Someone has 7.4!!!! I hope that is a desktop or else that laptop will catch fire soon with all that OC. |
adedayoone:Are you sure about that? I know they are obliged to provide the information to the government and its security establishment, but are they "Required" to supply said information to foreign embassies even without the applicant signing a disclosure agreement? I know it doesn't work like that abroad, so why would we grant them that privilege? |
I give whoever is footing the Harpo (Oprah's company) bill kudos. Apparently a lot of people still think this is free, i am certain it is a paid Ad. Na yam to get mentioned on Oprah. This is Oprah that picks up a book and it becomes an international bestseller. The link supplied on Oprah's website with the Genevieve tit-bits, directing visitors to francofilms website only buttress this point. All Franco films has to do is pick the best of the lot, i guess Genevieve was it. |
I am vacating my 3 bedroom flat in Ibadan, contact me if you are still interested. Flat is located at Orita challenge. Neat, nice flat. I did a lot of things in the flat like repainting, changing entrance wooden doors to metal, kitchen cabinet amongst other. Still has 8 months lease left on it. Dovent:http://letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=exchange+vs+lotus ![]() Your choice will boil down to what your needs are. Exchange is by far more popular than Lotus Dominos but you will get the argument that Lotus is more secure, but since i am a firm believer that the security of a system is as secure as the person administering it, that is an argument i always throw out the window. Exchange 2007 made major strides in terms of Unified messaging system but lotus supporter will argue it has an edge with its built-in web conferencing without the need for a third party add-on. I have limited experience with lotus but i have heard stories from colleagues it can be really unstable, on the other hand i have administered exchange servers for years and some installations i don't even touch for over 4 year apart from installing updates/SP. I like Exchange it works great for me, my main grouse is it's intelligent message filter/spam filtering, which i backup using free mail server solutions with serious filtering rules., but if a vote is being cast, i am all for exchange. Biggest question for you would be what is your company's requirement, as their are a lot of cheaper or free solutions that may meet your company's needs. Your operating system platform or expertise will play a huge role in your decision. Google is your best tool to determine the best solution for you. Good luck |
FBS:I will agree with persist to an extent, if i am to advise someone who is just starting out. It will be a lot cheaper to run a virtual environment with the different platforms. Since you can virtualize both Server and client OS. It is a very good way to brush up your knowledge or do an in-place upgrade before rolling them out to your production environment. Of course since the host OS controls the hardware, you pretty much lose the benefits of fully customizing hardware/each OS but then again the intricacies of getting guest operating system to run seamlessly on a host is a task by itself. in other words, whichever way you go. You cant go wrong. One way or another you are going to be confronted with both scenarios in the near future. |
Umm, Interesting thread. A Systems/Network Administrator (with more emphasis on networking) reporting for duty. New to this forum, actually my second day. Currently supervises operations for an IT consulting firm with diverse client base; from Attorney's, to Health Care providers and even Pizza company . So there is no boring day at the office as they all have different needs which require different solutions. We also have a web hosting company with about 48 web servers, a combination of Linux (Mostly CentOS) and Windows 2003 server, some of which are running on VMWare ESX. If clients are not screaming on the phone about their intranet issues, you can be sure some script kiddies from Asia will be trying to breach your web server security. You have to LOVE doing this job, the education will lay the foundation but it is your passion for the work that will be your true ally. Resourcefulness is another trait you've got to have, You have to be prepared for many sleepless nights, some of which you cant even bill or get paid for. I cant remember the last time i went to bed at 2:00am (holidays/vacations aside); that has to be before i started playing "Where in the World is Carmen Santiago" and "Wolfenstein 3D" on my 20mhz 386 back then . It is all an effort to be good at what i do, after all, "Anything worth doing is , "I have seen so many administrator get confounded at little issues solely because they have no clue where to start troubleshooting, they forget a system running smoothly is bound to cough someday. The system will eventually come back up but the question is when. To avoid extensive downtime you've got to think ahead and always have a backup plan especially when everything else fails. Take for instance in our data-center we have at least a spare of every hardware from Router to memory modules at any given time and our clients data are not just protected using RAID configuration, we go further by implementing continuous backup solutions preferably offsite where possible. There are always those companies that are cheap or cash-strapped but at least let them know so they don't come back and lay the problem at your feet, when katakata burst. Well that is my 2 kobos, hopefully i will be able to visit here often to share ideas and learn new things, because we can learn from each other no matter when you started. What you were encountered on your first day at work may turn out to be what i have to deal with tomorrow. It will be easier if it is not all in one thread though, because questions and the proffered solution is bound to get all muddled up in-between replies. |
Another trumped up excuse to make us spend more money; male or female. It is amazing how some women say they don't care about V-Day, Yeah, until you forget it. |
I have only being back a couple of weeks and i like what Fashola is doing, provided he's got alternative options to the displaced, bear in mind this are people trying to make ends meet without resorting to crime. In the long run i think his efforts will go a long way in improving Lagos by not only providing a clean and safer environment but better living for everyone. I for one am glad that sordid and disgusting Oshodi area is gone, i have been robbed twice driving through there. It is an unhealthy eye-sore that tarnishes the states image http://travel.msn.com/Guides/MSNTravelSlideShow.aspx?cp-documentid=851621>1=41000 . GOOD RIDDANCE!!! |
What next? A Black bird that is bewitching folks? They spent time chasing a goat but they are quick to look or run the way, when the REAL criminals comes a-calling |
I guess it is high time 9ger goes back to the good ol' days of Groundnut pyramid in the north and the cocoa in the west among others. Something they seem to have discarded for the oil boom era. |
You can be sure this will happen again, what piques my curiosity is if they have enough brains to make those million, how come they don't use an iota of it (common sense) when buying land by getting a lawyer. It is just plain stupid!!!! ! |
i would think if it wasn't addressed before you moved in, the burden of proof to show those damages wasn't done during your tenancy falls squarely on you. As already stated by the lawyer earlier, it depends on what you signed. |
