PROVERBZ:The main reason we Kenyans & South Africans are on Nairaland is basically because Seun doesnt have a problem with foreigners being on his own website. Unless you co-own it then that would be absolutely another case, furthermore there are more Nigerians who dont have an issue over our existence in Nairaland. Nigerians outside Nigeria, mainly in Kenya paint a grim picture of the situation back home. I know a few who have live here in Kenya illegally doing small time hustle who swear that they better stay in a Kenyan jail than be free in Naija. |
naijagotjokes:Hahaha.... you are one realistic guy. You dont take hostages at all!!!! ![]() |

highheybee:Hahahaha..... OK! Most livable cities in Africa-2016 1. Cape Town, South Africa. ... 2. Accra, Ghana. ... 3. Nairobi, Kenya. ... 4. Johannesburg, South Africa. ... 5. Gaborone, Botswana. ... 6. Tunis, Tunisia. ... 7. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. ... 8. Windhoek, Namibia. |
I now feel the Nigerian guys are now turning this informative post into the joke section material.... ![]() What next, they will be claiming how Abuja is better than Madrid or how Sicily pales in comparison to Lagos. We might also hear that Enugu is far better than Abu dhabi or that Dubais Burj Khalifa was just built a few years ago. Nigerians will kill me with their misplaced "pride"/ignorance/idiocracy. |
Oxtonguy:The delusional rate at which Nigerians are getting to is now worrying. Hehehehe..... Next you will be comparing Agege or Ajengule slums to cape Town or Port Elizabeth. Jeez!!! Nigerians are just simply loonies. |
highheybee:Dint know the quality of life of a countries citizen is measured by the tallest buildings in a persons country, or how long ago they built their skyscrapers. Jordan is one rich country, their currency much possibly stronger than the dollar but lack the population, the skyscrapers nor the major Lagos roads. So in essence can we say that Amamam, Jordan is less developed than LAgos or Nigeria. ![]() Sometimes Nigerians got jokes. |

LightYagami:Unicef has clearly sated that over 70% of Nigerians in 2015 period are living below the poverty line. The trend is set to continue in 2016 with a steady increase in Nigerians falling into thye poverty trap. |
Oxtonguy:Poverty has risen in Nigeria, with almost 100 million people living on less than a $1 (£0.63) a day, despite economic growth, statistics have shown. The National Bureau of Statistics said 60.9% of Nigerians in 2010 were living in "absolute poverty" - this figure had risen from 54.7% in 2004. The bureau predicted this rising trend was likely to continue. Nigeria is Africa's biggest oil producer but the sector has been tainted by accusations of corruption . According to the report, absolute poverty is measured by the number of people who can afford only the bare essentials of shelter, food and clothing. https://www.ruralpovertyportal.org/web/rural-poverty-portal/country/home/.../nigeria Some 70 per cent of Nigerians live on less than US$1.25 a day. Poverty is especially severe in rural areas, where up to 80 per cent of the population lives below the poverty line, and social services and infrastructure are limited. The country's poor rural women and men depend on agriculture for food and income. https://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/nigeria_statistics.html Despite Nigeria's plentiful agricultural resources and oil wealth, poverty is widespread in the country and has increased since the late 1990s. Some 70 per cent of Nigerians live on less than US$1.25 a day. |
highheybee:NATURAL RESOURCES EARNING NIGERIA- $160B in 2016 oil revenue KENYA- $2B in Tourism revenue Nigeria earned 160B dollars in revenue from its major natural resources in contrast to Kenyas 2B dollars in its natural resource. What i amazes me is where does all that money go to? Its just perplexing to say the least that Kenya outshines Nigeria with only 2% of equivalent of Nigerias 160B revenue. |
Kenya passenger service vehicles- Matatu
|
arinzeejikonye:Shoprite- How can a foreign retailer importing almost all essential commodities from outside Nigeria including basic food stuffs like bananas, eggs and even tissue papers be something to brag about. Nigerias billionaire Dagonte is in the process of opening a milk value addition plant to cater for the Nigerian market demands here in Kenya. This venture benefits the Kenyan dairy industry and farmers directly since the Kenyan dairy sector is driven by small scale farmers in Kenya. Its a shame Nigeria is over dependent on the oil sector with prices that fluctuate. |
forgiveness:Is there any multi-national company in Nigeria beyond west Africa? Safaricom M-PESA- Its has grown beyond borders & is based more than 100 countries NAKUMATT- It has become a regional shopping hub based in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania & Rwanda. KCB Bank-It has branches in South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda & Kenya. Kenya Airways- It is an international carrier flying to Europe, Asia, Africa & middle eastern countries. KTDA- Kenya Tea Development Authority is a multi national body dealing in the marketing of Kenyan tea which is considered the best quality in the world. UCHUMI SUPERMARKET- Is a multi national shopping establishment in all major east African countries. |
highheybee:Its not about skyscrapers buddy, its all about social well being of the Kenyan citizen. To Nigerians what is basic needs for a Kenyan are only a luxury for Nigerians. How can 24/7 electricity be a luxury to all Nigerians while in Kenya it costs only $150 dollars to get connected to the national grid. How comes Nigerians suffer fuel shortages & get the commodity more expensive while Kenya has never had any shortage at a lesser price How comes Nigeria has an inefficient port serving 180m populace but Kenya has the second biggest port in Africa serving less than 80m How comes Nigeria doesn't offer subsidized medicare while Kenya gives free maternal and child services free of charge How comes Nigeria cant offer free education to its children while Kenya has free primary education How comes Nigeria cant give education new learning technologies while Kenya is giving its children free laptops in schools How comes Nigeria Nigerian universities don't support students while Kenya government gives free loans to university students More can be said but its impossible to find anything to copy Nigeria on!!! |
Nigerians give us one aspect we can copy from you please? |
highheybee:Hahahaha.... What is there to copy in Nigeria? To be at par in what terms. Nigeria is the one that is playing catch up and i assume it impossible to match up either to Kenya. Nigeria sincerely hasnt anything to offer Kenya except only on how not to be a an example to other countries on how to waste 520B US dollars |
highheybee:Nigeria GDP- 521B Kenya GDP- 55B Are you for real? You are 10 times richer than Kenya yet you are lagging behind in all sectors. I wonder where Kenya would have been with that amount in their economical and infrastructural capacity building. Currently Kenya is giving South Africa a run for its money in all departments without the natural resources like gold and diamonds feeding its GDP. Kenya currently boasts of the second biggest port outside S. Africa. Its building a second bigger port in Lamu Kenya. Another bigger inland port that will be fed by the new standard gauge railway system is in the process of being actualized in Naivasha. |
highheybee:You have have always not been the brightest candle in this forum in terms of your debating skills.... it isn't a surprise you dont know the correlation between a Cities ties between its economic impact to its populace. |
highheybee:Let me be a little educative since your level of ignorance is beyond apprehension. I will give you a breakdown of the cities and towns in Kenya and their influence on the local community/ies. ECONOMIC PROSPECTS 1. NAIROBI Industrial zone-basic utility manufacturing Government amenities(Parliament, Senate, office of the President) etc Transport hub- JKIA (Jomo Kenyatta int. Airport) Tourist attraction- Nairobi National park, Nairobi animal orphanage, Bird watching & site seeing -Karura forest Medical Hub- Kenyatta National Hospital(Biggest in East & Central Africa) Academic Center- Kenyatta Uni. Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture, Nairobi Uni, Strathmore etc |
arinzeejikonye:Which one of these actually benefits the local Nigerian populace? Nigerian contributors to this forum have only been showcasing the affluent areas where the few minority rich leave but ignoring the actual topic..... The Kenyans have tried to show you the different projects initiated by the government to revolutionize the local Kenyan citizen at the grassroots. But the Nigerians have turned it into a dick measuring contest where instead of comparing which public hospital is the biggest Nigerians are busy showing us how the few millionaires are the beneficiaries are benefactors of their oil wealth. |
Abagworo:Nigerians 10 cities with 70% poor population, dilapidated medical sector, crippled electricity supply, disoriented education system, no running water, missing hygiene and lack of basic infrastructure. 23,000 dollar millionaires with the biggest GDP in Africa but only benefiting a few!!!!! Nothing to be proud of there. |
Henrydone:You guys are really loosing focus, the main topic was on the social-economy of Kenya and what the Kenyan government is doing different that the Nigeria goverment has failed to do. The issue of skyscrapers does not impact directly to the common citizens since they are private entities. I would rather you show me pictures of government funded and built up hospitals, schools and major impacting amenities that benefit the average Nigerian. |
KENYA RURAL LANSCAPE 1.Lake Bogoria 2.Tree top Hotel 3. Maasai culture 4. Tsavo national park

forgiveness:Now we are talking, initially i always wanted to come to Nigeria to get a feel of what we always see in Nollywood movies. Thats the more reason i joined Nairaland, but the negativity i got from Nigerian bloggers and news items in regards to Kenya were not only mean but a pointer to the systematic degradation of Kenya and its people. But now i am starting to let go off the perception that Nigerians are not at all that bad, lets keep posting pictures of our countries please. |
Watamu town
|
Oxtonguy:This pictures are repeated after every 3 pages or less.... You can see the Kenyan guys are showcasing their home towns while you guys are only concetrating on particular small portion of Lagos only. We have probably shown you not less than ten cities/towns from Kenya but you only manage to show only a hint of the more than 10 or 15 cities/towns that you have. |
