I am sorry to hear you got crap in Turkey and from the Chinese restaurant. Shame on them. I'm not sure if the price was really being told as 80Euro or 18, though, because those numbers sound very similar in English and German, but even 18EU for a Chinese buffet is a ripoff. I can't say much about Frankfurt, but I absolutely love Berlin and Göttingen as well as the country in general; it wasn't too expensive, even when I was a student. Yeah, there being Bier every 3M sounds right. If you are looking for affordable food, buy kebab döner for 3-5Euro -- much better than McDonalds. As has been said elsewhere here, Munich (München) is expensive but also a really fun city.

Aaah, that feeling. I do't normally advocate using chemicals to compensate for things, but you may want to try having a few cups of German coffee ready in Frankfurt; it's really good and they make it strong.

It's the difference in germs. Oftentimes, there are different bacteria which naturally live with the foods of different peoples. Some peoples may also be more strict on keeping food clean or controlling bacteria than others. There is also just the fact that different people have different immune responses. When I lived in Russia for a year, everyone tried the local yogurt and dairy products. I was the only one who never got sick from them. When I say sick, I mean food poisoning that kept people in bed for days. Travelling is also stressful and you are exposed to different pathogens than at home. Your body is not only weaker, but it has less preexisting defense for the new things it has to fight. I recall being pretty healthy in Russia until we took a trip to Saint Petersburg. Then, on our second day there, I woke up with a terrible flu: a fever >38C, I was not thinking well, I was tired, I was slow, and my nose was all clogged. It took more than a week to get better, and I always had a cold for the rest of the time I was there.

Claremont, as others have posted here, Europe does not really have "bushmeat" in the sense of going into the wild and coming back with meat you kill. Knowing Europe, it is probably beef, chicken, or lamb if the sellers are Muslims (most likely Turks). If they are Christians, then it's probably beef, chicken, or pork. Regardless, it was almost certainly raised on a farm and bought at a grocery store or a butcher shop. Not even gun and hunt crazy Americans sell much game meat, or at least not on the side of the road. not that I know how they do it.

Swartz & NePro, If the meat is being sold by Gypsies, I have no idea what it could be, but it's probably something they farmed themselves and are just (likely illegally) selling direct. I've never been to Europe before and german embassy gave me 2 weeks visa, so I can as well visit all the places I can while at it.

I'm travelling with a 10 month old baby. She's pretty strong (we've been on the road since she was 1 week old, and travelling since she was 1 month old, so I'm guessing she will be a good sport).

I have family and friends in Milan, but I'm arriving in Frankfurt 1st, then taking a bus from Frankfurt to Milan through Switzerland (cheaper than the train).

If you have experience in taking this kind of journey please help me draw out a plan.

I personally will love to visit Munich, Berlin, Geneva, Venice and Rome as well, but I think it will be quite a herculean task visiting each city with a baby strapped to my back or chest.

I'm starting the journey at the end of this month, and even if you can't come with me, stay hooked to this thread!

In a previous post in this very thread, I made a purpose of pointing out that there are multiple different black populations, cultures, languages, and gene pools. I illustrated that perhaps a full fifth of the world's language exist just in Nigeria alone. It was to illustrate the point that not all Africans, black, pale, or swarthy, are one enormous monolithic group. I have pointed out scientific evidence which applies on large scales such as populations and civilizations across history. The conclusive evidence is that the Egyptians, ancient and modern, are primarily of north African, Berber, Nilotic, and even afro-asiatic descent, and that historically speaking, yes, there have been and there are many black Egyptians, but the primary population of Egypt is not black, nor was it in the dynastic periods, though perhaps more blacks lived in Egypt then than today, and that due to the great cultural proximities between Egypt and Nubia and Kush, that black peoples certainly were integrated and common in Egyptian society to the point where there were lines of black pharaohs. If I were being Eurocentric, I would have made an effort to actively link and implicate Egypt and Europe, to imply that Egypt was a European kingdom on the African continent. I believe no such thing and I say no such thing. The skin tones of other north African peoples, such as many Berbers, are consistent with the skin tones of peoples from similar latitudes, as the Berbers get darker the farther south they go. Swarthy Berber and Egyptian skin tones match the skin tones of many Black people from around the world, but it does not make them black on account of there being different genetic markers and physical features between the two populations, just as many Euro peoples have the same skin color as far east Asian peoples, and yet nobody in their right mind would claim that the two are or were one

The Egyptians did not and do not look like black Africans. While the skin colors are similar, features like face shape and hair are totally different. Keep in mind that Chinese and Europeans are only at most distantly related despite having similar skin colors.

In regards to Egypt, wrong again. Egypt has a plethora of ethnic groups including Siwa Berbers (who are true Berbers and have never mixed) as you can see they have a very unique look that almost resembles the oldest people in the world (Khoisan of southern Africa). Many Tuaregs have that Siwa look too with Asiatic eyes but with black hair and dark skin.

Another group in Egypt and also neighbouring Sudan are the Nubians. Egypt has a bunch of ethnic groups. So your misinformation is incorrect.

The Siwa are Berbers and they live in Egypt. Thank you for telling me about them; they are an interesting case as most Berbers live further west. However, they are a distinct population from the Egyptians and from others like the Nubians. I did not claim all Egpytians were ethnic Egyptian, merely the majority. To say that there are no minorities in Egypt would be like claiming that there are no non-Nihonjin in Japan, a lie.

About the Egyptians, DNA studies indicate that Egyptians are their own ethnic group and have changed little in 5000 years, meaning ancient Egyptians looked like modern Egyptians. The Egyptians are not Arabs; they have more DNA in common with other northern Africans like the Berbers. There is not much DNA mixture between Egyptians and Nubians. However, the two cultures lived very close to each other and had great influence over each other. Nubia even built pyramids and had kings styled like pharaohs. And Egypt adopted some Nubian customs and even had a number of black nubian pharaohs. We know from Egyptian art that the Egyptians saw themselves as being like red and could clearly distinguish between red skin tones and black skin tones. That's all from me on the subject.

West Africa is one of the most diverse places in the world. Period. The world has 2500 languages and a full fifth of them are found just in Nigeria. West African people are genetically distinct from east Africans as the east Africans are distinct from southern Africans. There is a reason why skin tones and face shapes are different between these regions.
