jckeme: Applied in November 2013, got a reply in March 2014 Omg! That's a very long time though...I guess there's nothing wrong with Amby's application then, just normal procedure. I'm soo glad mine didn't take that long...can't stand such a long wait. |

Optimall: . What you mean bro? I think tarigbabu means... if your Trv is issued today the 21st, it'll be stated on it as the issue date but at the same time, the Trv will still cover the entire period of your study..be it 1year from Jan 2015, or 2years. I hope this is clear |

Graviton2: Lol. I'm for UG (I'm only 19)
I'll check out that school, I sincerely hope the school offers UG the same mouth-watering offers.
Thanks for your assistance. I appreciate it. Oh I see Well I hope they do too and be sure to ask a lot of questions where in doubt. I know SFU Grad has a very good response system. Once again, good luck! |

amby7: Thanks.. I did apply for winter session and i actually called when it got to 8 weeks (was told my file would be forwarded to the admission committe and should expect a response the following week). Called again yesterday and was told to wait for about another 2 weeks, suprised its taking this long. thanks again You're welcome. Well, it's surprising too but probably their workload...the good thing is you haven't received any regret mail so far. I just hope your TRv application doesn't delay you further though. Was uOttawa your only choice?? |

Graviton2: Hey, Kepner.
True, I did search for these schools with my course preference in mind (Political science).
Do you have any suggestions? Okay then...I'm just going to assume you're for PG studies since you didn't indicate. You could add Simon Fraser University(SFU) to your list, though it's pretty competitive, their tuition is well affordable and they provide a lot of funding options from TA/RA positions, to Coop opportunities and more... With all being said, you already have a list of very good schools...don't forget you'll still have to consider money for application processing and all that. Just try contacting the schools if you have questions/doubts, I'm pretty sure they'll be happy to help...trust me, I contacted many! Good luck! |

Graviton2: Guys,
I'd like your help regarding my unique case — I have a US visa but owing to certain circumstances (funds mostly) I couldn't make the trip this August. I'm applying again and I don't want to put all my proverbial eggs into one basket. I intend applying to Canada too but I need help regarding schools with low/affordable study expenses (ones that won't serve as red flags at the embassy).
I have already researched and I have come up with four schools, I would like you guys to advise my decision and hopefully suggest more schools that meet my demand.
The schools are — University of Manitoba University of Ottawa University of Prince Edward Island Memorial University
(I wanted to add Concordia but the expenses pursue me) Hello graviton.. The schools you mentioned are quite alright when talking about affordable cost and all...but aren't you also supposed to look for schools in line with a particular course option in mind?? |

amby7: Good morning house.. pls redribs i noticed u have bin admitted to Uottawa for PG, I also applied to said school and have been waiting for a decision for 10 weeks now. I'd want to know how long it took u to recieve a decision from them.. Any1 else that has an input on dis pls comment.. thanks Hi... I also applied to uOttawa(Fall 2015) and it took them about 4 weeks to get back to me. I think it depends on the number of applications being processed at the time. More workload equals delay, especially if you applied for Winter session. My advice will be for you to send them a mail requesting your app status cos 10weeks is a long time...you should get a reply soonest. |

Haven't secured admission yet with any school sha but he's interested in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering, and from what I've heard and read, Alberta has a booming Oil sect, so that's like our best bet for him. ManTiger: Consider this... Take time to figure out what exactly was wrong with your first application, check thoroughly what's missing, get it fixed and patch all loops, then reapply. Sept is never too long. Include your UCI number in your next apps. Consider being consistent... Saves you time to search for another schl, apps fee and unnecessary explanations on the change of schl. I'm also in for Sept 2015 and for now, I'm enjoying "Farm Life" Omg! you're probably the first Fall 2015 applicant I'm seeing on here. I was beginning to think it was too early for me to be here...good to know I'm not alone. From your post I'm assuming you've gotten admission already...what school if I may ask? |

Holmes007: I am not completely sure, i made my research online and Nigeria was among countries that require transit visa if travelling thru the UK but as oga siga had said since u hold a Canadian study visa u might not require one.
My advice, walk into their office in Lagos and make further enquiries. Thanks! And by their office, I'm guessing you mean the UK embassy or...?? |

Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 6 by Kepner(f): 5:53pm On Oct 02, 2014 |
Holmes007: My sincere advice to recent TRV choppers. if you plan to travel by Nov/Dec and you haven't booked your flight ticket or maybe you are waiting till a week to when you wanna travel.
DONT TRY IT! cus the tickets will be expensive then except of course you are very rich.
Imagine flying to Canada with less than N150k via Ethopia and less than 200k via BA and KLM(Booking through their official website).
Out of curiosity, i went to 2 travel agencies to see if i can get cheaper rates but to my dismay, their charges were higher than that of the official carrier/airline. imagine one "ASKARI" charged me N2.4mill!... lol
For some Airline like BA and KLM, it is cheaper now if you book return ticket online (lets say you depart Nov/Dec 2014 and Return May 2015). Note: its not compulsory to come back by that may 2015 oh. For those who dont have a US or UK Visa, avoid route through the USA and UK since one requires a Transit Visa.
Finally, if your TRV is at hand, book now, and for all awaitees', immediately you Chop please book on time as well so as to save some cash. I am beginning to feel like i should have booked a month ago when my visa was approved maybe i would have booked a ticket for less than N100k Hi Just to be sure, do you also need a transit visa while travelling through UK route? I know BA always make their stop in the UK |
