@mrnilobrown@hayqinsbFx@solo8 u guys should keep calm; everybody just trying to share their views. @solo8 doesn't know much about the value of HND that's why he passed such statement. Have seen a lot of dudes that got admitted into top schools in the US even with full funding with just their OND+HND results. Like @mrnilbrown said it all depends on the contents of your transcript and WES evaluation. |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by kfrosh: 9:16am On May 25, 2015 |
So on point sire mrnilobrawn: US schools uses WES evaluation for admission while some schools in canada do too. Lik MUN, Laurentian Uni..etc. other Canadian school has there own inhouse evaluators. Thats y u are required to send an official transcrpt from ur schools in naija. Have'nt u heared of those with BSc. Or B.Eng been rejected for admission? Your transcript is what matters. Ofcourse u should know the contents of a transcript!! |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by kfrosh: 11:39pm On May 24, 2015 |
Just a quick one bro; how can you qualify to become a P.Eng in Canada with your Naija B.Eng knowing fully well that you can't get admitted into Canada's Masters program cos of grade wahala.Any tips Solo8: I hope you jumped on the offer of admission because I really think those schools did not know what HND was, since we don't have that here. I've never heard of this happening before. I just think they offered it to you thinking it is equivalent, they love international students because you pay double of what we pay, so those smaller school will be quick to offer your a masters entrance so as to boost up their graduate dept (this matters a lot to the prestige of this school, the more graduate students you have the better)
The school's don't set the minimum when it comes to Engineering, The CEAB (canadian engineering accreditation board) sets it. If the school messes up they risk having their accreditation withdrawn, if that happens then your degree is pretty much worthless. You'll never be able to get your P.ENG license and nobody will hire you. (When you get finish your bachelor's you get your iron ring, if you dont have an iron ring, you are not an engineer). I've not heard of one case where even people with advance diploma gets an entrance into M.Eng. Its not just your transcript, you need a certain number of hours to qualify to for a B.Eng (or B.Sc in Eng), doesn't matter what courses you took. If you don't have those hours you can not qualify for your bachelors. That's why most schools don't offer engineering coarses in the summer, because they simple can't give the students the minimum amount of hours. A 2 or 3 yr program doesn't let you get those hours.
Every school I have came across needs a minimum of a bachelor's to get into a masters engineering program, my school for instance needs to have at least a B average in your undergrad.
I'm not saying you are lying. I'm just telling you what I know since I am in the engineering field. Maybe try your luck and apply to those school's nilobrown applied to, you might have the same luck and get in. If you get in, take your masters, go back to naija and enjoy!. |

Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by kfrosh: 9:11pm On May 24, 2015 |
What am 100% sure of is that either B.Eng or HND , or B.Sc it holds same value if you are applying to schools in USA; dunno of Canada doh. And your transcripts go tru WES evaluation before it can be used officially . hayqinsbFX: okay sir then in this context a good grade in HND can be equivalent to that of a degree. is that what youre saying? |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 7 by kfrosh: 6:23pm On May 24, 2015 |
Bro; can someone who can be fully sponsored for a year hussle to sponsor himself tru the second year from your experience over there. Huzzie: Hi everyone, good to be back with my e-family...good work guys. See you all in Canada, we need people to absorb the cold abeg. Na spring we talk say we dey oooo, but person still gat check weather report everyday . Just an additional advise to the house for those who are not aware, It is advisable to pick a 2year dip/PGD for PGWP(Post-Graduate Work Permit) purpose.I have met so many Nigerians who did 2 unrelated programs because they did a 1year course and needed to do another one to make them eligible for the 3years PGWP. I want to assume we all know that to get a PR you need at least 1year work experience depending on the province of studies to qualify for the CEC(Canadian Experience Class). And for those coming for a masters program, duration of studies shouldn't be a major concern because getting a PR could be achieved through the PNP(Provincial Nominee Program). With this program you don't need work experience, you just need a certain amount to be in your bank account (about 11k or so). Why am I saying this? I have met people who came to Canada before me and didn't know jack about these things I just spill here. Some even argue about the authenticity of what I told them , but as a professional arguer I just gave them the links to allow them wallow in their ignorance. When you come into the Country, what you should do? Make findings about things before doing it, not necessary through the internet only. Ask people in a professional way without flaunting ignorance . Always follow the international office at your school for the latest; for example I got the information about PNP and US visa through the international center seminars, before then my Ghanaian friends told me I could only get the US visa if I lied I was going for a conference in the US. I applied and the got my US visa by telling them I wanted to go for shopping(N.B- my school is 30minutes drive to Buffalo, it may not always be the case for those whose school isn't close to the border).
I wish you all the best, but before I abscond again @oga siga, Justwise, Fhemmy et al....my respect. |

Not really true bro; People don't apply for Masters cos they didn't meet the minimum requirements of 2.1. Na who no like better thing mevisbleek: Good day Sir /madame, MSc is actually cheaper than most colleges that people apply to. I believe we Nigerians do not like due process, anything that follows due process will be termed "long thing". Masters application is part of that long thing while pgd application take like 1-2 or there about. People don't want to write Gre or gmat becos they feel say na long thing

Dude!!! Don't be naive about the process ; take time out to decide which schools you would like to apply to and shortlist them. Look up on Google to know more about them and their recquirements. Apply to those in which you meet their requirements. Its better you apply to both competitive and less competitive schools. Now don't dream of going to Canada this year cos that's outrightly impossible . Start working against Winter intake or summer and use that time out to read lots of pages backwards. Good luck.
