Since you men refuse to protect women from yourselves, women shall gang up as feminists and protect themselves until you men stop behaving like pigs.

You are seriously confused.

If your so high on women being equal to men why not encourage your sisters or your aunties to join the army arnd Air Force to cofront those boko criminals.
Why don't do tell women to go to bus parks and help in carrying heavy luggage and all that.

They are meant to compliment each other not clash or usurp one role for the other.

I have a strong distaste for performing ablution in most public mosques.

They are mostly plagued by the overpowering smell of urine.

The National Mosque of Abuja was an exception because of the adequate water supply.

Inability to flush the toilet is an epidemic problem in Nigeria but we Muslims should set an example in self hygiene.

And why do people love to spit out phlegm for others to see ? angry undecided

You are talking about the issues confronting the contending parties i.e. Oshiomole and Obaseki. I'm not talking about those.

See the point that I am driving at is that Oshiomole taught them all that they know politically today (according to him), just like he rightly informed us recently. He brought trade unionism into politics and showed them how to stand up against state powers. I am simply saying that the tools/weapons that he gave them are being used against him.

Do not forget that Obaseki and Shuaibu will not be sitting idly and waiting to be defeated. They have their own strategies too.

Cheers.

My oga before you finally go.
In all honesty, you missed the point Oshiomole was contextualising when he made that statement about teaching them, and he taught them NOT to lose election: and Oshiomole even went further to explain what he meant by teaching them them when he made references to how he delivered Edo north senatorial district (his catchment area)to APC and how he won his own area unit unlike Shauibu and Obaseki who lost their catchment area.
And we know even the so called "all powerful " siting governor could not deliver his own senatorial district in his first assignment to his party and you expect APC to trust him?
Even you wouldn't do that.
As they say,politics is local.

The piont is,Obaseki is biting more than what he can chew and I assure you if Oshiomole gets the backing of the government in power which I am almost sure he would, except something drastic happens then Obaseki's and Phillip's days are numbered in Edo state government house.

if you were not stupid you would know that is an old testament passage from the spoils of war that you quoted out of context

Pls do tell me since your unfortunate day of birth till date when you have heard of christians killing to advance the cause of christ like its done in islam

The world is battling with various terrorists and killers who are killing for islam.

The worst are the potential terrorists who are undergoing their indotrination on a daily basis.

Your boko haram peeps in your backyard are spreading the doctrines of Jesus abi?

Are the Old Testament not part of your bible?.
When you try to misquote certain verses from the Qur'ān without context and when we tell you that is not the way to interpret it you claim we are doing taqiyyah (some new words you learn from the shite thinking its Islām) ,but when we in turn. give you a dose of your own medicine you claim its old testament.
How convenient!

You can't take away the Old Testament from the new testament because even Jesus said in Mathew 5:17:
"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth not one not or tittle shall pass till all is fulfilled"

If your master,,"Lord" and "personal saviour" can say this I am wondering what your pastors or your Daddy GOs have to say about throwing away your old testament.

Or you don't believe in your Bible again?

Actually , when it comes to visions in the form of dreams, Muslims actually do see it. However I must warn that because you dream of something does not automatically make it a vision.

True dreams are a part of Prophethood, as it was reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “True dreams are one of the forty-six parts of Prophethood.”

(al-Bukhaari, 6472; Muslim, 4201)
Dreams marked the onset of Revelation

(al-Bukhaari, 3; Muslim, 231).
The truthfulness of the dream is related to the sincerity of the dreamer. Those who have the most truthful dreams are those who are the most truthful in speech.

(Muslim, 4200)
Towards the end of time, hardly any dreams will be untrue. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “That will be because the Prophethood and its effects will be so far away in time, so the believers will be given some compensation in the form of dreams which will bring them some good news or will help them to be patient and steadfast in their faith.”

(al-Bukhaari, 6499; Muslim, 4200)

https://www.google.com/amp/s/islamqa.info/amp/en/answers/6537

However there are injunction on interpreting dreams that requires very knowledgeable persons to interpret.

She said visions not dream oh

Dreams and visions are not the same thing oh.

If I am to be forced to believe that I am a Muslim before commenting on this then you people should stop bringing this to the front page. I have never seen such restrictions on a Christian thread. This country is a secular state for crying out loud, and this bias does not help the cause of the Muslims or in any way elevate them but rather it only makes them looks vulnerable and needs protecting.

The famous and popular line when Christians feel they are being denied their "Nigeria is a secular state."
It's all too familiar.
Do you go to army barrack without passing through any form of scrutiny?
If you don't like to go through the process without trying to force us to tow your line you can as well quit and moreover, this section has nothing to do with Christians.
Why do you people like poke nosing and when you are giving rules to follow you come with that lame and dry line that "Nigeria is secular state."

When you people were busy turning public places with Christmas decorations and Christmas trees you forgot Nigeria was a secular state but whje Muslims coughs you tell them Nigeria is a circular oops, sorry, secular state.
You people are so hypocritical that you don't want to acknowledge Nigeria is multi religious country, but you rather say it's a secular state so you can shut us up as it were.

I perceive that you did not really understand
what I was talking about.

For the avoidance of doubt I was talking not about the political backgrounds of any of them or their relevance for that matter.

Clearly I was talking about Oshiomole and his fight to end godfatherism in Edo state. I was talking about Oshiomole opening their eyes to the challenges of godfatherism and equipping them to fight.

Did I talk about Anenih having anything to do with Oshiomole becoming the governor of Edo state?

Where you not in Edo state when Oshiomole fought a bitter war against Tony Anenih? Where were you when Oshiomole said that he had effectively put an end to godfatherism seeing that he had taken control of Edo politics? Did you not hear Obaseki saying that the names of top government officials were written by Oshiomole and handed over to him? Did you not hear Obaseki say that his problem with Oshiomole centers on his greed as a godfather? Even today Obaseki said that he was out to end godfatherism in Edo state. Oshiomole taught them those things. Last month in december Oshiomole responding to an allegation by Shuaibu said that he did not teach them hold to lose elections. He said that Shuaibu was defeated even in his own polling center. He used the word "teach". That means truly that he taught them several lessons in politics and power play.

Where are the lies there please bro? Why not let your response remain within the points that I raised?

Now I will respond to your comment about Philip Shuaibu this way. How many politicians in this country were born with silver spoons? Someone gives them the chance to become relevant. Oshiomole did that. If Oshiomole has become overbearing can't they break away from him?

The problem sometimes is that we do not know when to say enough of the yoke. Kwara people started the "o to ge" and the godfather there was removed. Oshiomole said no more to godfatherism by himself and now his godsons are saying no more to him. That is what I am talking about and surely not taking sides with either party.

Your points are nothing less than pandering to popular thoughts with no substance.

Looking back at antecedentsm; it is clear Obaseki and Shaibu had no political wherewithal to get to the positions they occupy today.
It was Oshiomole who made them who they are today politically speaking.
Whether anyone agrees or not(I am repeating this point for emphasis sake)

Now let's talk about godfatherism.

It is a known fact that Obaseki suspended or should I say sack two ELECTED NOT APPOINTED OH.
Mark the word ELECTED local government chairmen because according to him: there were financial misapporiation by one of them and as for the other I can not tell what reason he(Obaseki) suspended or sacked an elected official for.

Imagine for a moment, if Buhari were to do something similar by sacking a governor simply because of one reason or the other, and I have no doubt in mind that you would or have been among those who have been condemning and still condemning him for being a tyrant, and you will raise more hell if he(Buhari) dared to differ what Obaseki did,but no, since he is Obaseki, he is fighting "godfatherism."

Another one of this no-godfather governor is "fighting " is his refusal to allows ELECTED NOT APPOINTED members of Edo state house of assembly to resume duty, instead he went and forced and also threaten 9 out of 24 members of the house of assembly in middle of the night or at night to legislate over the affairs of Edo state by issuing a phony proclamation simply because he was fighting godfatherism.
You did not see these ones and many more he would do(since he has being suspended people from his position as the governor).
And he is sin as fighting godfatherism?
SMH.

If Obaskei had any good intentions he would have accepted one of the reconcilation committee or panel set up to reconcile him and his former benefactor from this political impasse but no, he keeps on rejecting them like someone who is praying shooting.

See, let's not even go far, I know Oshiomole can be overbearing at times, but I won't fall for everything Obaseki and cohorts are vomiting just to make Oshiomole appear like the devil.
I won't because I am. objective and straight forward in my thinking

And it is still on record that no governor has done more work in Benin city and improved on our infrastructures especially roads in Edo state like Oshiomole.
No governor!
If you have one mention his name.
I know you might mention Ogbemudia and Ambrose Alli, but we are talking about in recent years.

To me, I like Obaseki's personality but he is doing things I never expected of him.
What I want him to do is he should try to reconcile with Oshiomole and let bygones be bygones and let Edo state move forward, but if anyone thinks he can bite the fingers that fed him, let him and those who support him be ready for a fight to finish.

Because the Oshimohole I know is seriously and busy strategizimg and I fear this might be the end for Obaseki's political sojourn and most especially Philip Shuaibu.
Just watch the space.

If you read my past comments, I advised Oshiomole to retire now that the ovation is very loud. So long as Oshiomole would play a role in deciding the delegates, Obaseki would have a herculean task getting the ticket. Say what you may about Oshiomole, he hardly lost battles in his professional life.

My submission is for Obaseki to placate the big bear in Edo politics, secure the ticket, win and retire him. This is how Oshiomole retired Anenih and Igbinedion Snr from Edo politics. So for you too, understand the game and play it because there is a limit to online thuggery.

I agree to an extent with what you have said, but comparing Oshiomole to Aninieh and Igebenedion Snr does not cut it for me. Oshiomole is different breed of politician.
Since his days as labour president we are yet to see is kind.
What Oshiomole brings to the table is entirely different and this is what I see.
As it is now, Obaseki seems to be having his way, but when the D day comes we shall know who has what it takes to go the distance.

What this politicians who just grab hold of power is that they don't stoop to conquer.
And I feel. this is going to be Obaseki's greatest undoing.

He has offended too many persons and those backing him don't really know what they are doing.

No one gives a crap about what this tyrrant says. The real bone of contention is what the islamist regime have planned for in the next general election. A lot of people will be shocked at what will happen in 2023.
Nigerians think Islamist fundamentalist like Buhari will hand over to a Southern Christian or any Southerner, but I tell you with all certainty that will never happen. Northern fundamentalist have NO PLAN of handing over power to the South!
Northern islamist fundamentalist live by Sharia and those living by sharia are charged to resist govt of infidels. If their koran sharia laws charged them to resist infidels, why will they hand over power to infidels?
It's for this reason buhari is facing out christians infidels from top govt agencies and replaced with muslims. Concentration of power in the hand of muslims is one of the tenets of sharia. Where do you thing islamist like buhari got the balls to remove a Christian CJN for a muslim CJN illegally? From sharia law. If someone like Buhari who live by strict tenets of Sharia, what makes you think he will hand over power to infidels? Handing over reigns of power to infidels in 2023 will amount to disobedience of the koran.
Muslims are charged to RESIST the rule of Infidels by all means. You thing boko haram was an accident? Boko haram was specifically created to Resist infidel govts - OBJ, GEJ.
If northerns could sink so low to create terrorist groups like boko haram that claimed thousands of lives just to take back power from infidels, what make you think these same northerners will hand over to Southern Nigeria in 2023?
Buhari will never hand over power to infidels.

Relax and see what will happen in the geographical deception called One-Nigeria.
NOTE; North regards Southern Christians and Muslims as Infidels.

Modified:
BTW, free and fair elections is dead! So anyone counting on buhari's islamist regime to conduct free and fair elections is just decieving his/her self.

If a girl should get married to a broke guy what of if he doesn't get rich, that's a life of poverty and also damming you children's future.

It's better to make it first, before thinking about marriage and women.

You would be surprised when you have made it women won't even be on your wishlist, there is more to life than women (there is games, movies, food and much more) you can also adopt kids if you feel lonely and can cater for them. And marriage is not for everyone.

lame argument.

You guys are just basing your argument on things which have no permanence.

Life itself is never and was never mean to be easy.
Family / Re: How Do Average Nigerian Couples Have More Than 2 Children? by Khaleell001(m): 10:23am On Dec 30, 2019
Gerrard59:

This is not true. China unlike India is being able to bulldoze her way economically partly due to her one-child policy as resources which would have been used to cater for extra 300 - 400 million mouths are used for the current population. The major reason China changed her one child policy is due to the female infanticide parents practice because they want a male child and this ensured a distorted population arose. To balance it, the government decided to change it and even at that, current Chinese parents aren't interested in procreating more than one due to rising costs and the pollution crisis China faces. Then again, you forgot to factor in the kind of leadership China has vs her poorer counterparts. You cannot compare the vision and focus minded leaders China has to India or Bangladesh.

First, part of Nigeria's problem is that there are too many mouths to feed with limited resources and even the major resource is threatened by innovative technologies and everyone having same resource. If the enabling environment is created and true federalism enacted, then, some people in Nigeria will die of hunger with the kind of leadership the country has. Instead of being reliant of having good leadership one day, how about individuals take their destiny into their hands by having the kids they can take care of? Regarding Japan, it is not just the population numbers one is looking at but also the quality. So because Japan needs people, you think Nigeria needs same? Does Nigeria have a similar government like Japan? Infrastructure? Wealth? Economy? Even with the declining population, she has the third largest economy in the world while Nigeria, who you want Japan to mimic or think she is mimicking is number one on the list of countries suffering from multidimensional poverty. Japan, Singapore, South Korea etc can afford to increase their populations at their current state not SSA countries that depend on foreign aid for their budget to balance or borrow from rich countries.

And how well has Nigeria been able to manage her resources and the population she has? Is not hypocritical that you expect a family that has five mouths to feed on an income of 100K to be a great manager than the one with two mouths to feed on the same income? It is the norm that countries with low populations but greater resources manage theirs better than those with high population but limited income. So your managerial skills is an exception world over. UAE vs Nigeria, Japan vs Indonesia, Turkey vs Bangladesh etc.

If you agree that life is a competition, then you would know that preparation is important in winning that competition and to prepare adequately, one needs adequate resources to cater for her contingents. Which is why rich countries tend to win more Olympic gold medals than poor countries. Remember, life is a competition. wink

Thanks for the fine details I must admit, but it does not also rule out what I feel can be done.
Using 100 k as a base for determining the number of kids one should have as if that is going to be permanent living wage does not cut it for me.

Who says the man can get a better out put or a better source of income?
and life is never about permanence.
If we were to judge China let's say 40 50 years ago we will never say they will be where they are today.
It's all about putting resources in place with the right attitude and policies.
You can't just say people should stop procreating because we have lazy leaders who can't think out of the box.

And one problem with one of your point is that you forget our problems are peculiar and requires a peculiar approach.
The down part for me in your analysis is Ywou are just basing you analysis on one out of many more possible out comes.

I have an uncle who has nothing less than nine children ,but not all of them went to school.
In fact, only three as at last count are graduates and they are doing relatively well while others are not doing that bad.

Whether your argument about limitation of bearing children is better for us or not what I know is,the factors that determine what we are; are too many just to base your argument on limitation of population growth alone
Saying we should cut down population is always a convenient excuse for people who don't want to put things in place..

The only time your argument will make sense to me is when policies are followed through and basic necessities are provided and things start working the way they should then I can blame our high birth rate as the problem.
As for now, tackle those issues first before talking about decerease in birth rate.

All those who argue about having less population or birth rate should go exterminate themselves first so we know we have minus one of the population.

Mr man, it has nothing to do with God. It is African backwardness and ignorance that makes us breed like rats. Children are still seen as indication of virility in men. Women are still treated as baby machines and valued by their childbearing capacity rather than their intellectual output. This is why Subsaharan Africa is by far the least productive, most backward region in the world. There is a strong correlation between poverty and low education and breeding rates. Our cultural failures and unproductivity is the reason Africans have more time than anyone else in the world to breed.

Your argument is still one sided.
If population was a bane rather than a boon China will not be bulldozing it's way past countries with lesser population the way it's doing.
And you know how they implementatend their one child policy only to later rescind that decision.
Nigeria's problem has not to do with is population bit it's policies and creating the enabling environment.
Even countries that were into having less population are now paying couples to give birth to more kids because they now see the advantage in it.
Japan an advanced nation is looking deeply into this and I think may have started or have already started encouraging its citizens to procreate more based on the skewed population ratio between the old and the young.

And again, who is talking about women's education or virility as it were. Even at that, it is just one or two metrics out of many metrics that determine the over all out put of a country humans and natural resources.

All in all, poverty is not really defined by the number of children one has,but how he manages and he is able to enhance his resources within his reach.

The crux of the matter is, if you like have no children, if you like have only one,it does not guarantee that you would be better than those with more.
We have too many life lessons to speak from and stop seeing life based on statistics and books alone there is more to it than taking meets the eye.

BOTTOM LINE :
Life is a competition and not everything is assured.

I know this my thread might get some people angry but it’s a subject that surprises me whenever I think of it. How do normal Nigerians who are educated have more than 2 children in a country like Nigeria with all the poverty & hopelessness? I am still single but I have it in mind to lay a ground rule that whichever woman I marry must agree to family planing methods after the birth of the 1st child whether male or female. And if the 1st baby is male, we can as well wait for another 5 years before having a baby of either sex as the last.

But I wonder when I see Nigerians that are not so wealthy giving birth to 4 - 5 kids in the midst of grinding economic depression and in a nation that has clearly failed. Don’t these Nigerians know that the country can descend into war anytime due to the instability that is so palpable? I get afraid when I see couples who have 4 children in this day & age so I always wonder how they are coping with the stress & the bills. I also wonder why they are not afraid of Nigeria.

That is why I don't take anyone serious who talks about child limitation or family planning as it were because these people are so myopic that they forget God gives and take.
You are planning life and you forget anything, anytime can happen under the will of the one who created life

Do you remember the woman whose Children were lost in the Sosoliso air clash in 2003 (I guess).
She was weeping so badly that she said if there was any way she could have babies again.
Imagine a woman with three kids in one the best schools in Abuja oh.

This is why I don't personally give a damn about whether economy is bad or good.
Have as much children you and be responsible for them.
And we forget that not everyone will be a graduate. Some will be good drivers, good businessmen and some will be good farmers.
And you don't know which will benefit you or forsake you.
Just be a good,caring father that's all

People should stop basing every success in life on education.
Dangote and Adenuga are not the most schooled yet they are making waves.
Even the late Alhaji Inu Umoru from Edo state the Co owner of Setraco construction company was not a graduate.

Life is so complex for one to see it from one lenses.

I know of many people who struggled initially with many children, but he was responsible and made sure they all did something with their lives and today this parents are being inundated with allsoet of gift everytime to the extent they now give out these goodies.
