AFAIK, any game with a target 60fps that runs mid 40's has a game engine issue ie the developers haven't optimised the game. For instance Quantum Break had that issue on the PS4&XBox one. The developers then set the option to cap it at 30fps or leave it variable, a settings available in the options menu.
As for graphics selling better than frames, you'll have to hear what gamers on CS:Go think about that. Competitive players lower their screen resolutions to hit higher frame rates as that reduces input lag. It think it's a case of everyone has a sweet spot, I like to get both

most games on xbone/ps4 dont run at 60fps...and even at 30fps its not stable....no manner of engine optimisation would allow witcher 3 or battlefield in all its glory on the consoles run at a stable 60fps on these new consoles. the hardware is weak. so the we ask the question....why would the devs not reduce the graphic fidelity to achieve a stable 60fps.. simple cos graphics is a better seller than frame rates. imagine this on a game box or download page "mindblowing 60fps liquid smooth gameplay" instead of "mindblowing graphics with true to life fidelity" which one you think would sell?

competitive gamers are a niche crowd compared to casuals.people jux love graphics hence quad sli gpu setups nd xfires for jux 2k and 4k of the same game they could be enjoying on 1080p for far less money.

i'd love to have both on affordable hardware too

( i do text animation though both in 2d and 3d ) but just once in a while whenever i want to do 2d animation, i hire graphics designer to help me with the designs and drawing ( adobe illustrator design because your drawings must be in vector format if you want to animate it ) ..

trust me you wouldnt want to be the one to be drawing and at the same time be the one to be animating ..it will work for small project but it will never work out for big project REASon is because your animating skill is going to suffer for it

but to just know the basic drawing please illustrator is your best bet ( at least that is what i use )

what im saying is that they would rather eye candy than 60fps...nd most 60fps are actually mid 40s at best. they wud rather sacrifice frames for graphix...cos graphics sell games better than frames.

And about amd only rely on Microsoft for updates and thats not the case on Nvidia
And I don't know why you have to go extra mile for amd... With Nvidia it is plug and play.. But it worth the stress my brother

And frame rate is important to all gamers

oh no do not rely on ms for updates....you would be under utilising ur gpu trust me....always use amd sites....if its not gud enuff jux roll back to the last gud one u used.

also not all gamers fancy framerates to graphix....gaming fora have tot me that.

nice setup. liked the way you added "lol" to pes 16....with its "cutting edge graphics" loool.

also i used to game on amd....i must say the colors on my amd was a bit better than my gtx 780. I used a gtx 280 before moving to a 7770 hd den a 7850 hd now a gtx 780.my verdict would be most games give me problems on amd and i have to use patches and other ways but the nvidia works most often out of the box.. .crimson drivers however, saw a serious improvement to the 7850....saw my framerates increase from 30 to mid 50s in battlefield 4 on 900p (framerates are important to me)

Price is right, it's still around £160 in the UK for a GTX 780. Nvidia cards don't loose their value quickly.

yh...dats y i quickly grabbed it....cheapest i cud find nd well worth the price.

well with my 7850 xfx i was "killing it" not ultra but the eye candy was still available.

I got most of my things from tonaton and olx gh. It's not news that most of the sellers on there for any advanced stuff on pc got it thru cyber frauding, and most of their things are lesser in pricing too. Others also pillage them frompcsthat come through the harbour. Do I go to them thinking they are are criminals and need to be punished? Lol no...in a way I'm grateful cos the real market has failed me. Now after analysing the price of importation and also the cedi to dollar rate, that was the option to go. I'm not saying it's the best option, but it's because it exists that I can build my pc with my given funds. Do u know how impossible it is to get parts on the normal market? Cyber fraud exists in my country and also innigeria...let's not kid ourselves, it's not news.

Niways guys suggesting cyber fraud was the last thing on my mind. I dnt really condone it but I won't hesitate to buy a rare item from a cyber fraudster...for me it's business.ifthe market provides it legitimately at an affordable price,I'd choose that option in a heartbeat. I still think a few of the 500 series gpu dat were released four years ago still receive driver support in the regular updates. So i'm not sure if this is gonna be much of an issue for current 900 series gpu four years from now.

I saw some benchmarks of the 680m sli. And it could still run Just Cause 3 at 1080p and ultra settings at around 50 to 60 fps. It could also run Fallout 4 under those conditions at around d same fps range. The current 970m and 980m gpus are far better than the 680m and they are built to last a while. So i'm pretty confident the 970m and 980m SLIs can run games at ultra, 1080p, and 60fps(average 50-55 fps) four years from now. And those are just the mobile versions. The desktop versions ll definitely exceed the mobile versions in every aspect of gaming.

That's good to hear... Buh let's be honest, these games are not graphically great. And like I said if the trend keeps on the way it's going then we may have some hope for games with little graphical leaps. Surely ade we can't hope to see 680m sli run star citizen on ultra or very high with a constant 60fps. But I am surprised 500 series still receive. Sli updates. Wud check that out.

But 4k at 60fps, let's forget that one unless u are rocking the new babies (desktop versions) in sli/ crossfire.

I'm still pc-less by the way. Loool.

I actually dont favor Sli/crossfire. Too expensive. And you'd think if u're dropping money for double the horse power, that the performance is supposed to be perfect. But that's not the case. Microstuttering is an issue on the sli/crossfire. Also read something about input lag as frames are processed from one gpu to the other. But we still cant dispute the fact that most games run better on sli/crossfire. 4 yrs from now and some of these sli/crossfire gpus ll still be able to run games at 1080p regardless of the new technologies in place by then....

But ade, if they cannot run the games now without problems, how will they fair four years later with no more driver support. Even being current gpus, the drivers aren't great, you actually think they will do better later on? Let's pray that they do get better later in the future (dx12 feature set).

Also it'll depend on how great the graphics improve in the next four years. If it's moving as slow as it is then, surely yes, at 1080p they myt pull off mid-high settings on a 40-60fps interval (forget rock solid 60fps) but if they do take off then well....I dnt want to witness the dissaapointment. And everything I have said is about the desktop versions...let's not even talk about the laptop versions with heat problems and them being atmost 2gens lower than their desktop counterparts. We shud be praying for very powerful single gpus with extremely low power draw. Let's hope pascal and polaris (nvidia and amd, respectively) can bring this future to fruition.

Why are pc enthusiasts talking about sli/crossfire (mobile version as a matter of fact) like it actually gives double performance?

The support is not great on the part of the developers and nvidia/ amd drivers for it ain't great at all. Also it has it problems like. Microstuttering etc. Sli won't maintain 60fps and other things in 2020 in 4k even on low settings. Effects and new techs will be introduced in games in the future that MAY render these cards almost useless (think the geeforce 7000 series before the intro of shaders)
