Hi guys!

@siga @gboyegaD @kclexa ...
Pls I need clarification on something someone has been arguing with me about...is it not true that on getting to Canny(alberta in particular) as an international student, you need not apply for a work permit before you can take on a job immediatelyhuh
Thnks

kclexa: Hello future Canadian students; Just a quick info that could save you a lot of cash when you arrive Canada.
Please try to write as much relevant professional certifications in your field before coming over(You got good 3 months). Professional certifications will help you get course exemption in most schools and that is cash savings for you considering Canadian schools charge per credit unit (per subject taken).

And you can also use the professional certificates to get better job opportunities here; so its a win win situation for you
Wow! Thanks so much for that info. It's good to know that Canny is a place that appreciates all academic and professional efforts

IyaEjima: Guys pls help me, applying to Usask, UofM and MUN for Master of Nursing (fall 2015). Submitted d first 2 app forms but one of my referees (academic) is yet to fill d form, turns out she's computer semi-literate and ever busy plus I'm tired of calling her. Wanna ask d prog coordinator for d schools for a change of referee. Would dis have a negative effect on my applications?
No it wouldn't. Speaking from experience, though not from any of the above schools sha, it had no negative effect

@all...especially those presently in canny

My bro wants to do a UG program at SAIT but my biggest fear now is that it may b difficult for him to transfer, after the 2 year program, to a university to earn his bachelors. I just want some kind of assurance that transferring and extending his study visa will not b a problem then.

All contributions are welcomed...thanks

Mcjimmy: @kepner if you are a fresh graduate then state it in your SOP, and in the visa form. You can tell in you sop that you have just finished and you do not want to waste time. Pls do not lie on your sop ... That is why I said your document is just the backup for your sop..Sop is what the visa read most to see how intelligent you are and if they find out you are not so much convincing and serious then you are on your own.
Noted! Thanks

SURGEE: applying for civil engineering sir. not much requirement, have a. 2.1 and I think there isnt any preliminary form for my dept at MUN. just contact those you wanna use as referee and make sure they mail the school the appraisal letter. also make sure you send them your transcript through email. apply online and pay lobatan
wow! so MUN accepts transcripts via email...well that just makes the whole application process cheaper, too bad not many schools in canny do this though
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by Kepner(f): 11:48pm On Sep 23, 2014
Joe980: Not compulsory...your justification would be the correlation between undergraduate course and your intending graduate program.
Thought as much...just needed the clarification.
Thanks!

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by Kepner(f): 10:52pm On Sep 23, 2014
Mcjimmy: 2.If you are yet to submit your documents just make sure you submit the document required by the Canadian embassy. I believe for you to get a visa you must have gotten your
Admission letter: which b4 you are being given you must have forwarded your certificate, transcript, Birthcertificate, WAECresult +Scratchcard, which the school applied to must have made verifications before accepting you.
3. For visa I will like to tell everyone that SOP which means STATEMENT OF PURPOSE carries almost the same percentage of attention with Your sponsors documents. Here is it. For you to win the Vo's mind or who ever is assessing the documents, you must specify who you are? according to the documents you have submitted, what you do and what you like doing? Why you have chosen Canada as a place to study, NOTE there must be a sign of sincerity and convincing statement in what you write in you SOP because after reading it , it,s what will decide the Vo's judgement even if you don't have strongSOA. Let them know that you just want to come and study to gain more international knowledge as a leverage in getting a better job in your country. Let them know you are not going to be a problem at all and you can survive in the country, even you can go as long as stating how productive you are and how their country can benefit from your productivity?
They also want to know if you have a work experience in the proposed course of study as well.

These things are what they want to see and not how rich you or your sponsors are. Your intelligence and skill is needed not your financial flamboyance. My brother and my sister got visa with a statements of account of just 2million naira and they both got their visa within a month and few days. We are not as rich as Dangote but they wrote an SOP that is superb. And they now told me that that is what helped them that Canada need serious minded people and skilled productive as well.
Hi

About this 'related work experience to your studies' thing -how are fresh graduates to justify that part of the SOP?? Is it like a compulsory thing to have work experience?

Holmes007: It really depends on u guys tuition and ur dad's source of income; meaning if the source of income is very good then yes u can submit both Apps while considering both ur tuition + $10000 each for a year.

If not, give it Gap, maybe a week or two or one should apply online while the other paper.
Ooh ok...thanks!

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by Kepner(f): 7:58am On Sep 23, 2014
Good morning all

Please is it possible for my dad to use the same SOA amount (12mil) for both my application and my brother's application at the same time?? Is it possible for the VO to notice and say the money is too small for 2 people ni? huh undecided

saxywale: I am no applicant or student there but I live around and have met several of their students, there are also many reports on newspapers and the internet concerning their reputation and popularity. SAIT and NAIT are both competitive because they supply the Alberta oil fields with manpower. Just like University of Calgary and University of Alberta.

See attached an image of NAIT's application data for petroleum engineering, It shows over 600 application received for just a quota of 60 seats. I have met quite a number of Naija peeps in these schools(SAIT and NAIT). They all confirmed that applying on first day of "application opening" would atleast get you in the front for selection even though it's no guarantee, else na waitlist be that o. Just make sure your bro as good internet access so that he can apply by 12midnight and he should have a second choice school as well.
cool okay...now I'm a bit worried, I was actually comparing to our usual Nigerian schooling system -higher preference to Uni and less to Poly.
I'll inform him ASAP, he does have other choices but I think this is his First.
Thanks for the info!

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by Kepner(f): 3:10pm On Sep 21, 2014
saxywale: SAIT and NAIT are very very very competitive....They usually have more applications than seats available. Imagine over 100 applications for a course that has seats for 15 students. So they usually consider applications from Citizens and PR as priority and leave few slots for foreign students. To anyone who may want to apply to sait or nait in the future, the trick is applying 12am midnight on the first day application opens so you get pushed to the top of the queue.
Hello

Wow I had no idea that Sait is very very competitive o, my bro is actually preparing to apply on there against next fall...we'll keep our fingers crossed though

Re u applicant or student there?
