonight at the Eko hotel and suites and it was INDEED a success. It began with Denrele Edun hosting the red carpet - he was a bit hyper active but he handled it so well - at least well enough to prove that he has gotten over Goldie's death.
Oh by the way, in the early hours of today, Denrele Edun honoured Goldie by tweeting "Goldie and I had already picked our outfits for the #AMVCA but worry not Golden One, I'm wearing al d colors u chose for ur elegant dress!" AND "Goldie and I were supposed to dazzle Africa at d first ever #AMVCA happening 2mrw but gurl, I'm reppin for u by hostin d Redcarpet LIVE!" AND "Goldie and I had already picked our outfits for the #AMVCA but worry not Golden One, I'm wearing al d colors u chose for ur elegant dress!"
DENRELE TWEETS
So back to the main gist - you see, virtually all the celebrities were interviewed on the red carpet but some of the notable ones (those that stirred up controversies on twitter) were Geneveive Nnaji (thanks to her stunning white gown that exposed her
tinyboobs, I even heard Denrele asking why You no wear underwear), Desmond Elliot (his new hair do...the dreads didn't exactly fit him -----> that's what tweeps said on twitter), Denrele (for being hypertive), Oluchi (for throwing a verbal bomb!!! she said "may the best one wins"wink and the many celebrities that were sweating on the red carpet, making one wonder if the place was that hot - were the ACs not working?!

munch_2013_03_09_185832(1)BE7slBhCEAEj8J1
The event proper kicked off at seven and it was hosted by IK Osakioduwa & Vimbai Mutinhiri. Femi Kuti performed with his band on stage, Iyanya performed his usual song - Your Waist, Banky W performed Yes/No, Tiwa Savage, Oh Tiwa, she honoured the late Goldie by singing her Say My Name before performing her own song and then the Sautisol guys from Kenya also performed.
And Yes, Vimbia the host changed like three times -why? Even Genevieve changed her outfit too...Tunde Kelani, Olu Jacob, Oc Ukeje, Mercy Johnson And Akin Omotosho were the Nigerians that carried the day at the event.
And finally many of the female celebrities were beautifully dressed in gorgeous gowns, Jackie Appiah, Liz Benson, The New Tinsel Girl, Stephanie Okereke, Rita Dominic, Nadia Buari...so many of them...they rocked!! oh btw, I forgot to add that Jim Iyke's outfit, made him look like a mordernized village headmaster! And a quickie...someone just said "Who would ve tot Genevieve Nnaji and Funke Akindele would come back from the #AMVCA empty handed?"Yes oo,afta al d nominations." Okbye!
Photos to come soon....

CrimeWoman Goes Missing After Attending Rccg's Holyghost Service by Kaymisola(op): 8:55am On Mar 08, 2013
One 33-year-old woman, Folashade Odumola, has been reported missing!!!
Her family members claim she went missing after attending the monthly Holy Ghost Service at the Redeemed Camp organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God at Mowe, Ogun State.

According to Punch.....
Odumola was last seen by her family when she left her Egbeda home at about 1pm to see some customers at Isolo before heading for the sevice. Odumola was said to have called her younger sister, Opeyemi, on the telephone about 5pm to inform her that she was still at Isolo.
Opeyemi said, “Odumola usually takes her wares to her customers at their place of work; she has customers in both private and public institutions. Last Friday, she went to the Isolo LG. She called me at about 5pm to tell me that she was still there.
“After some hours, she called me again at about 10pm to say she had arrived safely at the Redeemed camp.
She added that that was the last time she had heard from Odumola.
For the last six years, Odumola was said to have maintained a routine. Whenever she attended the Friday camp service which usually lasted throughout the night, she would return home the next day by 6am.
Opeyemi said, “At first when she didn’t show up between 6am and 7, no one called. We all assumed she had stopped by the market to buy some ingredients. She had been contracted to bake a friend’s birthday cake that day.
“By 8am, we began to be worried and started calling her. The phone would ring repeatedly but someone at the other end kept cutting the call. It wasn’t until 5pm on Saturday that a man eventually answered the call. He had an Igbo accent.”
The stranger did not identify himself and did not answer Opeyemi’s questions about her sister’s whereabouts. Instead the stranger was said to have queried her on what her sister’s occupation was. Opeyemi was said to have replied that she was a student and asked the stranger what he was doing with Odumola’s phone.
“When he wouldn’t give me a direct answer, I asked him where he was and he told me he was at Alausa. I quickly boarded a bus and headed for Ikeja with my twin sister. When we got there, we called the guy to get the exact location, only for him to say he was at Badagry. That was when we realised that he wasn’t serious,” Opeyemi recalled.
An in-law to the family, Abiodun Kayode, said the family had searched every nook and cranny of both Lagos and Ogun State without result.
He said, “I have been to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and Igbobi hospital severally; we wanted to make sure that Odumola was not at their emergency wards. Eventually on Monday, I went to the Mowe Police Division to make a report. I also went to Redeemed Camp and met with their security personnel. I was directed to a police post within the camp and they told me that there was no person like Odumola there.”
The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos Command, Mr. Damascus Ozoani, confirmed the incident. He said, “We cannot say categorically that this is a kidnap. If it were, the abductors would have asked for money; there would have been some communication with Odumola’s family. However, we have begun investigation to ascertain Odumola’s whereabouts.”

CelebritiesLove Broken! Liam Hemsworth And Miley Cyrus Call Off Their Wedding by Kaymisola(op): 3:24pm On Mar 07, 2013
It has been alleged that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth might be calling off their wedding - oh no- they shouldn't!
Hollywoodlife reports that the lovebirds have called off their wedding following allegations he (Liam) had cheated on her (Miley) with Mad Men actress January Jones. Miley has been dancing to Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies”! “Liam and Miley are done,” says a source to Us Weekly “Miley put her career on hold to spend all her time with Liam. Now that she is back recording her fourth album, he’s not happy. She says she’s already over it,” continues the source, who says that “work has put a stress on their relationship.”
Meanwhile another source claims “They still love each other and hope to make it work.”
Also, Miley Cyrus took to Twitter yesterday to deny she had called off her wedding. The couple, who became engaged last May, have not been seen together since Liam was photographed partying with the pretty blonde on Oscar weekend.
"I am so sick of La. And sick of the lies that come with it," she tweeted. "I didn't call off my wedding. Taking a break from social media. #draining"
Insiders said the couple, who have been partying separately over the last few weeks, have hit a rough patch but are keen to get through it.
"The wedding is still on,” a source told People. “Miley and Liam have had some problems that they are working through."
The young couple got together when filming the 2010 movie the 'Last Song', though split briefly after just a few months of dating.
They were all over the news when they got engaged lastyear

Anyways, it's because it's Nasarawa sha, they can't try it in Lagos, Port Hacourt or Abuja camp.

EntertainmentMust Read! The Last Hug I Gave Goldie by Kaymisola(op): 4:10pm On Mar 05, 2013
So I read this article that really touched me, here's an excerpt of the article..."I still do not support Tru Friendship, and I may never come around, but I miss Goldie as a person. I wish I had hugged her tighter that day, had been nicer. I wish I had taken a picture with her, I wish I had made her feel just a little bit better about herself. I mourn Goldie not because I knew her personally, but because she really was a sweetheart and it just hurts to lose someone that young and vibrant." Lolz, if it had happened at a Nigerian wedding, the first response from people would have been "Aye N se yin", that is, 'Supernatural forces are working against you"! Seriously, why would you lose the wedding ring, use your mother in law's wedding ring and then find the ring hours after the wedding, weird right?! /QDrsvA
