justi4jesu: Lol...There are African restaurants but they are expensive compared to the Bangladesh and pakistani food they often sell here, you should know that once you leave the shores of Nigeria, your native food tends to be expensive wherever you go.

If you go to an african restaurant here and order for semovita,it is okkay because they sell semovita in supermarkets here so its not scarce but if you want a taste of garri, amala and pounded yam then be ready to spend 25dirhams upwards..

Actually i prefer to cook...that's a better way to live...n cheaper...hardly ever consider eating outside...thanks...@ogapaktapakta and u@justi....please at what range will b a 4
man room...in dollars
So that is it. Come with Enough Money.

TravelRe: QATAR And UAE General Visa Enquiries by ken1982: 9:12am On Oct 10, 2013
justi4jesu: Yes they are available somewhere in deira frij murar, but quite expensive so you can come with yours especially palm oil because most African restaurants here use groundnut oil to cook because of how expensive palm oil is sold here, so you can come few cooking ingredients but make sure you hide the palm oil when passing immigration in Nigeria because they must collect it from you if they get to see it or you can find them something and they will allow you to go in with it.
ok

ogakpatakpata: Yes, they do have cooking stove, rice, beans and other Nigeria delicacies are also available in different African shops but expensive, l will advise when coming you should come with some food items, but, it shouldn't be too much to avoid paying excess luggage, others might add to what l have already written. Enjoy your day!!

ogakpatakpata: Good question, UAE is not the problem but the managers of the economy who are mostly Indians; l was in a discussion with my boss recently, he is the owner of my company and also from Western Europe, we talked at length and he also told me the reason why they pay so low to unskilled migrants, he said they pay lots of taxes/fines and charges to the government and as a result sometimes they cannot break even, l agreed with him to an extent because l am in the know how of how things run in my office, just last month DEWA sent a water & light bill to my office, l received it and l was shocked that they billed our junior staff accommodation for 15,000dhs, my boss then told me to go and speak to the entire junior staff in the accommodation on proper management of the AC and water in the facility, while we try to pay them to avoid a fine, just yesterday during our senior staff meetings the HR said they have brought another bill for this month and it is 30,000dhs, and we all resolved during the meeting to investigate and protest to the authorities, after the meeting, my boss called me to his office and told me, can you see what we go through monthly to remain in business.

My advise/suggestion to anybody who intends to work in the UAE is not to rely on your job alone, make sure you have or run a business from here to Nigeria to boost your income, if you are smart enough, you can do good/clean business from here to your home country and make good returns.

Also since i want to do nebosh i believe i am no longer in d category of unskilled labor...am i not

TravelRe: QATAR And UAE General Visa Enquiries by ken1982: 6:58am On Oct 08, 2013
ogakpatakpata: Most of the jobs here are 8hrs; but, l will also add that some companies are modern day slave centres due to the sharp labour practises they engaged in which the ministry of labour may not be aware of except you complain to them directly, let me explain, your offer letter might read 8hrs per day, food, accommodation and transportation, but, when you resume proper, you might find yourself working 12hrs straight and the extra 4hrs is not counted for you as overtime.

l don't want to deceive or give you a false hope, l have personally met several nationalities (Nigeria) inclusive in this severe modern day slavery, sometimes the stories l hear makes me want to shed tears, the reason for this sharp practices is partly due to the fact that most companies are owned or managed by INDIANS/PAKISTANIS,just recently, some Nigerians working in a mall not too far from where my office is located shared a bitter experience with me, they work as security guard, and their offer letter states 8hrs but they work 12hrs daily, no off days and salary was 1,200dhs per month, they protested and went to ministry of labour, the company agreed to adjust their salary to 1,800 but it has not been done and they have also said that after their contracts they no longer want Nigerians.

Even the so called Emrill group ( A VERY BIG RECRUITING CONGLOMERATE & INTEGRATED FACILITIES MANAGEMENT GROUP ) that has hired lots of people in the field of housekeeping, security, customer care, safety workers etc is not exempted from this unfair labour practices, you will be shock to hear the kind of peanut they pay to new employees. l have personally interviewed some few cleaners/house keeping staff working with Dubai metro, can you believe they pay them as small as 1000dhs per month and this guys clean the metro for 12hrs and make sure the metro shines like gold and yet poor salary.

Finally, you cannot work as a training consultant without the necessary UAE CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES,and if your company/firm is not owned, managed, controlled by Europeans/Americans or Local Emiratis, don't expect any magic, they wont treat you well........goodluck.
Thnks alot @ogapaktapakta...good insight...
TravelRe: QATAR And UAE General Visa Enquiries by ken1982: 10:44pm On Oct 07, 2013
justi4jesu: Safety jobs work schedules depends solely on the company that employs you,, the work schedules cannot be generalized. But most jobs here are 8hours as the case may be but some companies also make their staffs work for 12hours a day, so don't think the slavery ends back there in nigeria. Everything depends on the kind of job you settle down for! You can be whatever you want to be after your nebosh course but it takes the favour of GOD and open doors for you excel in whatever you wish to become. There are jobs for every field but its not that easy to get because of their required so called Gulf experience. Companies payscale differs. There is no fixed salary range for any companies and an important thing is that most companies give more or higher salary based on your experience.
@justi...thank you for this...8 hours is ok....thx alot
