Una too hype this France team sha.

@drisham you see another one?
Who cares? In hindsight I am glad Spain won and went to the final. France would have bottled that game to Argentina. Spain were the perfect opponent for that Argentinan team and they did all of us proud. They didn't only dominate but rendered them completely useless. What more could anyone ask for.

Fabian Ruiz with the best 3 year period a player could dream of. Treble, back to back champions league, Euros and World cup all as key player.

Unless Spain magically flips their form to what it was in the 2024 euros they have no chance of beating this current France.

Btw so after this is over I will have to start watching Chelsea football club again? God abeg
Well if Xabi is as good as I hope he is we are in for a much more exciting and better season. We just need to hit the ground running and start strong from day one. Pre season will tell us more on what to expect.

If it was Madrid that conceded and the goal had been ruled out like that you wouldn't be saying this. But carry on. Once the season starts, it won't even take until Matchday 3 before the usual complaints from you lot begin again about Tebas and whatnot. Don't carry it here.

A lot of top players have moved from Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, and the Netherlands to the Premier League and done really well.

Thierry Henry came from Serie A and became an Arsenal legend.
Cristiano Ronaldo came from Sporting in Portugal and became one of Man United’s greatest.
Luis Suárez came from Ajax in the Netherlands and became one of the league’s best strikers.
Sergio Agüero came from La Liga and became a Premier League icon.
Mohamed Salah came from Serie A and became world-class at Liverpool.
Kevin De Bruyne came back from the Bundesliga and became one of the best midfielders in Premier League history.
And Erling Haaland came from the Bundesliga and started breaking scoring records right away.

So how come a player of Messi’s caliber would flop in the EPL?
Sometimes agenda will just make people to talk "anyhow talk".
It also sounded anyhow that Messi would score just six league goals in an entire Ligue 1 season for PSG, yet it happened. That's why saying a player did this here or that there isn't an argument.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Kimbeast: 8:18pm On Jul 08
Leyqute:
Well, that’s a different argument then. Teenage Ronaldo scoring one league goal is different from a veteran Messi scoring 6 league goals in a season after winning

For the period you’re actually talking about… If you examine the stats closely enough, you’ll notice these facts:

Messi scored 6 goals in 24 starts. 2 as a sub.
In a full season.
In a team that was in a title challenge.
A team that won the league the previous season.

Ronaldo had 1 goal in 5 starts. 5 sub apps.
Half season.
In a team that was in crisis with him having a huge fight with the manager.
A team that won the league a decade ago.

The idiot then went ahead and scored 14 goals in 16 apps in Saudi in the second half of that same season.

Make of that what you will.
There was really no point for this long explanation. Ronaldo has already performed In England and won everything it has over there. So even if he scored 0 in 38games in his 2nd stint it changes nothing. Don't change the discussion to something else.

Your lack of understanding is not my problem
My understanding is perfect. Your zigzagging and Rastafarian habit of bringing up unrelated points instead of addressing the actual discussion won't work here. Stick to the main point that's league football.

Ronaldo has been underwhelming at the world cup even in games vs subpar players. How can we be sure he will perform at big stages? Does he have stage fright? The Euro Portugal won too, he had to leave the field
Yet another meaningless post that adds nothing. Where do you come up with all these comparison?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Kimbeast: 6:24pm On Jul 08
raumdeuter:
Messi spent almost 15yrs in one league, Ronaldo never played in French League so we will never know

What we know for certain is that Messi thrived at the CL and at the world cup, We have seen how much of a flop Ronaldo was at world cup level

Messi has scored in the last 9 consecutive games at world cup, While Ronaldo struggled vs Congo. Imagine if he had to ply in Congolese league vs Motema Pempe, We never know how it will pan out
You keep making comparisons and arguments that have no foundation. Ronaldo proved himself in three different leagues, so there's actual evidence to support those claims that he could do this or that. Messi left la Liga and only managed just six league goals in his first season in Ligue 1. That evidence proves the opposite for Messi but like I said we don't know. Just because he was underwhelming in Ligue 1 doesn't mean he wouldn't have light up the premier league.

Joshua has beaten those significantly better than you but since he never fought you directly we never know who is the better boxer betwen you and Joshua

Same way we dont know if Ronaldo can survive Cyprus or French League since he never played there
Your examples don't match the argument.

That's why the word "consistently" is key.

One off K.O games don't apply in this context - UTD also got eliminated in domestic cups during this period.

We all saw how Messi fell off with his 6
and 16 goals respectively in Weak French League after years of dominating laliga
Perfectly summed up. The answer is we don't know. Until you do something it's just speculation and guess work.

Dont play smart bro. You were using his first 6-goal season in France to conclude that he might not cut it in Engalnd.

Yet you conveniently left out the second (42G/A) ballon dor winning season in France as if it didnt matter just to run agenda.

Again you left out Pendu's one goal abysmal second season in EPL. Using your logic, shall I say Pendu never did well in his second stint in England? Am I allowed to ignore his first season like you did to Messi's second?

Oya gbewa
You are explaining and arguing with your imagination bro. Unless you are saying Messi didn't score 6 league goals then whatever else you have going on doesn't relate to my post.

You saw Messi score 32 goals and 35 assists (67G/A) in 75games while in Ligue 1. How is that anything bad?

It's like you guys set up a standard for Messi that you don't measure Wasiu up against. Why should Pendu be exempted from the same conclusion that made you think Messi's 67 G/A in 75 games is a failure when at the same period he recorded 30 G/A in 55 games for Man utd?

It's ridiculous that unknowingly you lots are placing Messi to a higher standard and therefore validating his superiority.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Nothing you have written has anything to do with my post. Six league goals in his first season are still six league goals. I don't know what you mean by "being held to higher standards" or any of that.

That was around the time Nicholas Anelka and Drogba was top scorer

The time when Andy Johnson was scoring 21 goals, Bernie McCarthy 21 goals and Adebayor 24 goals
He also scored 5 league goals in a time when Moussa dembele and Martin Terrier were scoring 21goals. So, who knows what might or might not have happened.

The fact is we don't know how Messi would have performed in England. Would he have adapted to the weather, culture, and language? No one knows. Just because Player A did this and Player B did that isn't prove of anything as we saw with Messi in Ligue 1.

All of this was said when Messi moved to Ligue 1 as well, and we all know how that turned out.
