minnietope:For Paper route, you'll be expected to submit your International passport until the end of the process. I do believe that people still find a way around requesting for their passports, while the application is still in progress, if needed urgently but I have no idea how. |
Siga:Please sir, I would kindly like to know if you've seen any rare case of a 20month program receiving a 3year PGWP after studies. |
physsy:Congrats! |
NaD720:Are you and dbabba the same person? Cos you both are asking similar questions. So many people have shared their experiences and documents on the thread already. Take out time to read some pages back, that'll definitely give you a better understanding of the whole process. |
dbabba:1. No idea, unfortunately, the person with a good contact seems to have been banned but read some pages back, you'll get the information you need. 2. Your birth certificate is the proof of your 'said age' and, I'm assuming it's just as important as your International PP for your application. (Could be wrong though) 3. Paper route seems faster 4. Validating the form, in place of signatures, is all that's needed after completion. |
NigerianNewbie:Hi!!! ![]() Congrats on your admission to UOttawa. Forgive my excitement, it's just always refreshing to see fellow future students. As someone already suggested, you need not travel to Accra to submit an application. Just decide on whichever route will be more convenient for you and hope for the very best. For the processing time, it's hard to tell these days but approximately 2months (paper seems less though), which means you'll well have reasonable time left to prepare. Cheers. P.S: the 31weeks doesn't necessarily apply |
Cherokee:Sent. |
Cherokee:I'm not too sure. I had copies of the forms already before I started my application. You could drop your Mail briefly and I could send you a copy. |
Bimbolamelo:Yeah you can. All the best! |
Bimbolamelo:Okay 3 months should be just fine. Processing time (paper route) has been looking like 5-6 weeks before medicals and 1-2 weeks for passport request. It's not constant though..could be longer. I'll advice that you tell your sponsor(s) to start preparing the account, it's usually 6 months SOA needed. Once you've gotten your admission you can come back for clarifications you may need. For now...just follow the thread, check out part 6 if you can, to familiarize yourself with the whole visa processing (the information really helps) and you should also check the Cic website. |
mcdonald123:Cic sometimes request for medicals again regardless, it's safer to be available. |
Bimbolamelo:Your chances are probably just the same as any other person's...just have the right documents and you should be good to go. The thing that comes to mind is how long or short your holiday will be? or are you coming home with the mind of not returning back to India?? Cos if you intend traveling back to India, how will you be able to undergo your medical exams when requested?? |
Lol...you people will not kill somebody with laughter. @SeyiMiilan None taken! Thanks.@Gods1son Alright dear...either way, good luck! |
SeyiMiilan:Sorry but when it comes to work issues, I have no idea what might suffice in place of a Leave letter but I do know it's a frequent question asked here sha...so you should probably read back a few pages and you'll see what to do about that. |
MockinJay:Lol...definitely too soon. I find it extremely flattering but I have my fears myself. I dare not complain cos I have a little bro (even though he be forming grown up...lol) to watch over in Canada so you can just imagine how strong and tough I have to be for both our sakes. But thanks though I hope to sign that 'wonderful form' some day. ![]() |
Gods1son:I'm female bro. NO, I'm not saying you shouldn't talk about NYSC, I'm telling you to talk about it cos that's what you've been engaged in for a while now. What I wouldn't advise is for you to mention your COMPLETION DATE, try to avoid it. We (including VO) know that everyone's NYSC is a year program, but try not to dwell on the finish date, so the VO can perceive your readiness to resume school, even though you wouldn't have completed service by then. Talk about your Service like an open program that'll cause no obstruction/delay to your resumption date of the Uni in Canada. For example: I went back to checky's posts and saw that he he was a Registered masters student of OAU...so this should make you see that the VO saw his readiness to resume Canada nonetheless his program here in Naija. |
MockinJay:Oh really! Well to be honest, I remember reading somewhere that Black students aren't so many in BC (they've got more of Asians , don't know how true though), but you shouldn't let that scare you.I believe, once a school has something that interests/benefits you, you should go for it...cos truth be told, in a year or so, the system is gonna be so familiar and the black thing would matter less. Besides how bad can it be really? and people generally say 'Nigerians are everywhere' so, you should be alright...Lol. ![]() But if it's nothing special, and the whole race thing worries you that much, you could check out other schools with a larger majority of Blacks...I hope it's not too late for Fall session. I personally feel that you'll be fine with UVic after all! Best of luck dear. |
SeyiMiilan:Hi For the letter of introduction, yes it should be signed by your sponsor. As for the SOP, well, mine wasn't signed sha cos it was more of a story than a letter but I think you can still sign yours if you wish (that shouldn't be an issue). For the passports, if the old one has visa stamps, then you should well submit both old and new. Please try to list your docs before submitting so members of the house can help contribute, and tell you if you're missing anything. Good luck! |
MockinJay:Lol...I particularly find your posts interesting cos you always recommend UVic at every little opportunity you get. It was one of my choices initially until my point of interest changed. And your posts are impressively mature for an undergrad, really helpful. Keep up the good work. |
Gods1son:I think you should mention NYSC in your application cos April 2014 to date is long time of being idle. Chekyink was engaged in an active program (though not NYSC) and got his Trv. I also spoke about an active program (also not NYSC) in my application and successfully got my Trv. I'll just advice that you refrain from mentioning your service completion date, so as not to be perceived as an obstruction to your resuming to Canada. Even though the VOs know what NYSC is, make it seem that, to you, it's an open program that would not affect your resumption. I hope this makes sense sha, this is a personal opinion though. All the best! |
Moheat:Yeah. Statement of Purpose and Letter of Explanation generally mean the same thing in this context. |
Team12:I think we can agree that yours was under the 'fixed/special case' I mentioned cos you were to begin your program in the summer session. And from my understanding, regular uOttawa students generally observe the summer break without having to pay tuition for the summer (I think, except he/she wants to take courses or perform any other academic activity). This has been confirmed by active students. |
CoCoLav:Hi! Lol@impatient dad, I was in a similar position few months back. Well according to the kind help I got here, uOttawa students hardly take courses during the summer (except it's fixed or any other special case). So the $7014 will be per session (fall session & winter session) and that'll make $7014*2 for a full year's payment. But you should also note that fall session may be a little more expensive than the winter session, and you should also make consideration for the health plan fees. I hope this helps. Btw...what course & session are you going for? |
Newww1:I personally think it doesn't matter right now what you submitted or not, cos it's already in the hands of the Visa Officer(s). All you have to do now is pray hard and have faith that it's gonna be positive. As for the Police character certificate, a good number of peeps didn't include it in their app and still got their Trv. All the best! |
YoboTerry:For some time now, It's been an average of 5-6 weeks. |

databasecareers:Thanks. Yeah...will do that soon |

MockinJay:Lol...I thought the same thing too when I first joined the forum. It's probably because of GP as someone mentioned. |
opsynusy:Congrats dear. Thank God there's been a lot of good news lately, and Paper route has been doing quite alright for some time now. I pray it continues to work out well for us all! |
edwinbiz:Yes. |
Cos you both are asking similar questions.

I find it extremely flattering but I have my fears myself. I dare not complain cos I have a little bro (even though he be forming grown up...lol) to watch over in Canada so you can just imagine how strong and tough I have to be for both our sakes.
