Why don't you wait till 21st or 22nd to see whether this immigration ban will be implemented.
If it is then call nvc and explain the situation and their answer will guide you on the next step.

Or better still if you have an immigration lawyer handling your application. He will be of help and know what to do.

This happened to me earlier this week. If you say there is no message check the status beside you and your petitioners name and check if the status as changed from submitted to accepted.
If this is the case in some days time you should get an email which will state status complete.

Or go to your msg icon click on it if it indicates you have a msg. Sometimes it takes forever for the msg to come up. So you might have to refresh severally before you see the msg.

I just spoke with a US lawyer and he says the ban can only legally affect those who are about to apply. Given the reason for the ban (document control), it will be both immoral and unjustified to ban those that are already "documentarily qualified" since they have scaled the controls. Banning on those grounds alone can be challenged in court because applicants are being retroactively punished. Will they then be required to go submit their qualifying documents all over again? Since the consular officer has "no discretion" to issue or deny a family immigration visa, he must state the reason for denial if any, by the hard fact such as "visa ban". And as the lawyer says, this can be challenged.
Be hopeful if you have scaled the "documentarily qualified " stage. Legal help can be an option.

This makes a lot of sense.
I wish one can have a direct answer on this issue from nvc. But it's so difficult to speak to them. Almost mission impossible.

It took Chad 7 months to be removed from the ban. Probably one year for Nigeria if Buhari does not go mad again and start forming superstar .


Hmm that's the thing basically. How long are we looking at before we are cleared
Also for those that have started the process and received their letter there is a time frame for you to process the immigration visa( so let's pray all in all it favours us)
The truth is that this news is quite unsettling
Will nvc still keep in touch with us about our stage update in our processing
For those that have their interview later on in the month after the ban is implemented what will be their fate
And the status of the ban was clearly stated for the pending applicants. So that's clarity in itself.
Contacting nvc is quite difficult. If not one will have put a call through to them tomorrow to know our stance. Especially for those that have started the process
Or better still contact your immigration lawyer for better clarity.
There is nothing much we can do but hope and pray the Congress overrides this ban

Most importantly for those that are oppurtuned to go to the embassy before the ban. I hope this won't give room for denying people the immigration visa.

Is there an exemption?

Mine is the ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE and clearly states it as "REGISTRATION OF BIRTH", yet the NVC accepted it without any uproar..
Please, I hope such won't Truncate my INTERVIEW at the Embassy..
I need Clarification....

Your good to go. But to just be on the safe side prior to your interview get the attestation of birth from NPC and take it alongside your birth certificate for your interview

Please hope they do not reject ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE, especially the one that shows Registration of Birth..?

Just make sure the headline states that it is from NPC. Some certificates were not issued by NPC.
But if it's from NPC your good to go. If not get an attestation of birth from NPC.
I want to believe my case is an error from whoever reviewed my documents from NVC.

A whole lot of people use attestation of birth and they hardly encounter issues.

I am still waiting for their response though.

I think what happened is the birth cert ur petioner used when he was filing for u is different from the npc birth cert,that was why it was rejected.u need to submit the birth cert ur petitioner used


I submitted the one the petitioner used first but it was rejected and they stated I should get the one from the correct issuing authority. That is understandable because it dint carry the NPC logo. But just a local government.
Due to this fact I want to get the attestation from the correct issuing authority still rejected with the same reason of get from a correct issuing authority.
Obviously they were not thorough enough from their own end.
It's just so annoying.
so I have sent them a mail to look into this matter.
I also reuploaded the attestation this time around alongside my affidavit of age declearation. Maybe this will carry more weight.

Someone also arranged a birth certificate for me which the year of issue was backdated.
But am not fully convinced on the authenticity of this. Since they said they dont issue birth certificate to someone over 18.
Dint upload it so that little thing won't cost me.
But if they still refuse my reupload omo na to use the newly acquired birth certificate oh.

You may rescan it and make it clearer and resend it to them not more than 150dpi and 2mb in size

That was exactly what I did. I personally scanned it with my home scanner just the way I scanned the rest. It's very clear i even converted it to pdf format.

Kindly go the National Population Commission at the state you are and get the Birth Certificate from them. it cost btw 3.5k - 8k. a same day thing . get and scan it to them. Good luck

Good day. Pls am just joining this forum. I got my letter to proceed with my immigration visa am under f2b category. I have filled the ds260 form alongside my baby and submitted all documents and am waiting for a case complete message.

The issue here is that I got married last year. The marriage hasn't been great. In other words not seeing myself in this long term.
I never informed USCIS of my marital status.
Didn't change my name. Still have my maiden name on all documents
No traces that I have been married except the court certificate.
Not presently planning to file for my partner in the long run.
I just want to know if they investigate your marital status at the long run.
And when submitting my ds260 I stated single
I also went to the registry to inquire from staffs If they come to verify if your married and they stated they rarely do.
