HAH: Mugabe is the only President Zimbabwe had since its independence, so with him certainly they have realized the mistake in their Constitution and I believe after Mugabe there will be amendments There should be amendment of the Constitution if the country is sure that they want to practice democracy. For now, they are either practicing a monarchical form of government or dictatorship. Period! |

HAH: the Zimbabwe's constitution have no term limits for elected officials, Mugabe always win the election because the poor electorate are with him since he collected valuable farming land from whites and redistributed it to them, the white hitherto owned 80% of arable land in Zimbabwe and they are less than 5% at independence and now only 1% of Zimbabwe are whites.
On the issues of sacking VP, not all democracies are like that of Nigeria or the USA where the president and VP are running mates, in many countries VP are actually appointed like a minister and can be sacked by the president at will
Hope I made some points Good points. I actually learnt afterwards that a Vice President in Zimbabwe is appointed by the President. He can also sack him at will. But if indeed the country is running a true democracy, why should the Constitution allow a President to have unlimited terms, considering the powers of an incumbent to manipulate elections in his favour? In my view, Zimbabawe is yet to adopt a real democratic system of government. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Robert Mugabe Attends Graduation Ceremony At Open University Amid Army Takeover by Kiakia(m): 4:45pm On Nov 17, 2017 |
Dauraking: Read below. This is an interesting Conspiracy Theory behind what’s currently happening in Zimbabwe. This is important since it’s reported that Mr. Mugabe went for a graduation ceremony today. This was a man reported to have been deposed and on house arrest.
Here is the Conspiracy Theory:
A few weeks ago President Robert Mugabe called his Vice Emmerson Mnangagwa and the army chief, General Chiwenga to a secret meeting at State House while his wife, Grace Mugabe, was out of the country shopping. He complained about how Grace was pushing him to an early death. He confidentially told them that he had been trying to get rid of her, but did not know how. “She has been pushing me too hard. I had wanted to retire in 2008”, he lamented.
Vice President Emerson Mnangagwa and the General told him they had a plan. He should fire Emerson. The army would then move in. Grace would flee, and Emerson would come back to be reappointed. President Robert Mugabe would then resign, be given immunity from prosecution, a nice pension, security and all the perks of a former President. As the imperialists gloat and have gin and tonic, President Mugabe would have the last laugh.
In one brilliant move, Mugabe has gotten rid of Grace, retires gracefully and lives happily ever after never to see or hear from her again, nor the imperialists! Nice story, but no proof. Simply an imagination of the writer. |

Say no to military rule, Africa is now matured enough for democracy, as the worst democracy is better than the best military rule. What type of democracy allows a President to rule 'forever'? What type of democracy allows a President to sack his Vice without recourse to democratic tenets? What type of democracy is Zimbabwe practicing sef? All in all, there is no democracy in Zimbabwe. Live with that! |
Politics › Re: Governor Ayade Working For APC, Party Chieftains, Lawmakers Allege by Kiakia(m): 6:00pm On Nov 12, 2017 |
Danny287: Some chieftains and members of the Cross River State House Assembly of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have accused Governor Ben Ayade of working covertly for the All Progressives Congress (APC), and is responsible for the decamping of notable members of the ruling party in the State to the APC.
The PDP stakeholders also accused the governor of awarding contracts to known APC members to the exclusion of PDP faithful.
“It does appear that there is a deliberate and dedicated effort to ensure that the PDP in Cross River State is substantially weakened and reduced to a platform incapable of any significant impact on political fortunes of our State,” the petition read.
The allegations are contained in a petition to the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, received on October 20, 2017 at the national headquarters of the party and signed by a former deputy governor, Efiok Cobham, former Majority Leader of the state assembly, Hon. Tom Agi, one-time special adviser on public transport, Edem Ekong, former Attorney General, Attah Ochinke and nine members of the state assembly.
“In a manner that has confounded all party members, HE, The Governor has on several occasions, openly expressed his support for the APC and even admitted that he has been funding the APC in the State. Indeed, and as if to confirm the foregoing, the only contracts awarded in the state are to members of the APC,” the petition reads in part.
The petitioners cited examples of Ayade’s empowerment of the APC to include; “the Boki link Road, a project with a contract value of over N4billion, was awarded to a chieftain of the APC, and 80% of the contract sum paid upfront;
“The Governor’s very first contract upon assumption of office, was for supply of Refuse Collection Bins. This contract was infamously awarded to another chieftain of the APC from the Governor’s Local Government Area;
“The Present State Woman Leader of the PDP, was the flag bearer of Labour Party in the 2015 general elections into the State House of Assembly. While still a Labour Party member, she was nominated by a chieftain of the APC and appointed by the Governor to serve as the PDP State Woman Leader! She has never bothered to decamp from Labour Party and has maintained her dual membership of the parties till date,” the petitioners wrote.
When contacted, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Ita, promised to call back on the issues raised but he never did, while other attempts to reach him failed.
https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/thewhistler.ng/amp/story/gov-ayade-working-apc-party-chieftains-lawmakers-allege/ He is not alone. Umahi of Ebonyi State is also an APC man masquerading as a member of PDP. These men should have the balls to declare for APC. |

Abagworo: There was no road there. Okorocha started and completed it and nothing was wrong with both ends. The Orlu road end is bad because of the 8 lane which made them leave it unpaved at the junction. You are absolutely wrong. Do not twist facts to favour your arguement. Road existed there previously up to that mechanic area, but Governor Okorocha proceeded from there and completed the road. Both ends were also bad prior to it's naming after the Liberian President and commissioning thereafter. It is possible that the Rapour junction end of that road will be washed away by the first rain of the season because tar was simply poured on red mud to make it look fine. |

Are we so used to their inefficiency that a little efficient thing they do is like a icing on a cake?
If all or most of the things he has done cannot stand the test of time then......Kudos to him anyways! Is it part of the duty of one Governor Okorocha to use state funds to run his personal business? Is it also part of his duty to waste money that would have been chanelled into worthy ventures to erect meaningless and unsolicited statue of foreign dignitaries? Nigeria is a joke. |
Politics › Re: Aregbesola Commissions St. Augustine’s Government Elementary School, Ipetumodu by Kiakia(m): 6:29pm On Nov 09, 2017 |
And this cost the government N94 million? Unbelievable! The era of inflation of contracts is still with various state governments. Howbeit, it is better than investing state resources in erecting useless and worthless statues. The sum of N520 million used by one drunken governor in the south east to erect a single statue would have fetched about ten of these schools built by Aregbesola. The N600 million used by that accursed governor to mount meaningless christmas tree every year in the state capital would have cleared substantial amount of pensioner's arrears, or even workers salary. Presently, bounced cheques is the fate of pensioners in that state. Today, another statue will be unveiled! And another one also in December if information emanating from the grapevine is to be believed. Is the federal government powerless to call that man to order? Why should state funds be used to service personal investments of a governor? Ayam not understanding! |
