I hope I'm wrong sha The only African team that will qualify is Egypt. |

The reputations of many past players have aged gracefully largely because their flaws were never subjected to todays level of exposure. They didn't play in this era of intense social media scrutiny. Now every single game is analyzed to the bare minimum, every misplaced pass, failed dribble, missed chance, and poor performance is clipped, posted, and debated across social media by even amateur viewers like us. Even Messi and Ronaldo were not spared.
With past players, most people remember the highlights, the iconic moments, and the occasional big matches they watched. The countless average performances and bad games are forgotten.
Modern players are also expected to do far more than their predecessors. Strikers are no longer judged solely on goals. They are expected to press from the front, drop deep to link play, create chances, and contribute defensively. Mbappe is coming off a 42 goal In 44 game season yet he's still being labelled a problem at Madrid because he doesn't press enough. |

MorataFC: Yes, this is another angle to the discussion.
At the USA 1994 World Cup, Nigeria was in the same group as Argentina, Bulgaria, and Greece. Argentina won their first two matches and accumulated 6 points, yet they still crashed out, as those 6 points were not enough to secure qualification for the second round.
So, in today's game, 3 points can be enough to secure qualification from the group stage, whereas years ago, even 6 points could see you eliminated. Is 3 greater than 6? So, today game is soft compared to then.
Now imagine someone 30 years from now mocking that Argentina team, led by Maradona, for failing to get out of the group stage while praising a team that scraped through with only 3 points now. On paper, the latter "achieved more" because they advanced. But anyone who understands the context should know that football should not be judged by statistics alone. Where you the one that crashed out Argentina? |

AFCON is the toughest qualifiers. AFCON is the toughest tournament yenyenyen.
It's been so nauseating to see the sheer amount of premature ejaculation after Matchday 1.
Mind you other World Cups have had actual serious upsets so I don't see any special accomplishments from any AFCON team in this tourney so far Algeria has been average. Tunisia _terrible South Africa _ terrible Cape Verde _ excellent. Morocco _ very good. Senegal terrible but they were placed in a group of death. Still might qualify to the knockout Congo _ So far soo good. Egypt _ Descent enough. |

popizaino: And you also lost for underratting a 37years old Messi because he plays in MLS while backing Broja, Neto and Jackson to lead Chelsea even if they couldn't score against European and African heavy weights like Norway and Congo in 2026. This entire write up makes absolutely zero sense, but whatever floats your boat. |

The more John Terry cries about not getting the interim role the more he annihilate himself from the owners. Go to a smaller club and build your Cv like lampard is doing. With his name he shouldn't find it difficult getting a job at a Championship or Leaue 1 team. |

If he's washed up according to you in 2024 how come he is having a stellar World cup performance in 2026?
As if players from the EPL are not playing in the world cup to judge from.
You can't parade bums like Neto and oppose the idea of Messi. Lai lai Ok, you win. We should have signed a 37yrs old Messi like you wanted in 2024 because he scored against the heavyweights of Algeria and Austria in 2026. |

You wanted us to buy a 36yrs old washed up Messi in 2024 and we questioned that suggestion at that time now you quoting me when he's 38 to say what exactly. That because he scored a Hatrick against Algeria he can hack it in England at this age lol. |

andrewbaba44: If he is not pulling out of the tournament then wahala no Dey be that
I already stated earlier that its fine to just miss a game and be back for the team last group game He's not pulling out. The child expected birth is in July during the quarterfinals not group games. Belgium won't even make it that far. |

raumdeuter: If he knew this - That his wife was due during the world cup and he doesn't want to miss the birth of the child, he could have pulled out completely and allow the country make a sub when they still had time. Now they have to play with a man short.
If you are the coach or the fans that has maybe another player at home who could have been useful but whose space was taken by Doku, what do you say
This is not an totally unknown thing like a child born premature, It feels selfish sha to claim the spot, deny someone and still not be available He informed the Belgium association of football before the tournament. It's not really a big thing. |

andrewbaba44: I get you ,I totally do ,it’s harsh dragging doku but but ,didn’t doku know the expected delivery time of his son before the wc so maybe he would have sat out of the competition Why? He’s not pulling out of the tournament. He will simply be there for the birth, stay for a day or so and then rejoin the national team. Delph did exactly the same thing with England during the 2018 World Cup. With their current form Belgium won't even make the quarterfinals which is the expected due date. I honestly don’t understand why it has been overblown and it's now a distraction for the Belgium team. |

Lana1: FIFa didn't just arrive at that allocation at random. There are only 2 cities hosting games in Canada and 3 in Mexico. USA has 11 host cities so it makes sense that more games will be held in the US Some comments you read here are just soo amusing at times. Imagine Nigeria co hosting a world cup with South Africa and someone is asking why Nigeria game allocations are smaller lol. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Kimbeast: 8:59am On Jun 15 |
MorataFC: I know, but that is not the point I am making. Are you saying Canada alone does not have the capacity to host a World Cup event? Why give them such a small allocation? They have now denied them the opportunity to bid for hosting the World Cup in the next 20 to 30 years because it will be on record that they hosted in 2026, even though we all know they are just like second supporting striker to the USA. Most of you just say things while having zero idea of what you are talking about. |
