Call for your viable sucker free of all pest from kenfarm and you will be smiling to the bank at the end of this planting season. Whether you will be satisfy or dissatisfy on your harvesting day depends on your choice of suckers.....this follow the saying that ..... "what you plant is what you harvest" Make no mistake of your choice of sucker....improved variety is expensive, more viable and pest resistant unlike local specie that are as cheap as 40naira with low yield, pest infested, fruit after 2yrs and nonviable. Make a wise choice by calling kenfarm for your genetically engineered suckers suitable for the tropical region. kenfarm customer care on WhatsApp :08038623884 |

Insect Repellant plants and Methods of controlling pest in Farmland Often times, farmers face huge problem as a result of pest invasion. Pests are dangerous; they are great threats to the success of a farming business. Chemical pesticides have been the usual way to control pests on farms; however, its effect on human health has waged a huge campaign against its use. Most of the pesticides are poisonous in nature, this is what exactly eradicate pest. But, at times, these pesticides do have residual effects on human as a result of the contamination of the crops during its application. There are some measures that can be implemented to control pests on farm, without the use of chemicals; some are: • Proper land preparation: If you adopt a conventional tillage system, where the soil is heavily pulverized to expose pests and their habitat to desiccation, you will experience a pest free situation on your farm. • Another measure is timely cultivation: This involves studying the reproductive cycle of the prevailing pest, such that, planting is done when the pests are less active. Also, pests are more active during the dry season, thus, planting during the rainy season is another way to boycott pest. However, taking preventive measure is better than controlling. As you plant your crop, there are some plants you can as well plant simultaneously; these plants are called companion and pest repellant plants. They help to reduce pest population and also serve some beneficial purposes like proper utilization of space and enhance crop safety through the provision of habitat for beneficial creatures, the companion plants. These plants can be harvested and consumed too. If you are looking for plants that repel flies; or plants that repel aphids; or plants that repel bugs; you can plant any of the following plants alongside your crops and get them protected. Instead of spending more on chemical pesticides, that is detrimental and expensive, you can just invest in edible pest repellant plant. These plants are: If you plant cabbage and cucumber, radish will repel cabbage maggot and cucumber beetles; it will enhance the quality and quantity of your crop. You can as well consume the radish because it is an edible root vegetable. Garlic is a known spice but can as well be grown as a pest repellant plant. Garlic repels root maggot, bean beetle, cabbage looper and even rabbit. Garlic is a very useful plant. Lettuce is a good companion and pest repellant plant for carrot. It repels carrot flies. Both can be harvested as they are edible vegetables. This ornamental plant can be used as a pest repellant; it repels insect and rabbits. This is another spice plant that can be used as a pest repellant. It repels rabbits and cabbage looper. This plant is a very effective pest repellant plant, it repels many pests. This plant is another effective pest repellant; it repels aphids, cabbage looper, flea beetles, squash bugs, and white flies. These pests are major threats to crop production. This flower repels cabbage looper, carrot fly, slug, snail and the Mexican bean beetle. This plant is a broad spectrum pest repellant plant; it repels fleas, moths, ants, beetle, rodents, aphids, squash bugs, and cabbage looper. This plant is a native of tropical America, this plant repels cutworms. It is important we start addressing the issue of pest. Prevention they say is better than cure. Hence, oder for your viable sucker free of all pest from kenfarm and you will be smiling to the bank at the end of this planting season |

There are two types of suckers in Nigeria – the local variety and the improved variety sucker. The local variety sucker takes almost two years to mature from planting to harvest while the improved variety takes about 8-10 months. The local variety generally has lower yields and more disease-prone, while the improved variety has higher yields in terms of fingers per bunch, size of the fingers and the sweetness of the fruits. The improved variety brings faster returns on investment than the local variety sucker. The improved variety comes in different grades that indicate the level of improvement. Always go for the latest improved variety sucker like the one sold by kenfarm. If you are a starter, go for the improved variety sucker. However, note that the improved variety sucker is costlier than the local variety sucker. So when next you call kenfarm to place Oder for our plantain sucker do not be shock to be informed of our price. Plantation farmers and upcoming farmer who have zero tolerance for substandard products usually stop by to purchase our sucker with confidence that maximum yield is guaranteed. Suckers are planted immediately after field preparation. Plant holes are prepared with a minimum size of about 30 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm. Care should be taken to separate the topsoil from bottom soil. The sucker is placed in the hole and its corm is covered, first with the topsoil and then with the bottom soil. In the plant hole, the side of the sucker corm which was formerly continue reading on www.kenfarm.com.ng |
