iLegend: Why You Need To Accept Corrections And Make Money From It.
In my secondary school days, I was among the top 4 in my class. I was always quiet and calm.
Being among the smart kids, you're bound to be hated by default and the only way out of it is to be humble and calm.
In my SS1 days, a new guy came to our school and made all the intelligent students in my class look like shìt.
He's new and so intelligent that people were scared to speak in front of him, because he'll correct your mistakes immediately without minding who's around.
His selling point was English language; while our selling points were Physics, Chemistry, Maths Further Maths and other science subjects.
English students have this natural ego you can't take away from them. It's not a bad thing, but when over-used will cause more harms than good.
To cut a long story short. There was a day (after school) we were watching football and a guy asked the 3 of us (during half time) to spell the word 'massacre'. I have heard of it and I know the meaning, but I haven't seen the spelling. I spelt it as 'massaca', the other guy spelt it as 'masaka', but this my new English guy spelt it as 'massacre.'
Hmm! In my head, I was like; when has 'cre' become 'ca' or 'ka'?
To my surprise, he was right and we were wrong. I hated the fact that he was always ahead of us in English language.
When the match ended, I made a statement with the word 'death', and he immediately corrected me in front of everyone by saying, "it's not pronounced as /det/, but /deθ/ I went home feeling humiliated and insignificant.
From that day, I carried the BIGGEST Oxford Dictionary to school. I learned all the vowel sounds, diphthongs and everything learnable in linguistics.
This will surprise you; I transcribed EVERY single word in the Oxford dictionary. Now I write in phonetics and most people can't read my note. Thanks to the English guy.
How his correction helped me:
1. After graduation I gained admission into Oxford Brookes University, UK, while HE the English guru was in a Polytechnic in Port Harcourt. I came back and did my NYSC, but he was still in school. He made me study smarter, because I perceived him to be a threat and my only competition in life. I just wanted to be better than him at that time. Now? I don't really care.
2 When I interact with my foreign friends they never asked me to repeat myself, but my other Nigerian friends were always asked to repeat what they've just said. Thanks to the 'death' correction.
3 Now, this is the new invention. I have developed a memory improvement and pronunciation system to help my fellow Nigerians and others.
These are the things you'll achieve at the end of the threads I'm about to create.
1. How to memorize any number in 10-20 seconds, especial phone numbers, account, MasterCard, pin, and so on, and remember them for the rest of your life.
2. How to get access into your permanent memory and store files at will.
3. How to memorize a list of items or any list up to 100 or more and ALWAYS remember them any day and any time.
4. Students preparing for exams will be amazed. You'll be ready for any exams or aptitude test. I promise you. You don't need to cram anything. All you need is MemPro.
5. How to pronounce and transcribe any word correctly. Yes, I know say Nigerians hate dis kind tin. They'll all say, "who English epp? Don't mind them. Learn this and add it to your arsenal of weapons. One day you may travel out of this country, then you'll understand what iLegend has been trying to teach y'all.
To avoid what my friend did when we went to a shopping mall to buy something.
After intro...
White man: Which do you want? My Naija Friend: Oga dis one. White man: Ok MNF: Cut it for me (the 'cut' sounded like 'caught'). White man: What? MNF: Dis Oyibo self no get ear at all. Me: Sir, cut it (the cut /kʌt/ sounded the way it's supposed to sound).
When we left the mall.
MNF: You never even stay reach one month you don dey phoney. Me: You won't understand what I have been through. When I sucked I was corrected for sucking and now I know the code somebody is still trying to judge me. Hmm! Life na wa o!
Lesson:
So, there's nothing you'll do in this life that people won't judge or at least talk. Do whatever you wish to do with your life and let them talk whatever they want to talk with their lives. PEROID!
If you truly want to improve your MEMory and PROnunciation, then this is the right place.
Get ready for my MemPro threads. There'll be a lot to be learned. Though, the threads won't be for every one, but there's no harm in trying. And for the money aspect; please be patient.
Disclaimer: I will only teach two things, which are: techniques to improve your memory and remember anything you wish to remember, and how to pronounce any word properly. I'm not an English teacher, I'm only a pronunciation addict and a memorizer or internalizer.
GET READY YOUR LIFE IS ABOUT TO CHANGE FOR GOOD.
Look for troubles, but make sure they're nonviolent.
Keep safe

#Stagger, you did a very good job there...Weldon bro.
I have to add this, the banks will sell to manufacturing companies and oil Marketers at a margin of 5 - 10 naira increase from the amount they bought from CBN. But for those seeking to import tooth picks and the rest will have to buy at a wider margin.... That is the reason(s) why they request a letter from you stating what you intend to purchase or import.... Hope this helps |

And Chidinma Ubani a concerned brother; he finally met our late Joy's family pls read his encounter with them:
IT'S SAD... THIS BROUGHT TEARS TO ME THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO SHARE.
I met Joy's Dad, uncle and villagers today at FMC mortuary umuahia, when they came to claim the remains of their daughter, tears filled my eyes , it's very obvious that this family feeds from hand to mouth. As humans who have conscience, I and my big brother that went with me gave them the little assistance that we could. Joy's parents are from Enugu state but based in Mina Niger State, the Dad is a welder and the mum owns a small restaurant and that's all they do to feed and clothe their selves. Having seen their conditions, so I felt instead of sharing her pictures for prayers, instead sharing her pictures for likes, why not share this with your friends and appeal to them to assist the poor girls family with anything they have. This will go a very long way in helping the family instead of making news with the family's misfortunes.
I didn't want to ask the man for his account number in other not to give him hope when I'm not sure of what the outcome of my request might be, I asked his son , joy's brother Kelvin Rodrick who's in Mina and also on facebook ,sitting for his Neco exams to please help me source for his dad's account number which he also did. According to the Dad, they will be coming back to Fmc umuahia on Wednesday if all they came for today works out fine , to carry the girl's body and bury it immediately they get home.
For the account number First Bank 3015842968 Thompson Uzomco.
For enquiries, you can call 07039651305 Joy's Dad 09031787979 Joy's brother Kelvin Rodrick.
Thanks for reading as no amount is too small. |
