It is a well known FACT,so nobody recognizes the Igbos when you talk about education.HOME AND ABROAD...EDUCATION HAS BECOME THE BIRTHMARK OF THE YORUBAS.
MIRACLE CENTRES THING AND YOU ARE HAPPY.SMH...
Look at the real thing.

EVEN ABROAD..

The Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, UP, says Romola Adeola is its youngest doctoral graduate. In a statement on its website, the centre said: “Romola Adeola, 26, has set a record in being the youngest person to obtain a Doctor of Laws degree (LLD) in the 30-year history of the Centre for Human Rights.

Furthermore, she is only the 2nd youngest person to achieve this in the Faculty of Law, UP, since its establishment 107 years ago. She distinguished herself by completing the LLD in under 3 years. During her undergraduate years at Lagos State University (LASU), she was the Best Student in International Law.

Romola’s relationship with the Centre for Human Rights began from her participation in the 2008 African Human Rights Moot Court Competition. In 2012, she was selected as a DAAD scholar to study for the LLM/MPhil degree in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa.

She graduated cum laude, earning two awards: the Kéba M’Baye award for the overall Best Dissertation and the Victor Dankwa prize for the Best Performance in the module: Human Rights in Africa. Her excellent record earned her admission to the Centre’s doctoral programme in 2013.

In her PhD thesis, she analyzed the obligation in article 10 of the African Union Convention in relation to the Protection and Assistance of Internally Displaced Persons in Africa. She has given interviews, presented papers at international conferences and been the voice of the Centre on issues of internally displaced persons, migrants and refugees. .

During her time here, she led the Disability Rights Clinic and served as Alumni Coordinator. In this latter capacity, she led a campaign calling for the release of prominent Swazi human rights activist – Thulani Maseko, and raised funding to support his family.

She attributes her success to her supportive parents, personal discipline, perseverance and prayer. In her words, ‘be faithful to God, be true to yourself and be of service to humanity.’ She also holds two diplomas from Åbo Akademi University.”

There is no such thing as even distribution of wealth, do your research.

Beat your chest till it's sore, it does not change the facts that Dangote is wealthier than the top 10 ibo businessmen combined, and that Northerners (whether in business or politics) form the wealthiest band of Nigerians in this country.

Not that it matters to any illuminated mind.
CAN DANGOTE'S TAX SUSTAIN TAX A STATE?

LOOK AS AT THE TIME WHEN EL-RUFIL AS FGT MINISTER HE DID SAY THAT 63% OF THE PROPERTY WERE OWNED BY THE IGBOS, WHY NOT DANGOTE? THEY PAY LAND-USE-CHARGE AND INCOME TAX, NO DEVELOPED ECONOMY IS DEPENDENT ONE COMPANY.

Ibos are very good at buying and selling specific things but that is a very small part of business. Running a poultry is business and to the best of my knowledge day old chicks are not being produced in the entire SE(I stand to be corrected) You always hear Ibos boast about how big Onitsha market is which reveals their mindset about what business is.

Is Nairaland a business? Yes
Does it involve shops and containers? No
But the Ibo man's mind set about business is big markets , lots of containers and LOTS of cash . They will tell you of huge volumes of cash being moved up and down

The number one business in Nigeria today is telecomm. Everyday people buy recharge cards and the companies do not have to beg anyone. Are they Ibo run ? NO!!!
Are there containers involved? No

We see trailers on the road daily moving vegetables and petrol up and down the country and no one can say this is dominated by Ibos
What about Abokis killing people who mess with their cows? Do we think they are doing business or just having fun?
Abokis selling Dollars nko are they having a picnic?
The truth is all Nigerians do business and different groups have acumen for different things. By far the largest part of our Economy is Agriculture,Telecomms ,oil and gas ,Banking and finance and then manufacturing

NOT in ANY ONE of these can Ibos be said to be dominant. NOT ONE. In Agriculture in particular ,the biggest segment of our economy, What do Ibos produce? That Nigerians buy daily ? Is it Garri, Tomatoes,Onions or Pineapples oranges cashews palm oil eggs ,chicken or fish.

Ibo people should stop making noise. The truth is if we were to ethnicize things then the biggest businessmen in Nigeria are the North and SW not Ibos

The Ibos are best at trading which is the lower end of business.

At the high end they will continue making noise about INNOSON but when you probe deeper it is empty

We are waiting for the Ibo Nairaland

Those who produce and sell foodstuff in Nigeria they are the real businessmen and they do so without Noise.
WHICH MARKET IN LAGOS DO YORUBAS HAVE DOMINANCE?
YOU SAID WE ARE TRADERS, HERE IS THE LATEST REPORT ON EDUCATION

I laugh at your naivety. Your link is long stale and does not even prove a thing. Go to all african cities (including nigeria)and see who dominates or competes favorably in trade and investment.

Go to India, US, China, Japan, Germany, etc and see the major Africans running the show economically there.

You people believe igbos will suffer if we breakaway violently because our huge investments are scattered ALL OVER the federation...

Am working and I really don't have time to link some facts here. Seriously, there is nothing to prove.

Substandard Ko..... Ministandard ni... Real estate in Lagos , abuja and pH, which non indigenes owns most of it? Even in other states, who competes with themselves and other indigenes in the business? Yeye ...

Nollywood, sports, etc who stands tallest? Who owns HOME GROWN industries like emzor, juhel, finlab, slok, slot, fidelity, zenith, Diamond, golden guinea brewies, novena majestry furnitures, zinox, etc?

I imagine we would not hear a word if the richest and most successful business man in Africa, Aliko Dangote, was Ibo.
HAVING ONE RICHEST MAN IS NOT THE SAME AS EVEN DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH WHICH IS GOOD FOR ANY COUNTRY.

THE GDP OF AN AVERAGE HAUSA MAN MAY BE $300 PER PERSON
WHILE THAT OF IGBOS MAY BE AS MUCH AS $3000 PER PERSON.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.
The SS us not resistant to change. They are worried about northern domination and bitter that their son lost the elections. I have been to Yenagoa twice this year and lived in Nigeria Delta for more than twenty years. All of them know Goodluck is a sorry excuse of a hunan being to have had as president but if it were possible for Goodluck to contest again they would give him 100% support. It is a funny psychology but I think they are honorable people and they say the truth about the ills of the Jonathan regime. Ijaw people don't tell lies easily.

It is however the SE that has destroyed it's politics with over identification with the clueless, cortupt Goodluck Jonathan presidency. They are completely blind to truth and cannot seem divorce their tribal ideology from their political / business aspirations. The region is now wearing the toga of defenders of corruption unfairly even though culturally they are supposed to be the most hardworking, fair minded of all tribes . I think the problem is Goodluck Jonathan himself and the sympathy that the corrupt simpleton of a joker is generating in the kinds of the youths. This is now being deliberately exploited by older and more experienced politicians in their west for relevance.
DID YOU SAY SOUTH EAST? WHICH COUNTRY PRACTICES OUR TYPE OF DEMOCRACY, WHERE STATES DEPEND ON FEDERAL 90%? AM SORRY IF YOU CAN'T SEE. HOW CAN WE MOVE FORWARD WHEN THE APC STATES FUNDED BUHARI AND RESULTED TO THEIR FINANCIAL INSOLVENCY, WHY NOT PROBE THOSE GOVERNORS TOO.

THE EAST ARE NOT AGAINST FIGHTING CORRUPTION, IBB, ATIKU, ABUSALAM, OBJ, TY DANJUMA, ABACHA ARE WALKING FREE AND YOU ARE VICTIMIZING JONATHAN.
WHERE IS $36 BILLION DOLLARS OBASANJO SAID HE INVESTED ON POWER SECTOR, AND WE ARE BUSY CHASING $2.1.
SELECTIVE JUSTICS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.

COMPANIES ARE LAYING OFF, NAIRA LOSING VALUE AND OUR PRESIDENT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE TROUBLED. A GOVERNMENT THAT GAVE N29 BILLION TO AGRIC, AND N39 BILLION TO INFORMATION WHAT SORT OF CHANGE IS THAT?

abduljabbar4:
Friday Olokor, Abuja
A civil rights organisation, Global Centre for Conscious Living Against Corruption, has called on the Islamic Movement of Nigeria to apologise to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratai, over an assassination attempt on his life by the sect on December 12, 2015 in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The organisation also appealed to the Federal Government to consider the use of half-hijab by Muslim women instead of outright ban in the interest of fairness.
The National Coordinator of GCCLAC, Dr. Gabriel Nwambu, and Women Leader, Hajia Maina Abubakar, made the demands during a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja.

According to them, the coalition deemed it fit to embark on an independent verification and fact-finding mission to unravel the remote and immediate cause or causes of the clash as well as verifying the facts following accusations and counter-accusations by the two parties involved.

Nwambu stated that independent investigations revealed that the loss of lives could have been averted had all efforts to resolve the issue amicably not been resisted by the Shi’ites group.

While acknowledging that the clash led to loss of lives, he insisted that the number of those that died was exaggerated by Shi’ite sympathisers.

Nwambu said the right of Buratai, being a symbol of the Nigerian Army was grossly violated, adding that “an attempt to assassinate him was also made because he was ambushed.”

Nwanbu said, “We want Nigerians to get this fact very clear; based on our findings, the fact that somebody is a military personnel or an officer does not insulate him or prevent him from enjoying the fundamental human rights as entrenched in the constitution.

“We are saying he narrowly escaped death, and for those who have gone biased to say that there was nothing bad, that the army was busy killing people, it is important to note that the Sergeant in the US Marine in Wowood was murdered with just a knife. So, dangerous weapons of all sorts by the mob constitute a major threat to life.”
