FashionHow Do You Pick The Hottest Dress? by kheme(op): 11:29pm On Jan 07, 2011
i was in a conversation with a friend about a party he attended where they had to select the hottest dress from the crowd. there were disputes here and there, but really, how can you pick ONE dress as being the absolute HOTTESThuh cos i think a lot of things apply. hottest or sexiest dress doesn't mean hottest/sexiest WOMAN, it's the dress they're concerned about. any ideas?? how can you pick out the HOTTEST dress in a party? any criteria??

WebmastersRe: How Much Do I Pay My Middlemen? by kheme(op): 1:19pm On Dec 27, 2010
no, you're on the right track. the first guy got the job for the second guy. the payments come through the first guy. the second guy gave me the job as he knows nothing about websites. so, the first guy doesn't really do much. and the second guy, well, we sometimes talk to the client on my behalf. so that's about the work they do. but i guess i have to know exactly how much i'd be getting first to decide. thanks for your input anyways.

WebmastersTough Sql Question: Please Help! by kheme(op): 9:51pm On Dec 25, 2010
i have a tough SQL challenge and i need help guys. actually, there are two challenges:

#1: i want to find the max of a sum of number. that is, SELECT MAX(SUM(marks)) from TABLE;
i want to get a sum of numbers, but the sums are different for different sets, so i want to get the maximum sum. please refer below:

Name Marks
-------------------
user1 11
user1 10
user2 100
user1 9
user2 0
user2 89

so, SELECT SUM(`marks`) from `table` GROUP BY `name` > the total for each user. NOW, how do i get the maximum of this number (the sum) like belowhuh

Name Sum Max
-------------------
user1 30 189
user2 189 189

#2: i want to find the "sub sum" of numbers. let me modify the table above to further explain:

Name Marks Exam
---------------------------
user1 11 1
user1 10 3
user2 100 3
user1 9 1
user2 0 3
user2 89 1

what i want now, is to find the total per student, per exam like below:

Name Sum Exam
-------------------------
user1 20 1
user1 19 3
user2 89 3
user2 100 3

any ideas guyshuh
WebmastersRe: How Much Do I Pay My Middlemen? by kheme(op): 9:28pm On Dec 25, 2010
so what percentage would you give em if you were in my case? cos i can't think of anything and they won't suggest anything. i was going to give 15% each, what you think?
WebmastersRe: How Much Do I Pay My Middlemen? by kheme(op): 8:04pm On Dec 25, 2010
yawa-ti-de, thanks for your input. but i'm in a situation where i didn't consider all that, as i told one of the middlemen before. so how do i settle them without consider them and the work to be donehuh
WebmastersHow Much Do I Pay My Middlemen? by kheme(op): 5:12pm On Dec 23, 2010
I'm a small time, freelance website developer and i have a few people getting jobs for me. a problem i have not been able to solve is HOW MUCH DO I PAY MY MIDDLEMENhuh

what is a good and acceptable percentage? %15? %20? %25? and what if there are more than onehuh like right now, have 2 middle men, how do i pay them both?

so what is an acceptable percentage for a freelance website developer to pay for getting a job?

RomanceRe: What Strengthens A Long Distance Relationship by kheme(m): 2:16am On Nov 15, 2010
well, here's my take on the matter,

what strengthens a normal relationship (short distance, if you like) are the same things that strengthen a long distance relationship. But just as all fingers are not equal, it still all depends on the people involved.

in a normal relationship, for some, sex strengthens it, or money or just romance, stuff, attention, etc, it could be anything. when two people come together, i'm sure there's something they both want/need from each other. and so long as that need/want is being met, the relationship continues. that being said, not all relationships are meant to work. it's sad but its true.

but i believe the thread is asking about what strengthens a distance relationship so this means the relationship is already working, but might need to be strengthened. so from experience, even from the replies on this thread, communication is important, amongst many other things.
ProgrammingRe: Programmers Are Good In Mathematics by kheme(op): 12:02am On Nov 15, 2010
so, it's safe to say that "Programmers are good in mathematics" is not a general phrase? or in other words, not ALL programmers are good in mathematics, yes?!? huh

Cos there are different levels of programming, it could be java, C++, J#, 8086/8085 assembly language, it could be programming a web page or a water tank, or a robotic arm or a car, or a mobile phone or a traffic light system or virus removal tool or network packet sniffer or even a simple plain text editor, all of which i do whilst NOT being good in mathematics and do not ALL require "mathematics" but rather more of logic, no??

and by mathematics, i do not mean arithmetics!!! i mean calculus, cylindrical coordinates, integrations, gama and beta functions, advance derivatives, legendre functions, 3-d coordinate systems, bessel functions, and the like of those crazy things, tongue

@fallguy: this forum was made possible by PHP (web programming), or would you call that code writinghuh it doesn't require "mathematics" though might require some "arithmetics". or am i wrong or am i missing something here guys??

@Gsmxpert: what kind of maths do you require? i know "engineers" may require the maths and the complex forumlars, but if i'm not mistaking here, isn't it after the engineers have solved their maths that the programmers come the teach the machines how to solve these complex maths (programming)huh i mean, i still don't know the almighty formula off the tip of my tongue, but written programs with it in different languages, in other words, i can teach the stupid (GIGO) machine how to solve complex maths using almighty formula for whatever reason the engineer needs it. en/decryption algorithms have a logic behind them, no?? and you need computers to realize this, no?? i've written programs for network en/decryption before, still didn't require much maths ON MY SIDE. or am i getting it wrong here Gsmxpert?? huh

So though with limited or lack of in-dept knowledge of everything, in my opinion, code writers or programmers (whether high level or low level), the phrase in question here cannot be generalized grin

Have i missed something or, are there other opinions out therehuh

TravelRe: South Africa Vs North Cyprus by kheme(m): 11:58pm On Nov 10, 2010
Well btluv,

i've been in North Cyprus since march 2006 and so far, i can say the following:

1. It's a quite friendly place and the people here are some of the nicest people i know :-)
2. As for job opportunities, getting a job here is quite difficult, though if you have connections as usual, it would help. But the hours are long and the pay is just ok if you're working full time. but if you want to work and school at the same time, it's going to be difficult.
3. cost of living, i'd say is ok too. at least, for me. compared to Nigeria, certain items re pretty much about the same price after conversion.

Putting it all together, if you're looking for where to hustle while schooling, North Cyprus MIGHT not be the best place for you. as for SA, i have no idea about that place.

I'd advice you do a little more research on each place. Also, may i suggest this thread for you about nigerians living in cyprus

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-24054.0.html

i hope all this helps :-)
TravelRe: Nigerians Living In Cyprus by kheme(m): 11:51pm On Nov 10, 2010
It would surely be a great idea.
So what else do you think i should add besides what i've mentioned so far? what would make it very useful??
ProgrammingProgrammers Are Good In Mathematics by kheme(op): 11:34pm On Nov 10, 2010
So, this question has been bothering me for a while now. i don't know if you guys have heard this saying that programmers are good in mathematics, have youhuh

So i'm an "okay" programmer and i do quite well for myself, but i hate maths and i must confess i'm terrible at it (at least so far). So if programmers are good at maths, how can i be so good a programmer and be terrible at mathshuh and frankly, i do not really see the correlation here.

So what's your take on this guyshuh
TravelRe: Nigerians Living In Cyprus by kheme(m): 10:58pm On Nov 04, 2010
So after looking at this thread, an idea just popped into my head. It's not a new idea, but now i think there might be need for me to do this proper!?!

What do you guys think about this, what if i made a website specifically for students looking to study in Northern Cyprushuh I can put sections like reviews of the schools, tuition comparisons, interviews from students from each schools, their accreditations and other useful information like cost of living, job situations, accommodations, settling down, other procedures, etc.

do you guys think this would be a good ideahuh
