Dear all, It has been brought to our attention that certain individuals who claim to be members of the Buccaneers Confraternity or who were allegedly "kidnapped" by people claiming to be Buccaneers are currently in Police custody after they were arrested with firearms in their possession. First, we want to commend the Police for their work in arresting these individuals. Secondly, we call on the Police to make sure that they are prosecuted to the full extent of the Law. Furthermore please be aware that the individuals, Damilola Adeyemi and Ibrahim Oyelakin are not, have never been, and will never be members of the Buccaneers Confraternity. They are two of the many imposters among the public parading themselves as members of our organization and engaging in the extortion of unsuspecting members of the public with promises of admitting them into an organization that they themselves are not members of. We are aware that many miscreants and irresponsible individuals parade themselves as our members and take the opportunity to lure and extort money from other individuals with promises of making them members of our organization. For the avoidance of doubt, admission into Confraternity is not carried out by students on campus or by any one individual or group of individuals purporting to represent us. Beware of such imposters. We have a centralized admission procedure which can be found on our website. Information for admission into our organization can only be obtained by contacting and receiving a response from the webmaster at www.alorasealords.com or by visiting us on Facebook at our official page at Buccaneers Confraternity and communicating with the Administrators. We advise that if anyone tells you that he can either admit you into our organization or facilitate your admission, you check with us by visiting our website at www.alorasealords.com or by contacting us through Facebook. We also advise any person or group of persons in any tertiary institution who parade themselves as our admission officers to desist from doing so forthwith as we will continue to partner with Law Enforcement Agencies to crack down on Imposters. We remain proud of our organization. We will not be deterred by the continued attempt by some to tarnish our image. We will continue to focus on our noble humanitarian efforts in alleviating the plight of the less privileged, donating money and support to very many causes of charity across the globe where we find ourselves. We will continue to mold fine gentlemen, instilling in them the virtues of good citizenship and the value of hardwork. We will continue to remain a brotherhood where membership spreads across tribes and tongues. A brotherhood which is a model for a peaceful society where individuals of diverse backgrounds coexist peacefully while pursuing the same noble objectives. All members of the Buccaneers Confraternity should continue to go about their daily affairs and as always remain law abiding and model citizens. Grand Eye Buccaneers Confraternity |
Zeta Galleon Centre For Leadership has expressed its sincere commitment to continue to provide support for the Nigerian military battling terrorism and insurgency in the North-east region as it commenced preparations for this year’s programme known as ‘Support Our Troops Against Terrorism (SOTAT) rally to be held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on December 11. The group which is a branch of Brothers Across Nigeria (BAN) has tagged this year’s event ‘Support For The Wounded Warriors’ to shore up love, support and prayers for the military in the daunting task of defeating the Boko Haram terrorists. Speaking with journalists on Thursday in Port Harcourt, the group’s Secretary Mr. Ken Agala, said this year’s event would feature visitation to the families of soldiers who died fighting terrorists and also visit some of the wounded soldiers. According to him, “Our soldiers are our symbol of national pride and we must continue to cherish the roles they play by holding fort so that we can live normal lives. While the various moves to rehabilitate the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and rebuild the North-east is very commendable, I think it’s equally important to keep identifying with and inspiring these great (freedom fighters) men.” Speaking also at the event, the group Legal Adviser, Mr. Patrick Etim, expressed commendation for the Nigerian armed forces for the efforts made so far, and therefore called on all Nigerians to put aside political affiliations and other form of sentiment and throw their weight behind the nation’s armed forces. He equally frowned at those who make fun of the army when they suffer casualties, stating that it was the highest level of un-patriotism, and should be desist with henceforth. The event which is billed to take place on December 11 will serve as a morale booster to the Nigerian security agencies in the fight against terrorism and other crimes militating against the unity and development of Nigeria. A senior chieftain of the group, Azubuike Onowu, in his remark, also charged the army to assist the Department of State Security (DSS) and the police in the fight against kidnapping and armed robbery which are also menace to the society. Other members of the group who addressed journalists, the group Board of Trustees (BOT), Chairman, Mr. Jekwu Ozoemena, and the Director of Strategy, Mr. Eze Wordu, called on a Nigerians set aside sentiment and continue to pray for the country’s economic and political prosperity. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/terrorism-group-set-to-hold-support-programme-for-nigerian-military/224162/ |

That doesnt mean you should forget your history. I was quite young also and never knew him well, but news of his death made headlines for a very long time. buzquet: |
Today makes it 29 years after the gruesome murder of one of Nigeria's prolific journalist, Sumonu Oladele Giwa. Dele Giwa as he was fondly called was born on 16 March 1947 to a poor family working in the palace of Oba Adesoji Aderemi, the Ooni of Ife. He attended local Authority Modern School in Lagere, Ile-lfe. When his father moved to Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife as a laundry man, he gained admission to that school. Dele Giwa travelled to the USA for his higher education, earning a BA in English from Brooklyn College in 1977 and enrolled for a Graduate program at Fordham University. He worked with the New York Times as a news assistant for four years after which he relocated to Nigeria to work with Daily Times. Dele Giwa was killed by a mail bomb in his Lagos home on 19 October 1986 while with his friend Kayode Soyinka. So many stories sprung up after his death on who killed him and why he was killed. One of such stories was his link to Gloria Okon, a lady who was arrested in 1985 for Drug related offenses and who was said to have links to General Babangida's wife. Gloria Okon was said to have died in Detention but a couple of months after, Dele Giwa ran into her in London and she poured out her story to him. It was said that the Government got to know of the meetng and decided to wipe out Giwa as that remained the only way to keep him off their tracks. Lets Celebrate one of Nigeria's finest journalist who was murdered in cold blood. RIP Dele Giwa.
