Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka has publicly apologized to the Catholic Church and the Bishop of the Diocese of Enugu State, Bishop Callistus Onaga, for the unruly behavior of his supporters in Enugu following rumors of his "disappearance"

Mbaka, who is the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), explained what happened on the day his adherents feared he had been abducted.

He explained that he had no idea his members had stormed the Bishop's residence to cause havoc on May 5. He said that when he heard, in his haste to get to his members and calm them down, he almost had an accident.

On Sunday, May 9, Mbaka went on his knees and apologized to Bishop Onaga, the Catholic church in Enugu, and the universal Church for the damage done by his followers at the Bishop’s house at Igbo Eze Street, Independence Layout Enugu, and Holy Ghost Cathedral, Ogui Enugu.

Bandits have released a video of a pregnant student and others who were

abducted from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Afaka, Kaduna State in March.

The bandits who had initially demanded N500 million ransom from the government, reached out to some parents of the abducted students after the Kaduna state government failed to comply.

One of the bandits was heard speaking in Hausa and later Fulfulde in a four-minute, 56 seconds video shot at night in an unknown location. He asked some of the students to come forward and speak to the camera.

The pregnant woman who the bandits addressed as Hajiya pleaded with their parents to rescue them. She said;

“We are appealing to our parents to help us, we are tired and there is no food. They should do their best to get us out of this place. We have spent 47 days, almost all of us are ill and there is no food. We sleep in the open even when it rains."

The Edo State Police Command in collaboration with a vigilante group has smashed a human trafficking syndicate and rescued 19 children and some women.

Spokesperson of the command, Kontongs Bello, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, April 20, said the women and children were trafficked from Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Anambra, and Akwa Ibom States respectively to Evbuotubu in Ekenwan Road axis of Benin City, the state capital.

Bello stated that the raid and rescue operation took place on Thursday, April 16, adding that the principal suspect is currently on the run.

"The women said they were lured from their various home states by a woman named Jennifer also called Ezine with surname yet unknown, the woman is now on the run. They were lured in a guise that Edo State Government is giving financial support to single mothers with newborn babies especially twins," the statement says.
