Your milk will most likely be thrown into the garbage. Don't waste your money. Milk isn't really expensive. You can get a litre of fresh milk for $1-2. It'll even be heavy in your luggage sef. Just my opinion sha
shocked Please, does this also apply to powdered milk as well?

I also got an admission into uottawa and am still confused about their tuition fee...for am MEng, am paying for 4 semesters right?
Hi,
I don't know about MEng fees but if it's a 2 year program, you'll be paying for 4 sessions in total (summer terms excluded).
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by Kepner(f): 2:59pm On Jul 18, 2015
Lol! Just because there's a quota in place (which is completely reasonable) does not mean people won't still receive medical call/trv between now and Sept. It just simply means applicants for fall resumption now stand a lesser chance of getting their applications approved...silly reasons arising.

For 2016 applicants present, it'll be best if you start making plans to put in your applications as early as possible...there's absolutely nothing wrong with putting in your application wayy ahead of your resumption date. The rest of mind and certainty it gives is absolutely amazing.

I sincerely wish everyone success, believe in God & keep the faith alive...quota or not, you will definitely be celebrated.

Cheers guys.

Uottawa peeps in the house pls i need your help. I dont seem to understand the tuition for the m.eng program. I need some enlightement.
Hi,

Just noticed your post. It was a bit confusing for me as well, it's basically the sum of fall+winter+health insurance. Not sure about your department, but it generally sums up around 14k or so. You should ignore summer fees unless you plan on taking courses in the summer.

They may not have updated the figures for your starting school year yet, so, just use an estimate of the previous year (winter 2015, fall 2015) available on the website.

You could also email the accounts department if you're still not clear with anything else.

Hope this helps.

Oh OK. From your post, I got the feeling that you were too busy or not ready to go get them. Misconception. Good luck still!

send a mail to accraimmigration. it's in the mail they sent to u. they will reply in about 5 working days. mine came the same way (without medical form), then I wrote to them through all the email available in the email sent to me. they replied in 5day but on the 8 day after the first medical mail my application was dispatch from accra when I have not even done the medicals. they could be funny sometimes. yet to pick up my documents.
I do think it's possible that you got your Trv approved already (as we all know, these people can be unusual sometimes) but there's still that other larger possibility of delay, given that you didn't even undergo any medical examination, it's there for a reason.

But I think what baffles me the most is the fact that you haven't even gone to pick up your documents by now, you're not even the least bit anxious.. that's amazing.

Thanks so much for the reply....

yes two related pple...( the same surname) but when u say well funded. SOA.....

like. how much are we looking at?

when you say well funded.....do you mean the inflow or the closing balance? thanks kissThanks so much for the reply....
You're welcome!

Well, I can't quote an exact figure for the SOA balance, but I'll just say enough to cover tuition (1 year), boarding, and living expenses (for at least 6 months), for the both of you.

Seems like a lot though, but in some lucky cases your sponsor's cash flow can be good enough to show the VO evidence of good funding. You could also tell your sponsor to include investments (properties, stocks, etc), if available.

I also hope there's a good enough relationship between you guys and your sponsor because you wouldn't want to get the VO wondering why he/she is willing to expend so much.

ok bro I meant can two pple use the same SOA?at almost the same time....
Hi,

Do you mean 2 related people using the same SOA or 2 unrelated people using the same SOA?? Is the SOA going to be adequately funded for both applicants?

I ask because I know 2 relatives can use a WELL-FUNDED SOA to apply at the same time (probably possible at different times as well), as long as there's a proven/obvious relationship between both applicants and of course, between the applicants and the sponsor providing the SOA.

But if you're referring otherwise, I have no idea.

I'm not panicking, its just that I have a scholarship somewhere else to accept by august, and applying outside Nigeria is something I'm not sure of how the trv application works. And I have to make a decision on the scholarship depending on what ottawa offers me.
Okay. I think I understand better now. Looks like you still have the rest of June & July, that seems like more than enough time for you to decide. You'll get it soon.

I wouldn't want to disturb my supervisor with administrative problems, I'm a winter applicant and I guess he has students he is attending to now, I only mail him to discuss my research(once in a while).

My mails are always sent to gradinfoatuottawa.call and gradsci@uottawa.ca

Yes, the info web changed the same day I received the admission offer email.

Since you received your PDF copy in 6 weeks, let me keep waiting then, I've just waited for only 3 weeks.

I pray and hope the offer doesn't have a timeline for acceptance, I wouldn't want to lose that admission.

@Montrealer,

Thanks, but it wasn't attached to the e-mail.
Oh I see.

It'll still be best you direct your correspondence to a person in particular, hence my suggestion of your Grad Asst...I'm pretty sure your Grad Asst. can not possibly be your Supervisor or is He?

And the Offer always has a timeline but this won't be a problem because when the Letter is dated is always put into consideration, and you don't have that yet.

Anyway, you still have sufficient time left, and I'm sure you'll be receiving it soon enough...nothing serious to worry about.

Good luck.

Hi Kepner,

I received a mail of " congratulations: admission offer" on may 30th.

Today makes it 3 weeks ago, no mail from them and no email either, I've sent them an e.ail, I hope they reply soon.

Also, did they send the PDF letter by nipost or private courier? And did you actually receive it?

The efficiency of NIPOST send shivers down my spine.

I'm just scared because they give applicants a timeline to accept the admission, what if the timeline expires before I even have the chance of receiving the admission offer?

This is quite pathetic
First of all, relax, don't panic...make sure you're directing all emails to your Departmental Grad Asst. and any other contact you can find, he/she is your fastest bet of getting a quick response. Then, understand something, If you don't have a dated Offer letter yet...there's really no deadline to be worried about (asides visa app.), nothing is counting. Just concentrate on getting through to someone and receiving the Offer. Besides, UOttawa can be very flexible, the worst will be to defer till January (and that's not so bad).

Have you received any recommendation from Faculty of grad studies?? Because, I think this comes before the main letter itself. The "congratulations: admission offer" was probably forwarded from your Infoweb, I can't even remember receiving any email like this.

Lol! And yes, I received the Letter in good condition, It was sent by Post not Courier, it took about 6 weeks to get to me. This was after I had already received a soft copy of it.

Indeed we are. I got the mail for medicals this evening. I was ecstatic when I saw it; I still am actually, beaming at my laptop screen.

Thank God.

Thank to some particular folks for all of your advice and info shared: @CoCoLav , @Solo8 , @harkinhola, @mevisbleek, @Kepner and everyone else who contributes on this thread. You guys are awesome.

I pray for everyone else expecting good news, you will receive it by God's grace.
Congrats! I've been especially expectant about yours and Coco's since when Trv started dropping amazingly. I honestly haven't seen anyone, since I've been on NL, from UOttawa with Trv delay (except that one time with Red), but I guess it's all just coincidental and of course God's grace.

Big congrats to you once again and success to those still awaiting their good news...It's been a joyful week so far.

Cheers.

How did Uottawa send your admission letter to you?
By email, mail or what means?
I am yet to receive my admission letter even though I got a successful email for them 3 weeks ago.
I've called them but they don't t pick their calls.
Hi,

They usually send a PDF copy of the letter to your email before the hard copy arrives your physical address. The successful email you got, was it the one stating that you've been recommended by Faculty of Grad studies?...Just try to email your department to know what the delay is all about. Also check your spam, it may have dropped there.

Hello my people, please I need your advice on something very urgent. I have been accepted into a Masters program in Brandon University (to resume in September 2015); and I was notified by the Faculty of Education graduate studies my admissions package was mailed out on 22nd of May, 2015. They also sent me a scanned copy of the admissions letter.

But the General Admissions Office is yet to send their own acceptance letter. I called the General Admissions Office yesterday, but they told me they are Still working on the acceptance letter.

My question now is this: can I print out the electronic copy of the admissions letter sent to me from the Graduate Studies Office and use it to process my visa(considering the fact that time is not on my side)?
Hi

I'm sure you'll be able to use the copy you have presently, as long as it states the school's information, your information, start date, course of study, and any other extras. Right now, try to focus your energy on your other required documents. As you said, there's really no time left.

Sorry for the repetition...just noticed the above post

I want to know if you were able to register your courses from here in Nigeria or if you did on getting to Ottawa, also, did you have to take any compulsory courses in your first session? Lol...I know it's been a while but I'm just a little anxious, and the website isn't giving me much of anything. Thanks.

As soon as you're able to gather all your necessary documents. It's never too early to get your study visa as long as it's for your stipulated resumption date.

Thanks guys for the information on Ottawa, it really helps.

Hi NigerianNewbie!
Funny thing is I recently went through the site you suggested and thought it was completely outrageous to pay 800CAD/month for a shared room shocked instead, I'll rather settle for on-campus accommodation.

To be honest, thinking about accommodation now is somewhat frustrating because you get to see these beautiful, well equipped apartments online but as Harkinhola said, no one ever responds to emails unfortunately. And again, redribs mentioned that the prices get higher in the Fall so, we should consider that as well.
I must say sha that it's really good to have knowledge of the best areas before hand at least.

I think we are already 3 now heading to Ottawa in the Fall (if I'm not mistaking), so, I'm pretty sure we'll be able to work something out by then.

Wish you guys the very best in your Visa applications! smiley
