Well, for me, i play a lot, try to catch my fun as much as i can. then when i'm exhausted from fun, i try to study. and if ma brain still ain't assimilating, i return to something else, movies, music, sleep, friends, fun, anything else but book! somehow, it all works out for me, thank God for that. But personally, i believe in work hards and play hard! that's the "google way" i believe :-)

I'm in EUL - European University of Lefke. I don't thin you would have any problems with courses, the systems here are quite flexible. you will just start with courses for the semester you entered at, simple! Like me, when i came to lefke, i used my diploma from uniben and cos of the exemption of courses, i ended up taking two 1st yr courses, two 2nd yr courses and one 3rd yr course during my first semester. i found it fun cos on every first semester of each session, i was having classes with my mates and my seniors, lol it was cool

@Eghost247: yea, thanks for your input as well. I have no idea why people would choose to be "dependent", so to speak. i'd right know things for myself and be sure than have people do them for me. i remember a friend that wrote SAT once, she didn't even know what schools was applying to, nor did she know the courses she applied for, they did everything for her and she just went to write! that was 5yrs ago, people still everything to be done for them! na wa! like that guy that has been bugging me here about admission! can you imagine i had left the school and he was still asking me to do admission for him, even after i gave him the contacts of person IN CHARGE of admission, lol

@Chinois: i just had my first class today. more like a discussion. better than undergraduate classes. but classes are mostly at night (6pm to 9pm) while others are morning from 9am to 12pm, like today's class. i course each day, 5 courses for those doing masters without thesis, 4 for those doing with thesis. its good as its at nights cos you have the whole day to yourself. you can work if you want.

people keep saying the schools are not recognized from north cyprus, there is a big misconception about this!!! Northern Cyprus itself is not recognized as a country, we all know that, but that doesn't mean that the schools aren't!!!

Here's the deal, after graduation from any school in north cyprus, you MUST take your degree to the YOK organization (like ministry of education) in Turkey for their attestation. WITHOUT YOK attesting your degree IT WILL NOT BE RECOGNIZED ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! So for your degree to be recongnized anywhere in the world, you have to send it to YOK to sign it and all.

But many nigerians think that it's only the turkish students that need to take their degree to YOK and they leave the island without accreditation! you know that even your SSCE will not be recognized outside without ministry of education and ministry of foreign affairs signing them, so what makes people think their degrees will be recognized outside without the ministry of education in charge of north cyprus signing their degrees it doesnt work!

i just graduated last just and my fellow students told me "there is no need to go to YOK, it's only turkish students that do that and since you're not going to use your degree in turkey, you don't need it" that was the advice i was give. they told me that oh, so and so person graduated last year and he didnt take his to YOK!

well, i don't listen to side talks usually, so i went to the international office to enquire and i was told that without YOK signing my degree, it's just as good as a worthless piece of paper, so EVERYONE has to go to YOK with their degree!

so its good to get your information from reliable sources, people!!!

as for difference between north and south, we all have different aims in life. me, i'm here to STUDY and NOT to hustle or find better life or find greener pastures. i've been to UK twice and returned. others in my shoes WILL NOT RETURN the first time! i'm not looking to go to the south. i've been here 4 and half years and it's been touch as my parents are not rich, but i still get by (Thank God) one way or another. i've worked only 3 times on this island: once for 3months (my first summer here), one for 1 week and the last was just recently for 2months. i don't get pocket money, though i'm into computers and websites (that's where i make my change) so its possible to get by. there are people who support themselves here in north cyprus and are not working.

so if you are looking for greener pastures or something, or just wanting to leave nigeria and go elsewhere, NORTH CYPRUS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. though people use it to facilitate their "escape" as it is easy to get visas from here. people are getting visas like it's free! there was a time it felt like the Uk embassy was doing visa bonanza, lol!

anyways, before coming, make proper research guided by your reason for coming here, that's my advice! :-)

yea. some people still think you need to "sort" someone or "block" somewhere. imagine someone paying up to 250k for visa to north cyprus. in my time, visa application fee was 2,600 naira if i remember correctly!

as eghost247 has said, contact the school, especially the international office, they will guide you through every step from application until you land the island. they are always very helpful, doesn't matter the school.

its best you communicate with them, cos that way, there would be no middle man and you'd get first hand information.

my recommendations, if you have money, go to EMU or METU. if you don't have money like that, go to EUL. the schools i know that are GOOD are EMU, METU and EUL. the others, i don't know much. NEU is good too.

cos i dont see many nigerians settled here. there are, but just a few. its not like uk. perhaps you should visit first then see things first hand.

hahahahahahahahahah please let me laugh a while. mehn, that's prison na, what kinda restrictions are all those it's not like that here oh, its opposite of everything you've said. you only need your passport to do stuffs like bank, sim card, etc. house, no one cares so long as you're paying, same as work, so long as you're working, no one cares if your visa expires or not. here, there's not visa, just resident permit. and you still have no problems once its expired, as long as you're not leaving the country. if you 're leaving the country, you might have problems if ur permit is expired, and you'd need another visa to reutrn (normally oh). i dont know of any case where a persone was banned from returning here. flights is $1000+ (i said this before). there's no minimum wage here. average wage is like 15/20/25 to 40 lira a day, depending on where and what you do. some make up to 70 lira daily. if you have work permit, you can make up to 100, 200lira daily (building construction). based on your questions, north cyprus may not be the best place. i dont know about investing here, but i think there are rules for doing "business" here

u cant get an office job here without a degree, and its difficult for foreigners here to get office jobs, so to speak. it all depends on who you know. even with degree, their people are still complaining of no jobs.

as for unskilled, construction, farm, gardening, restaurant, etc. pay is good but work hours are long. there are no shifts like morning shift or night shift, there usually aren't shifts.

apartments range from $1000 to $5000 per head per year, depending on where and what it has. unlike nigeria, aparments, rooms, accommodations here all have stuff in them, beds, fridge, tv, washing machine, internet, etc. not all have everything. as i said, depends on what it has and where.

freedoms of restrictions not sure what you're talking about. i dont know how much "freedom" you expect as a foreigner in another man's land. some nigerians come here wanting to be treated above the people that live here, i dont know what kinda expectations that is, i mean, come on!!!

what is a "documentation country"

nigeria to cyprus is about $1000 and above. sometimes less. visa is cheap and easy to get once you have the right docs, admission letter, or invitation later or whatever. if you're thinking of coming to settle here for real, you'd need to make serious plans. not many people do so, unless you have a company ready to take care of all necessary documentation (like teachers in universities, or specialists in certain companies, etc. those ones, they will get your work permit and resident permit, etc)

yes, you can. as for migration, i dont know. perhaps i'm not the best person to ask about all this, and i dont know who you should ask.

migrating here, fine if you're british. but for anyone else, its possible but i'm not sure what it entails. I'm looking at settling here. right now, my just is without security. unless the company that hires you really values you enough to get you work permit and resident permit, it might be difficult to settle here with a good job.

i dont know what number you've been calling, but no answer is not possible, so check the number that you're calling the right number. the school is ok. small place, like 3k students. its not the smallest school though in terms of infrastructure. environment is ok. staff are good, nice people. you might have problem with some non-academic staff that dont speak much english, but still the place is nice, best 4yrs of my life.

dorm is not bad. i miss dorm days. it was loads of fun back then, but things have changed somehow these days. maybe its the people. i don stay in the dorms anymore. dorm or off camp is your choice but its advicable to stay in the dorms at least 1 semester to see if you'd like it or not.

i dont know about the post graduate courses as i just applied myself. all i know is that masters classes is weekends and/or at nights. i know mba is weekends at nights, others is just nights or so, still no clear on that.

upkeep is up to you. i spend from 100lira to 250 lira a month, that's about 10k to 25k naira. some spend up to 500lira (50k). so its up to you. this includes water and electricity bills and feeding, etc.

in the dorms, water is free though not drinkable. u have to buy drinking water. electricity is free.

there are cafes in school with good food, same price like mr biggs and co in ngieria. theres now free internet for those in the dorms. all cafes in school have free interet as well.

yes, one can transfer credit from anywhere to any school here, as long as you have a valid transcript and course descriptions, but usually only one transcript can be used for transfer.

as for moderate universities (there are like no colleges in NC), my former school, European University of Lefke, is still arguably the cheapest school in NC at the moment (has been for 4/5yrs now).

go to their website at www.eul.edu.tr and look for their international office page. get EMINE's phone number or email and communicate with her directly, she's in charge of international students admissions. any other questions about the school, fees, scholarships, etc, ask her.
