SBG04: I'll just ignore all post relating to that person. He jumps from page to page attacking me and playing "always right". Everyone has the freedom to post at his\her discretion. How can someone quote me and call me "generally insincere"? From where? Because I chipped in on what a newbie said? Utter rubbish. . Guy, it does not take long to recognize sunshine, He understands TA and decided to encourage people to use it more in trading especially if you are a short term trader, BullBearMkt has organised webinar on using TA, i suggest you look for it listen to it, you might learn one or two things. Personally, i know if NSE Is gonna part of the best Capital Markets in the nearest future, then its TA. We should be careful about what we post cos of newbies amongst us. Shout out to @fxuser e.t.c that are also pushing TA. TA is the future, dont fight it, get in line and learn it. |

austinkenneth: If you withdraw ur bids or bid at lower prices, they will forced to leave at lower prices and we'll mop up. Trust me, they'll all come back in abt a year's time. , i hear you, meanwhile, the bid offer ratio of most banks are balanced except FBNH and Access Bank Plc, @fxuser and @bullbearmkt any tuts on that please? are going to get a delayed bull run? k |

austinkenneth: Gbam! Until the foreign investors return, The market will trade sideways. The sad thing is that they are still exiting.....GTB is a recent evidence.
We are providing liquidity for them to exit. If we withdraw our bids, all banks will come down to their sweet spots, and...... Will removing your bids stop from from leaving? who will hurt more ? you or them, PFI are always on the move, capitalist to the bone, our frail economy needs them k |

maishai: House, how low can guiness go....this is another great buy looming on my medium horizon...the company is working hard to get out of their wahal . That's a difficult question oh, Brewery sector has been facing serious challenges for a while now. 1.Consumers not drinking as much again, the premium brands are too expensive, NB was lucky to acquire value brands like Goldberg and Becks ones to matain sales. Guiness no get value brands like that. 2. They almost got it right my going into liquor distribution cause again drinking beer was running out to f fashion. Youngsters drink black label, JD Hennessy more now, fx issues has made does one too expensive to drink like water , since we don't produce it in the country. 3, cost of distribution is a major concern to breweries and bottling companies in general. 4. Guiness are changing MD like Real Madrid, none was able to fix it. So, just dey watch that sector from a far fundamentally. Maybe technically. @fxuser and @Bullbearmkt can commen K |

jumboo: There are components that should be added to PAT and there are components that should be taken to OCI. All the banks do this and it's subsumed somewhere in the notes or presented as a separate line item. Like Access bank's 2016 audited statement which you mentioned reporting separately, they made a FX loss and its part of PAT (Check note 12). Check same note 12 on Diamond bank: " Net trading income on foreign exchange and financial assets held for trading includes the gains and losses arising both on the purchase and sale of trading instruments and from changes in fair value. "
There may be manipulations in the underlying records but the treatment is right per accounting standards thank you jare |

pluto09: Yes, profit is very important in our clime and that is why you see all the manipulations with bank results. Let me ask you this question; why do you think banks like fcmb, gtb and fbn add their fx gain to their profits while banks like access, uba, diamond and fidelity reported their fx gain separately? Simple, its preference. as long as its not illegal, every body wants a good outing. k |

Am sure by tomorow now people will be heading bank to FBNH to take position, the last hope of dividend for now, no matter how small it will be. BullBearMkt: ...this will be a nice discussion. As for TA, I want to study the price & volume of that stock prior to making such impressive move & we can then look forward to similarly response to future stocks (past data is not indicative of future occurrence sometimes, but are good for correlation especially when you have almost similar fundamentals to back it up). I will be interested in this intellectual study if we have participants (Fundamentals & Technicals)... Yes, i love the idea, am in, i think we should get a list and educe them to a few of about 5 stock to monitor. flour mill uacn prop, uacn, ccnn, cadbury, dangote flour. i would also add FO, and OandO plc, please lets grow the list. |

BullBearMkt: THE TREND IS YOUR FRIEND...
Price is always noisy with a lot of fluctuations up and down. This many times make it extremely difficult to determine when to enter/exit a trade with profit. Just like a drunkard going from point A to point B, price will first stagger around to reach points A', A''... before it finally get to its destination at B, Chart 1. This of course is to create emotions (fear/greed) for traders/investors to ensure he/she exits the trade with a loss or at most minimal profit.
A great tool to smoothing out price fluctuations is the MOVING AVERAGE. A moving average of price is based on the close of each bar interval. For example, a daily 20-Day-Moving-Average (20DMA) is the close of the last 20 day bars. It is great on historical data and provides price trending.
The phrase, "...the trend is your friend" was coined to keep traders aligned with the general direction of the stock's price instead of jumping around the price's whipsaw. If the overall price trend is up, traders will want to BUY and if the trend is down, it is SELLING time.
LIMITATION -Moving Averages on price are lagging. This means moving average reacts to price movement, or price turns before MA makes its turn...
The longer the moving average, the greater the lag but the benefit is you will get a smoother trend. Hence, a 50DMA provides more lag time than a 20DMA, although 50DMA will give a smoother trending than 20DMA.
Chart 2, is UBA historical daily chart with 20DMA (blue line) and 50DMA (magenta line). Study the price fluctuations and how 20 and 50 DMAs provide us with the price trend
USES OF MOVING AVERAGE -Provides price trending -BUY or SELL signal: When a short (or fast) moving average is above the long (or slow), it is considered time to buy. But if the fast MA is below the slow MA, it is time to sell -Provide value pricing: When price pullback to the moving averages (when rising), it is considered a good zone to enter (or re-enter) the trade
