PoliticsRe: APC Insists On Ahmed Lawan As Leader, Change Looms In Senate by Kellzcold: 12:52pm On Oct 22, 2015
OnankpaBa:
Yes! but is that the will of the party?

He's a betrayal and he either agreed to the terms and policy of the party or he vacate the seat.
Almost every one in the north east are APC senators, in my opinion a lot of senators are against external influence. No one wants another class to choose their own class prefect. External influence was the trend before when senators were not powerful enough, now most senators are powerful enough to choose who they want, it's a different ball game.
PoliticsRe: APC Insists On Ahmed Lawan As Leader, Change Looms In Senate by Kellzcold: 12:32pm On Oct 22, 2015
OnankpaBa:
guy, Saraki put Ndume there.
You clearly don't know how he selected him.
Saraki called the senators from the north east to vote who they want from their zone to lead the majority since it was zoned to the north east. But Lawan lost by a huge majority to Ndume, so Saraki put him according to the will of the north east zone.
Lawan needs to get more supporters from his fellow senators from his north east zone, before think of being majority for the whole zones.
PoliticsRe: APC Insists On Ahmed Lawan As Leader, Change Looms In Senate by Kellzcold: 12:22pm On Oct 22, 2015
Lawan didn't even win the majority vote in his north east zone, he lost out to Ndume in a free and fair vote. Why should he lead the senate majority when he can't win his zone?? huh
Forcing opinion on senators who were former governors won't take you far.
PoliticsRe: Political Moves To Save Saraki’s Job Crumble - Punch by Kellzcold: 12:13pm On Oct 22, 2015
Goke7:
forget the independent assembly trash, who is deceived here, saraki has a plan, he was put there by a cabal who lost out at the executive and the judiciary, their only hope is the legislature, reason they put saraki there to go against the executive if things don't go their own way and is in favour of national interest which they detest. This is why the executive feel saraki has to go. They are not on the same page in terms of Natonal development. The way saraki emerged lays credence to this, its not just an APC thing. PDP are just there to act as spoilers, they too don't love saraki that much.
It is clear that 81 senators support Saraki. So in democracy, he has the majority of supporters and should be senate president. But if people that didn't get what they want are oppressing him and forcing him to drop the majority and minority leader before the money backers that supported the executive let's him go, then we want an executive controlled senate or even worse a senate controlled by godfathers. That is not democracy, every arm of government should be independent.
This national interest you are talking about, is it someone that is not a senator that wants to choose for the senators who should lead themhuh
PoliticsRe: Political Moves To Save Saraki’s Job Crumble - Punch by Kellzcold: 10:35am On Oct 22, 2015
Zellie:
So Saraki will go scot free if he becomes their bitttch.. I guess this is the change they promised us
I've said before that Saraki taking the senate president by vote of the whole senate was a win for democracy and a win for the independence of the national assembly.
If we don't separate the national assembly from the executive power and political godfathers, they will never be able to scrutinize the government when they are not doing their jobs.
People are just blindly against Saraki for an offense he committed before becoming governor 13yrs ago and don't know what is really going on behind the scenes.

PoliticsRe: Senate suspends plenary till thursday: Acting clerk Nelson Oyewo by Kellzcold: 6:26am On Oct 21, 2015
Ghandi12:
Senate plenary shifted to CCT premises; Expect Senators loyal to corruption at CCT tomorrow. I hope APC leadership are keeping records of Senators that must not come back on APC platform in 2019. And if your Senator is supporting corruption at CCT its time for you to start grooming their replacements ahead of 2019.

I trust that North-West Governor will not forget a single name and he will see to it they all get proper treatment 2019.
It's Elrufai for sure. I know he wants to run for president at some point so he'll do anything to stop northern power players like Saraki and Tambuwal who have a realistic chance of challenging him.
PoliticsRe: Senate suspends plenary till thursday: Acting clerk Nelson Oyewo by Kellzcold: 7:24pm On Oct 20, 2015
If this is true, then a lot more senators are more united with Saraki than I thought. How did he get them to agree

The senator that just talked about the deportation of destitute by fashola from lagos to their various state is sensely, he look like someone who just wanted to be seen asking question.
How can you say that? He is representing people and maybe plenty people from his constituency were deported. They have a right to know why through their senator representing them

They both seem to place much emphasis on having not met. There might be an iota of truth in the story.

I have always maintained that fighting Saraki when he emerged as Senate President was a miscalculation by Tinubu and his men. He'd have made peace with him when he was seeking for their faces and prepare to use him against Buhari and El rufai when the time comes. Whether he denies it from now till eternity, it is clear Tinubu had been played by the duo of Buhari and El rufai who are having the last laugh.

As it stands now, Tinubu only has the ears of Lagos and Osun governors. He has lost the party chairmanship and the national politics that made him to abandon his stronghold of south west is proving difficult everyday. Any overtures at Saraki now, will portray him as desperate. I'll advise he take sometime off and rebuild his alliances. He should also tame his ego and megalomania. There can be only one Awo.

We wish him well...
When people were saying Saraki will be taken care of like other senate presidents that were removed from power, they never understood how much influence Saraki has.
Saraki is a people's man, he can influence so many people to follow him. In this case, powerful senators and ex-governors who still control their various states are supporting Saraki.
It's not as easy as when they removed other senate presidents, who never had the charismatic influence of Saraki and especially as a combined effort from Saraki and Atiku can match Tinubu in money.

EINSTEINPG:
With this your suggestion Nigeria is in serious trouble. Imposition of DSP/SP is an outright subversion of NASS independence and its capability to move the nation forward by neutralizing the so-called unfortunate political godfathers.
But a lot of people here are supporting the Saraki trial knowing that it's an obvious witch-hunt by Tinubu and co.
If Saraki falls, any hope of an independent senate is gone. So people that are supporting Saraki falling should prepare for this if he falls.

How do you remove someone who the opposition intend to use as a point of survival
By negotiating with Pdp:
by either keeping ekweremadu as DSP and putting another SP they want
or by giving them better committees and taking both the Senate president and deputy senate seat for APC.

We'll see how the drama plays out

Lolz virtually half of the senators are billionaires and former Governors and you think you can entice them with money? Is it Andy uba you will give that money abi na Godswill Akpabio,David Mark,Dino Melaye etc? What is $50,000 to these men?
What is $50,000 to ex-governors?? They're joking.
But this is a more effective way to remove Saraki, rather than the court declaration of assets nonsense that won't work but is just to spoil his image.
I said before, the only way to remove Saraki is to get the senators to remove him.
PoliticsRe: Senators In Emergency Meeting Over Saraki- Daily Trust by Kellzcold: 10:57am On Sep 20, 2015
A lot of people don't know the senators angle. The fact is that if they confirm that this Saraki's witch-hunt is done by buhari, they will back out and leave Saraki on his own. But if they confirm it is Tinubu, acting as a cabal from lagos and controlling affairs in the Senate, it tramples on their pride. The senate will fight back because if saraki is targeted easily today then any senator can be dealt with at any time.

We'll see how this story goes, as for me I'm enjoying this Nigerian game of thrones cool

Tinubu still attend the court and was set free, but why saraki did not attend today?
He attended only after trying to extend it like Saraki is trying to do till Monday. Osibanjo was his lawyer then.
The media has painted Saraki's own as corruption and no mention of how Tinibu used the same process.
No need to pretend like this isn't a witch-hunt, we know it is. We know Saraki was corrupt, we know Tinubu was corrupt, they're both roughing out each other.
Tinubu has played his hand and he better hope this sinks Saraki, because if he survives this, no former ACN member or person backed by Tinubu will get a juicy minister spot. It'll be bounced on the spot by the senate, that's where Saraki's power lies.

Me I'm just enjoying the Nigerian game of thrones cool

I can't believe people are still as daft as this?

Don't you know APC never wanted Saraki as Senate President and have been doing everything to bring him down? This is a case of witch-hunting not the above the law nonsense you're talking about. With all d corrupt people in APC na only Saraki dem see do scapegoat and you're here jumping for joy...no wonder Naija is still d way it is when peeps like you have refused to use their brain.
Tinibu has more supporters than Saraki, so it's obvious people will turn a blind eye to an obvious witch-hunt. The problem is this is for false declaration of assets which I'm sure plenty former governors have committed this crime. Saraki can push for the same crime against other Tinibu loyalists if he falls for this.

Maybe you're right. I worked in the national assembly as a corper and when the Senate are united nothing can stop them. They too are the law in this country.

Tinibu has played his hand. If proven guilty, sariki will have to resign from the Senate to keep his money.
But Tinibu has to pray that Sariki goes down for this, if not no former ACN member or person backed by Tinibu will get any juicy minister position. It'll be bounced on sight in the Senate, that's where Sariki's power lies.
