ok. I am woefullly behind on coursework. I am due to go to a family reunion next week. I wonder if Nigerians have those. I would call out friends of the forum, last I did that, I got put in time out for spamming. When is your family reunion, I hope you have a good time? My family reunion is in July in Montgomery Alabama and I'm excited. |

Mobilia: Good morning Hiawatha1981, Sister, I read this this morning and would like to say a few things if necessary. Because this situation occurred publicly, I feel compelled to address it as so...and then I will gladly leave the subject alone. First off, I'm sorry that you had a "time-off".... I've had many of those too....and have questioned why, since I had not violated any of the rules. But since the situation between me and you occurred, it would be especially easy to "blame" me. I seem to be the easy choice. But you would be absolutely wrong to think so. This is where....my faith comes in. Whomever did it...knows why it was done.. It actually could've been the "anti-spam bot"... Sister...I have to honestly say that I may go and vent through my diary or postings, but if I do anything, I let it be known. I have never (in my 16-17) months of being a member here, reported anyone on this site.. So I'd like that to be known. I see that you "unfollowed" me...which is definitely your choice. I've even asked people to "unfollow" me on numerous occasions....and interestingly enough only (1) person has ever done so. I still would like to invite any of my followers to please "unfollow" me....if you feel as if "following" me is detrimental to you. But honestly, this small disagreement could've been handled a lot differently behind the scenes. As you have "pm-ed" others, you and I could've done so with each other to sort this out. But obviously you nor me were willing to. You are an American whom I was getting to know...slowly. I saw something unusual that evening which I questioned you about. I was extremely confused...and so I asked. I didn't hide it at all. I even wrote a "now deleted" message that stated if I was wrong, I would humbly apologize. I don't know you from Adam...but I was cautiously trying to...after over a month of you "following" me and me not having even said a word to you. I hate division....but I also know it takes "two" to decide to have unity. Honestly, this looks bad to have a disagreement on a foreign website...between two foreigners. As much as people may think otherwise, I don't desire the spotlight..... I am just "me"... faults and all. Those that "know" me on here have seen it all....every emotion. Sorry, but I don't know how to "pretend" on a "face-less" forum... I don't know how to have a fake persona....and live a fake life... That would be extremely difficult for me to do since that's not my nature. Every interaction I had with you on here was real and genuine... You have absolutely every right to choose who you call "friends" on here, but try to not to forget the "folks" on the bottom on your way to the "top".. "Friends" would've encouraged you to sort things out with other "friends". "Friends" don't rejoice when they see others in a disagreement. It's easy to call folks "friends" without testing a relationship to see if people are worthy of that title. Be careful how you use that term.... It was I, who introduced you to this "Foreigners" thread...and was genuinely trying to get to know a fellow American in a strange land called....Nairaland. I extended an olive branch by even saying that we could perhaps get in touch since you said you had folk down in the city where I formally lived. I thought that was so unique. Clearly, you weren't really interested though. Only you know why you didn't actually want to reach out. But I have no problem stepping back and allowing you to introduce new people into the thread....since I have absolutely no problem being in the background and I know that you may be at a different stage of life. You have a group of people to rally around you... But I will tell you this: I have learned a whole lot in my 40 and 1/2 years on this planet and I know that sincere and genuine people are rare to come by. Be blessed as you continue your journey on N.L...and I sincerely hope that you find what you are looking for... Miss Mo.bilia. Mobilia I don't know what happened between the two of you but I can guarantee you that it's not this serious, just brush your collar off and move on, nobody is that important on Nairaland except for Alezy of course. Just kidding. Stay blessed. |

ForeignAgent: I prefer Sam J. He has this unique ability to dominate the screen. No matter who else shares screentime with him, it will always be Sam J's performance that sticks in your head.
Denzel Washington is a great actor too. But he's always been more like a "pretty boy" actor throughout his career, even now that he is in his 50s. The both of them are excellent actors but I have to go with Denzel in the movie *Training Day* "King Kong ain't got nothin on me," by the way Denzel is in his sixty's, the man is still fiiiiiine. |

hiawathia1981: Martino and other yorubas. My guy is one of them also. He doesnt like hey, but will say "sup" to me. I tell him that sup= hey. I don tire for telling him that. Yeah, "Hey" "Sup" "How far" the "Head Nod" have all the same meaning. Some people get offended by the greeting of "Hey" saying "Hey" is for horses and they are not horses. |

hiawathia1981: Well, I fail to see what the commotion you caused is about. You answered the question coming from your own perspective. The title didnt say, "Can Nigerian women..... But I guess you must now start your posts with, " As an American... just to avoid any unnecessary beef. Although you will probably be later accused as bragging. They are accusing me of bragging when all I was doing is giving an example of how all women aren't financially depended on men and some of us look deeper than their coins, but hey, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. How have you been? |

AreaFada2: Until the next economic crisis cycle and houses are foreclosed. Like all those foreclosed homes in Detroit, across Michigan and beyond. George Soros never fails with his bets & banking fat cats never fail to behave like greedy fat cats. I have no worries, you don't know my yearly income which includes my job salary, plus reparations. My savings are good. Detroit has nothing to do with me. |

cruchenutii: I'm not an idiot, of course I factored in that It's only by using credit system that you could achieve that. That is the only logical explanation you can give. See this below:
So you should have stated it (your region) in your initial post.
So Madame, your house isn't yours until its paid off. 30 years even so your house isn't paid off yet? Then its not yours. Once you stop working or get Fired or income stops coming. You know the Drill right?
How many people living in America even have an excellent credit, lets start with that? In my original post I stated that I do not need a man financially because I can take care of myself, you seem to have a problem with that comment, I also said that I needed my man for companionship, love, and protection and not his money but you bypassed that. The only thing that you could focus on is the fact that I have been blessed to be able to provide for myself and I have worked hard to purchase a home for myself which you seem to have a problem with. Why is that? You guys are always complaining about women wanting you for your money *Golddiggers* but when a woman tells you that she doesn't need you *financially* you have a problem with that as well. I am a single woman so it's only natural that I take care of myself but when I am no longer single of course, my man and I will bring our finances together and build on that. |

Netanyahu1: As far as Nigerians are concerned, you don't own a house unless you have paid it off .You might want rewrite your post I didn't purchase my home to please Nigerians so I will not rewrite anything. More people could own their own homes besides entertainers, the wealthy, and drug dealers in Nigeria if everyone had an even slate. Nigeria should try adopting American policy for homeownership and make it affordable for everyone. |

cruchenutii: Hmmmm Nice Claim. You purchased your own home? Not built. A house which has a Garden at the back should cost like ₦35 million OR more in Lagos Mainland. On the Island makes it ₦100+ million. In Banana Island makes it ₦1+ Billion.
Oh wait, you have a Truck? Sounds like you aren't living in Nigeria. Well maybe I might believe you.
Even Linda Ikeji is not her Twenties. Every woman I know that achieved this feat on their own is not their Twenties except you are an Athlete or Entertainer or Pushing Drugs.
It would have been better If you simply stated you are from a very Wealthy home. That is understandable.
Social Media is always a place to lie. Your ignorance is astounding. I have to be wealthy, or a drug pusher to purchase my home? I am American our way of life is different than yours in Nigeria. Steps to purchasing a home in America. 1. Save up enough money for a down payment on the house not the total cost of the house. 2. Have excellent credit. 3. Hire a realtor, give him/her the details of the house you are searching for 4. The realtor will take you to view the homes that meet your desire 5. When you find your dream home the house will go under inspection. 6. If everything is ok with the house the realtor will make an offer to the bank for you. 7. When the agreement is made, you will pay the down payment on the house, this is the money you have saved up. 8. The house is yours, almost. 9. Thirty years of monthly payments on the mortgage until it's paid off. 10. Make yearly payments of property taxes. 11. You don't have to take 30 years to pay off your home but that is how long the bank gives you. 12. In case you are wondering, some people build their own homes because it's cheaper but it takes a lot of upfront money. Next time ask instead of accusing someone of being a liar. |
