justi4jesu: Lol...There are African restaurants but they are expensive compared to the Bangladesh and pakistani food they often sell here, you should know that once you leave the shores of Nigeria, your native food tends to be expensive wherever you go. |
@ogapaktapakta...that's funny o...living with so many people...i wonder how one protects himself from theft and how one can read in peace...hope there r libraries...we pray fir better conditions for us all... |
Me am not carrying anything o...before dubai immigration say i b terrorist with biochemical weapon....but seriously...there should be some affordable way of feeding in dubai...like a local meal that is africanish .... ![]() |
justi4jesu: Yes they are available somewhere in deira frij murar, but quite expensive so you can come with yours especially palm oil because most African restaurants here use groundnut oil to cook because of how expensive palm oil is sold here, so you can come few cooking ingredients but make sure you hide the palm oil when passing immigration in Nigeria because they must collect it from you if they get to see it or you can find them something and they will allow you to go in with it.ok ok...thx...what about internet and also can u describe d shared rooms and how they are...like is it just a large or small room with bunks or does it have other probable benefits...if we were to b just 4 in a room how much would dt be |
ogakpatakpata: Yes, they do have cooking stove, rice, beans and other Nigeria delicacies are also available in different African shops but expensive, l will advise when coming you should come with some food items, but, it shouldn't be too much to avoid paying excess luggage, others might add to what l have already written. Enjoy your day!! |
Please house...quick questions...do the shared rooms have cooking stove and are things like rice and beans available to buy and are they affordable |
ogakpatakpata: @ken1982.........How are you ken; l hope you are doing fine?. |

Thanks @paktapakta...and what's@justi ...thanks so much... |
ogakpatakpata: Good question, UAE is not the problem but the managers of the economy who are mostly Indians; l was in a discussion with my boss recently, he is the owner of my company and also from Western Europe, we talked at length and he also told me the reason why they pay so low to unskilled migrants, he said they pay lots of taxes/fines and charges to the government and as a result sometimes they cannot break even, l agreed with him to an extent because l am in the know how of how things run in my office, just last month DEWA sent a water & light bill to my office, l received it and l was shocked that they billed our junior staff accommodation for 15,000dhs, my boss then told me to go and speak to the entire junior staff in the accommodation on proper management of the AC and water in the facility, while we try to pay them to avoid a fine, just yesterday during our senior staff meetings the HR said they have brought another bill for this month and it is 30,000dhs, and we all resolved during the meeting to investigate and protest to the authorities, after the meeting, my boss called me to his office and told me, can you see what we go through monthly to remain in business. |
@ogapaktapakta thanks for the business incentive...my idea is baby and children wears but how can i get affordable and quality wears and what's the protocol or cost of sending the merchandise down to Nigeria |
Nairaland on android app...cool |
Then i wonder what makes dubai a place to come to where things r not so different from nigeria...higher pay...but higher bills...am yet to understand...but as time goes we shall see ![]() |
ogakpatakpata: Most of the jobs here are 8hrs; but, l will also add that some companies are modern day slave centres due to the sharp labour practises they engaged in which the ministry of labour may not be aware of except you complain to them directly, let me explain, your offer letter might read 8hrs per day, food, accommodation and transportation, but, when you resume proper, you might find yourself working 12hrs straight and the extra 4hrs is not counted for you as overtime.Thnks alot @ogapaktapakta...good insight... |
justi4jesu: Safety jobs work schedules depends solely on the company that employs you,, the work schedules cannot be generalized. But most jobs here are 8hours as the case may be but some companies also make their staffs work for 12hours a day, so don't think the slavery ends back there in nigeria. Everything depends on the kind of job you settle down for! You can be whatever you want to be after your nebosh course but it takes the favour of GOD and open doors for you excel in whatever you wish to become. There are jobs for every field but its not that easy to get because of their required so called Gulf experience. Companies payscale differs. There is no fixed salary range for any companies and an important thing is that most companies give more or higher salary based on your experience.@justi...thank you for this...8 hours is ok....thx alot |
ken1982: Hello forumites....please i would like to ask...how are safety jobs work schedules like...is it like 7 am to 7 pm like the slave work here in some nija industries or is it better...also after nebosh trainin what if i want to b a trainin consultant...are there jobs n is d pay nice...presently i hav osha certificate in occupational health n safety...around what payscale should i look towards |
