I used to get annoyed when someone would mention that I was ignorant for not knowing something.

I thought ignorance meant I was ignoring information and I didn’t understand how. According to the dictionary, someone who is ignorant lacks knowledge or awareness, in general, is uneducated or unsophisticated. We can never know everything but the willingness to learn and acquire knowledge is the most important thing. Are you ignorant?

Here are acts of a completely ignorant person:

1. They believe they are always right and refuse other people’s opinions.

Because you constantly think you are right you cannot fathom learning from anyone else which makes you a fool. If you cannot learn from other people then you happen to be a waste of time since people will stop giving you their opinions.

2. Always deny criticism and refuse to be corrected.

When you are ignorant you tend to think that you are perfect. You refuse to be correctable hence living in a bubble. Criticism is the best way to be better and grow as a person from valuable people.

3. Confuse people’s opinions for being facts.

Not everyone’s opinion is right but it is just an opinion, if you refuse to respect people’s opinions then you will live in ignorance.

4. They always overgeneralize people.

All men are bad, everyone who wears heels is a slay queen and such things. You can say that most people you have met or heard of are a certain way but do not stereotype based on beliefs.

5. You defend politicians like they have your best interests at heart.

Some politicians are interesting and are great leaders, but you should never reach a sycophant level.

6. You get all your news from one single source.

Twitter cannot be your only source of news then you claim to be knowledgeable. You also cannot watch news from one single source and expect to know enough.

7. The last time you read a book was…never.

Watching news is never just enough you need to read and read vastly.

8. You can’t hold a rational conversation about anything.

Because you let your emotions get the best of you so you end up becoming irrational and looking ignorant.

9. You insult people based on their beliefs.

You cannot insult people based on what they believe in because that means you think your belief is superior. Everyone’s belief system is to be respected and you can only try to understand without mocking.

10. You vote for a political candidate based on their political party or tribe.

This doesn’t even need explaining, if you vote for people based on their political party or tribe then you are foolish.

11. You generally live in a bubble and can’t try new things.

You cannot try new meals or anything new simply because you are comfortable with your already monotonous life.
