Hypocrite! Hypocrite! Hypocrite! Hypocrite! Hypocrite! Hypocrite! Hypocrite! A thing given willingly to someone without payment; is called gift. Now tell me how many of you will reject a gift? Sincerely we all know that to have a car in Nigeria today is not a luxury at all. That is a class, there is another class of people with international duties, people that set out thier calender yearly, they cant just do with the dictate of commercial flight. Hence the need to purchase a craft of thier own. These are the same men of God that paint the name of this country in good colour while our politicians drag it in the mud. See its about your vision in life, aim big, work hard towards it and you will be big. Keep that poor man sentiment of yours, and you will be the one to always criticise the successful. Hypocrite! |

Jonathan Pitroipa ’s MVP gong from the2013 Africa Cup of Nations will be little consolation for the Rennes winger, whose Burkina Faso side was defeated 1-0 by Nigeria in Sunday’s final. But even it should have found itself in the grasp of a Super Eagle, and there were two or three who would have been more worthy recipients than Pitroipa . This is not to take anythingaway from the 26-year-old, whose heroics in the quarterfinals against Togo helped ensurethe Stallions would continue galloping toward their first ever major final. Pitroipa was one of the best players in South Africathe past threeweeks, but in no way was he the best. That honor falls to Nigeria’s John Obi Mikel , and he should have been given the official recognition to confirm what everyone already knows. He should have been crowned Player of the Tournament. Mikel’s importance to Nigeria became evident as soon as manager Stephen Keshi named his roster for the competition. Keshi bravely omitted several establishmentplayers from the 23-man squad he tookto the Cup of Nations, including Yakubu, Peter Odemwingie , Obafemi Martins, Dickson Etuhu , Taye Taiwo and Danny Shittu . Instead, the team he selected was comprised of five domestic-based players and only two—goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and captain Joseph Yobo (who wasn’t a starting player)—with more than 50 caps to their names. Mikel, at 25, was immediately the elder statesman of the midfield, and he vindicated Keshi ’s daring by playing some of the best football of his life. |
The subject of ‘juju’ seems not to be far away from the Black Stars camp anytime theycome crushing out of major tournaments ala the AFCON 2012 in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, where then Ghana Coach, Goran Stevanovic ‘Plavi’ came out to confirm theuse of ‘black magic’ by some of his charges in camp. This time though in South Africa, it seems the ‘culprit’ was outside who managed to sneak past security to the Ghana dressing room and wason the verge of sprinkling theconcoction to do the ‘damage’ when he was allegedly caught and handed over to Tony Baffoe. Speaking on the issue, Black Stars team manager, Sabahn Quaye, who himself is no shrinking violet when it comesto matters of that nature sayshe believes the yet to be identified person cast a spell on the Ghana team, leading to the loss against the Burkina Faso during the semi final clash. Former Hearts of Oak stalwart, Sabahn says he believes in the existence of juju so as he put it, “anythingcould have happened.” He says investigations are ongoing but he will do his possible best to get to the bottom of the matter. |
