Politics / Re: INEC Robbed APC, Akpabio Of Victory, Buhari Alleges by kemthegirl(f): 8:39am On Mar 05, 2019 |
Eruditor: My friend dont talk nonsense about my state from where ever you are. Akwa Ibom people as well as the other Niger Delta regions dont do Godfatherism. You can read your Nigerian History well. The colonial masters had a indirect rule in the North and South West easy because they are known to follow their leaders sheepishly. We dont do that here and that is why you had the likes of Nana of Itsekiri, Jaja of Opobo, Anthony Enahoro, Obong of Calabar etc fighting the colonial masters to their death. We just dont do political slavery. Speaking about akpabio's senate aspiration, we in Akwa Ibom knew he had commited political suicide the moment he decamped to APC. He like the megalomaniac that he is failed to guage the political temperament of his people. Arrogantly, he assumed his people will sheepishly follow him as if they are goats. He just didnt decamp quietly. He actually said that he will singlehandedly "bury PDP in Akwa Ibom State". That statement nailed his political coffin. The people, due to vexation voted him out vigorously. Before the election, he attempted to bribe Mike Igini the REC but the man told him that he came to count votes not money. Akpabio seing the man's integrity sponsored a state protest claiming that Igini is working with PDP. During that election, Akpabio failed wooefully. there was no rigging. As a matter of fact, that was the freest election in the past 8 years because the Akpabio wasnt in control of State Machinery. Out of 10 Local Governments, he lost in 8, won in Ikot Ekpene LGA. In his own Local Government Essien Udim, he won but narrowly. Akpabio seing his blatant failure(Igini was publishing results live on Local Tv) went to his LGA collation centre and hijacked the election materials. He tampered with the results and gave himself 120000 votes in order to cover up his loss. The reality was that in Essien Udim, the accredited voters were just 14000. How then did Akpabio win? By dragging out this whole thing and refusing to accept defeat, Akpabio is making us forget his positive legacies. He didnt win any election. The narcissist in him wont let him concede defeat. A friend who knows him in person called him to commiserate but in public, he keeps pulling this stupid stunts. 2 Likes |

Family / Protecting Your Children From Paedophiles. by kemthegirl(f): 12:07pm On Sep 10, 2017 |
We often hear the word pedophile and pedophilia in connection with sexual abuse of minors. What then is pedophilia? How do we protect the targets? Pedophilia is a mental disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children. That is to say a person could be a sex offender but not a pedophile because he or she does not feel sexually attracted to prepubescent children exclusively. Studies have also shown that a person cannot be termed a pedophile until he or she is up to the age of sixteen. Again, the African society seems to associate Pedophilia with men. However, women have also been known to be sexual predators. Most people erroneously tag sex offenders as pedophiles without the understanding of this mental disorder. Now we know who a pedophile is and we also know their main targets are children between the ages of 0-13 years of age. HOW DO WE PROTECT OUR CHILDREN? 1. TEACH YOUR CHILDREN SEXUALLY PROTECTIVE BEHAVIORS The first step is to have a simple yet candid conversation with your child(ren) about sex depending on how old they are. Teach your child(ren) the proper name for each body part and explain their functions. Note that most pedophiles use nicknames for a child’s body part so it is your duty to educate your child(ren) on which areas are off limits to strangers. Help your child(ren) identify a good touch and a bad touch. Do not allow anyone call your child “my wife” or “my husband”. 2.BE INVOLVED IN YOUR CHILD’S LIFE Do you know the real trait of that uncle or aunt you trust your child(ren) with? Who are your child(ren)’s friends? What do they do at sleepovers? 95% of the time, the abuser is someone the parents know and trust their child(ren) with so it is imperative that parents strive to build a strong bond with their child(ren) and this in turn helps the children have confidence in their parents. Usually, pedophiles prey on children who seem lonely or whose parents/guardians are not so attentive. Thus as a parent, when you are largely involved with your child, you are setting up barriers and protecting your children from pedophiles. 3. ABUSE OF CHILDREN CAN BE DONE ANYWHERE AND AT ANY TIME Children can be abused anywhere. At home, in school, in church, at the mosque, market, you name it. Recently, i had cause to witness a couple take steps to press charges against two school teachers(female by the way) who violently and systematically abused a three year old girl by inserting a ruler into her vagina. Turns out the parents didn’t pick their child from school early enough so they saw and opportunity and exploited it. The poor child bled for over a week. Are you shocked? You shouldn’t be. Outside the home, the school environment and the teacher is whom your ward should be safe with right? Not necessarily so. Get to know those in your community, those who frequently come in contact with your child(ren) and be wary of those who have unusual interests in your child(ren). Most pedophiles get the attention of children with gifts so be watchful. 4. DO NOT IGNORE YOUR INSTINCTS Nature has blessed human beings with instincts. It serves as a natural defense mechanism so do not ignore it. If you are uncomfortable with a particular individual being around your child(ren), take decisive actions to protect them. Remember it is better to err on the side of caution. If your child says “I don’t like that uncle” or aunt as the case may be, please do not try to force them to have a relationship with that person and get them out of that environment. Remember you cannot tell a pedophile from his or her looks. They are people who could be Lawyers, Doctors, Teachers, Religious Leaders etc. 5. DO NOT BLAME YOUR CHILD If your child(ren) is being abused or has been abused to your knowledge, please do not blame him or her. A pedophile will probably make your child(ren) feel guilty and responsible for his or her sick behavior. They are also known to use threats to keep their preys under their control. Showing love can go a long way to heal an abused child even though he or she may never forget it. Communicate sincerely with your child(ren) and help them to stay vigilant. I recognize that the “hush culture” and the “i leave you to God” syndrome in the African society makes addressing this ugly phenomenon a challenge. However, i am a strong advocate of speaking out. A pedophile is wired that way and is not going to change no matter how you hope for a change. It could be your child tomorrow. Identify the Pedophiles in your community. For all you know, he could be unto his next victim. southerntelescope.com Lalastica Seun 1 Like 1 Share |

Politics / President Buhari Had A Stroke And Is In Recovery by kemthegirl(f): 5:11pm On Aug 15, 2017 |
I am surprised no Nigerian has noticed this but in the shot of President Buhari and the Arch Bishop of Canterbury, it is obvious from his physical anatomy that he had a major stroke and is in recovery. Perhaps the picture explains why he hasnt spoken yet to Nigerians. Like most people recovering from stroke, our president may have developed a speech impediment. NAIRALANDERS, look closely at President Buhari's left hand and the left part of his physical anatomy. Isnt that the looks of a major stroke survivor?

Fashion / Bleaching! But Why? by kemthegirl(f): 7:23pm On Aug 11, 2017 |
I want to talk about Skin Color and why some black people feel the need to bleach their skin. As Nigerians, we do not realize that on some unconscious level, skin bleaching has eaten deep into the fabric of our society. This conversation isn’t talked about constructively in the Nigerian society because we mostly feel we are not affected by it while others who talk about it tend to body shame, bash or praise those who bleach. However, this is a social Phenomenon that merits our attention as black people. In our Nigerian society, we have identifying markers such as religion, tribe, class, education and ideology. We however do not have skin color as an identifier. The later can be found in countries where there is an endemic racial issue often characterized by racial discrimination. Why then am i talking about skin color as a resident of the most populous black nation on earth? THE HYDROQUINON BOOM Recently, with the monstrous growth of the internet coupled with the social media, information has been on the fingertips of almost any one who can read and afford a data subscription. I will give kudos to the western media. They have been able to project their perception of beauty all over the world, from long silky hair, more pointy nose to a pale skin and unfortunately, black people are latching onto this idea of beauty as the standard. Some have conveniently ignored the rather obvious fact that beauty standards are not universal. Each race has its own beauty markers if i may say so. An Indian, Chinese, European, Nigerian, Somalian etc cannot be held to the same standard of beauty. Each individual should define beauty for themselves as we are all unique individuals. A while ago, i found myself among a group of Nigerian women who were fixated on the idea that lighter skinned individuals are more fortunate with love, employment and are considered more beautiful. I watched them do everything to keep their skin lighter and how they sucked up to those they considered “beautiful”. I have even listened to a lady make inquiries about a bleaching cream suitable for children. Insane right? The sad thing is they didn’t even realize the effect their self loathe was having on their daughters. Those poor girls will grow up thinking something is wrong with them because all they heard as babies were their mothers whining about their skin color. Lets us be confident in out blackness. Lets celebrate ourselves. Define beauty for yourself and revel in the freedom it affords you. 2 Likes |

Why do i get the feeling you are subliminally his fan? What the op has done is what the Nigerian authorities should do because these scammers have hurt our reputation too much abroad. Rather than commend him you are insunating that he is a meddlesome interloper? From the little i know about the internet and the modus operandi of swindlers, 'hush bingo' just outed himself as a fraudster and you are here spewing hogwash. Badoo boys fall on you this morning. It is sad the way we think as Nigerians. Of course the video by Tiwa is an attempt at image laundry. As a celebrity, any bad press warrants a measure of image laundry but that does not mean that she is lying about the mental abuse she suffered in her marriage. Any rational person would know that a drug addict is the most unstable person ever. A drug addict and womanizer must steal. She even tried sef by keeping it under wraps all these while. Be clubbing and leaving bills for her to pay. Buy Rolex and Mercedes wey e no fit afford and even borrowed 45million yet pampers and milk e no free buy and people are blaming her. I am not surprised that his frustration is what drove him to do what he did. Must have been having a drug induced psychotic break. I salute u Tiwa Savage for having the courage to stand up for your self. A real man will find you someday. |
