sorosoke101: A distressing video has emerged online showing the wife, mother, and children of the bouncer who is said to have died in the accident involving Sam Larry yesterday on the coastal highway in Lagos.
OluwasolaDabora: A former senior aide to the late founder of Tansian University, Umunya, Anambra State, Very Rev. Msgr. Prof. John Bosco Akam, has accused Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Dr. Edwin Obiorah of making what he described as false claims about co-founding the institution.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Chidipeters Okorie, who also served as the Public Relations Officer of Tansian University for nearly two decades, alleged that Fr. Obiorah was fabricating claims in an attempt to hijack the university. He dismissed reports that Fr. Obiorah co-founded the institution after returning to Nigeria from the United States in 2004, describing the assertion as false and historically inaccurate.
Speaking with evident nostalgia, Okorie repeatedly referred to his late principal by his full name — Very Rev. Msgr. Prof. John Bosco Uchechukwu Ndubeze Nwachinaemere Ugiriejiemeaku Akam — describing him as the sole founder and driving force behind Tansian University. He said the institution was conceived, developed and ultimately established by Akam with financial backing from both foreign and Nigerian partners.
"Msgr Prof Akam single-handedly founded Tansian University with financial assistance from his foreign partners, Dan W. Hill, Andrew Bowen, Msgr Rechberger and Rory Knight, as well as Nigerian supporters including Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, Chief Vincent Oforlobe, Andy Ubah, Dr. Eloka Menakaya and Nze Raph Obiorah," Okorie said.
He maintained that while many individuals contributed financially or offered support to the project, none could be described as a co-founder alongside the late Akam.
Okorie also disputed reports that Fr. Obiorah identified the late Rev. Fr. Lambert Ejiofor as the principal architect behind the university's creation, insisting that such claims were untrue and amounted to fabricated falsehoods.
According to him, Fr. Obiorah's involvement with Tansian University came much later and was confined to legal services rendered on behalf of the institution.
"His relationship with the university started in 2017 when he was engaged as the institution's external legal adviser," Okorie said.
"He was retained on a professional fee of ₦250,000."
Okorie further claimed that Monsignor Akam first met Fr. Obiorah in early 2017 during discussions involving the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, concerning the proposed transfer of the Missionary Sons of Blessed Iwene Tansi from the Diocese of Ijebu-Ode to the Diocese of Awka.
According to his account, Fr. Obiorah was then serving as a diocesan lawyer and was invited to assist with the legal documentation required for the proposed ecclesiastical transfer.
However, Okorie said the process was never completed after Monsignor Akam was incardinated into the newly created Diocese of Ekwulobia. He argued that the timeline alone demonstrates that Fr. Obiorah could not have played any role in founding Tansian University, as the planning, regulatory engagement, and institutional framework had already been completed. He added that the university had already obtained its provisional and operational licences and had produced several sets of graduates years before his professional relationship began.
"The facts simply do not support any claim that he co-founded the university," Okorie said.
He also alleged that attempts to alter or reinterpret the institution's ownership history would ultimately fail because the documentary record remains intact.
"No amount of effort to misrepresent the ownership or founding history of Tansian University will succeed," he said.
To reinforce his position, Okorie outlined what he described as Monsignor Akam's long record of academic distinction, ecclesiastical leadership and educational entrepreneurship, arguing that these achievements clearly established his capacity to conceive and execute a project of Tansian University's scale long before Fr. Obiorah became associated with the institution.
According to Okorie, Akam demonstrated exceptional academic ability from the earliest stages of his priestly formation. After enrolling at Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, for philosophical studies, he reportedly progressed from first-year philosophy to the final year within six months because of outstanding academic performance.
He later completed theological studies with first-class honours before being ordained a Catholic priest on 24 April 1976 in Uga. His early pastoral ministry included assignments in Nnokwa and Akpu before he returned to All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha, where he served as a teacher and spiritual director.
During that period, Okorie said, Akam taught English, French, Latin, Mathematics and Music, earning widespread recognition for both academic excellence and priestly formation.
In 1980, Akam travelled to Belgium for postgraduate studies at the Catholic University of Louvain.
According to Okorie, he became the first priest from the Archdiocese of Onitsha and only the fourth Nigerian priest admitted to study at the institution.
During more than five years abroad, he reportedly earned six academic qualifications, including a doctorate in philosophy.
On returning to Nigeria in 1986, Akam lectured at Bigard Memorial Seminary in Ikot Ekpene before later returning to Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, where he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and tasked with reopening the faculty.
He also served as a visiting lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. His responsibilities within the Catholic Church continued to expand.
He later became Rector of Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, and in recognition of his contributions to priestly formation and Catholic education, he was elevated to the rank of Very Reverend Monsignor in 1995. The following year he was appointed Education Secretary of the Diocese of Awka before subsequently returning to the Archdiocese of Onitsha.
Beyond academia, Okorie said, Akam established the Missionary Servants of the Church, later known as the Missionary Sons of Blessed Iwene Tansi, after receiving the necessary ecclesiastical approval.
Under his leadership, the congregation reportedly grew to include more than 50 members devoted to missionary work and priestly formation.
Okorie also highlighted what he described as Akam's extensive humanitarian work. According to him, the late cleric founded charitable initiatives that built houses for disadvantaged families, sponsored weddings for couples unable to afford marriage ceremonies, settled hospital bills for indigent patients and funded educational opportunities for hundreds of young Nigerians.
He further claimed that more than 1,000 students benefited from scholarship programmes established by Akam over several decades.
Education, however, remained what Okorie described as the defining mission of the late cleric's life.
Before establishing Tansian University, Akam founded several educational institutions, including Our Lady of Waldenstein Educational Centre in Oka, Uga, and Queen of Peace Educational Centre in Enugu.
According to Okorie, both institutions developed reputations for academic excellence and reflected Akam's long-standing commitment to expanding access to quality education.
He said that vision ultimately culminated in the establishment of Tansian University. According to his account, work on the university began around 2000 and involved years of planning, consultations with regulatory authorities and institutional development before the National Universities Commission granted approval for its establishment in 2007.
Okorie further stated that both the provisional and operational licences were issued to the Missionary Servants of the Church, now known as the Missionary Sons of Blessed Iwene Tansi. He added that, in accordance with National Universities Commission guidelines, the university operates through a properly constituted Board of Trustees and Governing Council.
He rejected suggestions that the institution is governed by a Board of Directors, alleging that such descriptions are part of an attempt to distort the university's ownership structure.
"The university has a duly constituted Board of Trustees and Governing Council in line with the requirements of the National Universities Commission," he said.
"For anyone to suggest otherwise is an attempt to rewrite the history and governance structure of the institution." For that reason, Okorie insisted that claims by Fr. Obiorah to have co-founded Tansian University after returning to Nigeria in 2004 are inconsistent with the chronology of events surrounding the university's establishment.
"Res ipsa loquitur,” (The facts speak for themselves) he said.
"The history of Tansian University predates Fr. Obiorah's involvement by several years, and the documentary evidence remains available for anyone willing to verify it."
Na their way. They hijack anything they ever have access to
AnotherAlien: Would you want anyone to wish you death? No one has successfully proven him and Naira Marley guilty of this, so who are you to spew a statement like this on someone recovering from an accident? You didnt even say anything about the bouncer that lost his life. Be considerate sometimes please.
AderonkeOlaniyi: The Thief Of Staff called Femi Gbajiamila broke silence yet couldn't even say anything meaningful that relates to the allegations on his head. It shows the type of people in the government being run by Bola Ahmed Tinubu the drug criminal and fake accountant.

OlaleyeCast: Isaac Fayose, younger brother to former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, says the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, needs to be investigated over allegations of bribery.
In a video posted on X, Fayose questioned how it is possible for an individual to open a parastatal without the knowledge of the government.
He also frowned at the silence of the anti-graft agencies and security agencies over the issue.
Recall that ‘the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC’, Adeniyi Adeyemi, alleged that Gbajabiamila, received N400 million through a proxy and demanded an additional N200 million to secure his appointment.
TheCongo2: After reading the title, I thought an African was about to talk about the heartbreak of DR Congo, Senegal or Côte d'Ivoire after leading their Round of 16 matches and still ending up eliminated. Instead, here we are having a pity party over European teams.
Honestly, when are we Africans going to start consuming and promoting our own football? As a non-Nigerian, I come to Nairaland hoping to see discussions about Nigerian clubs or African football, but it's Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and the rest all day.
We complain that African football isn't growing, yet we're the first to ignore it. That's the real problem.
He said his piece that matters to him, why don't you should just say yours too and stop whimpering
ebuk4real: By now, the news of how a certain prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, in connection with the Tinubu's government chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, created an agency to scam Nigeria is now public.
How this scandal is not even Making front pages yet is also a testament how this government has pocketed most of our media houses are really not dependent and are eating from the hands of those it's meant to checkmate.
As the 2027 elections approaches, pressures will be mounted on the government to call for a public investigation on this matter and should it not happen, there's no gain saying that Nigerians already know who these APC criminals are and will reject them and everyone associated with it.
Cry well well. Una cry no fit stop Nigeria progress
floss: Ask people like helinues, yarimo, burob, seunmsg if my voice was on holidays during buhari government... I have never been a fan of corruption... I campaigned for buhari in 2014 against Jonathan's government because I thought he had a working blueprint but I later found out that even where Nigerians were coming from was better than where they were headed then... That was when I started attacking buhari government, and immediately when tulumbu said "I'll continue from where you stopped" to buhari during his campaign, I knew Nigerians have entered ONE CHANCE...
