HealthCOVID-19: Lagos Might Have Up To 39,000 Cases, Says Health Commissioner by Kimzo(op): 5:29pm On Mar 27, 2020
The Lagos government on Friday said it expects to see up to 39,000 cases of COVID-19 in the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, disclosed this at a Press briefing at the Ministry of Health in Alausa.

Abayomi said, “Our mathematical modelling shows that the worst-case scenario is that we may see up to 39,000 cases in Lagos.”

He, however, said if everyone practices good social distancing, the figure will be limited to 13,000.

“If we add social distancing to active contact tracing, then we will be able to bend the curve further,” he said.

Abayomi said the figures were small as compared to outbreaks around the globe

“The figures may seem alarming at this point, but this is just to emphasize to the Lagos community to follow instructions of the incident commander to make sure that we practice social distancing and other preventive measures.

“Looking at the same time frame from the introduction of the index case, you can see that Lagos State is not seen anywhere near what Spain, Italy and Iran are showing.

“So, at weeks two and three of our index case, we are flat and at week four, we have 37 cases; while at the same fourth week, Italy, Iran and Spain had more than 20,000 cases.

“So, we are doing something right in the state,” Abayomi added.

HealthIs A Lockdown Possible In Nigeria... by Kimzo(op): 2:46pm On Mar 22, 2020
Since it seems one of the most effective way of containing the spread of Corona virus is to place the nation on a total lockdown as evidence by how far China have come....

Most badly hit European countries have also adopted the lockdown, countries like Italy, Spain, France and of recent United Kingdom...

Are we looking like a likely case of a lockdown here in Nigeria, is it realistically going to be possible, because it means, all markets, clubs, hotels, pubs, restaurant, event centres would be shut down, and many people would surely have to lose their jobs....

I sincerely hope it doesn't get that worse for us, we cam prevent that by doing the following

*Wash your hands frequently
*Avoid social gathering of a large crowd
*Social distancing
*Use of hand sanitizer

HealthRe: Dangerous Times: Share Your Nose Mask And Hand Sanitizer Buying Experience by Kimzo:
bunto:
I have been following the Coronavirus PANDEMIC in the news for 3 months and I used to think we Nigerians might be "immune" but I have now become worried for Nigerians.

These are the reasons.

1. We are still using public transport where people are packed so closely together.

2. Pharmacies and supermarkets have jacked up the prices of hand sanitizer and nose masks. These are the two things that could seriously help in mitigating against the acute spread of this Covid- 19 Virus immediately.

A pharmacy in my neighborhood, is selling a small medical face mask for N200 and selling the cuplike ones for N1000.

Many supermarkets and pharmacies are selling hand sanitizers at ridiculous prices. Is this the time to profit from this?

Why are we Nigerians like this?

Is there a helpline we can call to report these Shylocks?

We are supposed to all be in this together.

Please share your experiences.
Thank you.

Maybe you need to check Twitter and see the price hike isn't happening only in Nigeria, meaning it's not only a Nigeria thing, Prices of those items have sky rocketed in almost all countries where they have recorded cases of Covid-19

The mortality rate is less than 3%, so it is no big deal. Just avoid contact with people to avoid infecting them. The result might turn negative.

I think you and your brother should take a sick leave from your work place, and self-isolate for some days. Then also report to the NCDC, just to be on a safer side. It's for the good of yourselves and the people around you. Your brother's case seems more severe. I just hope it's a negative report. Don't panic, just follow the necessary steps, and whatever comes out, you'll be fine.
I have contacted NCDC on twitter not replied yet

Methink, it's one of these guys that sponsor a girl, provide everything and the girl come get lover boy for school or work place but finds it difficult to break up because of all the investment.

Let her open up to you and you consider it, girl chop you for years, come go do love with another person, how you go feel?
she got the apartment through him,but he was not the one that paid, problem is the guy was so supportive during her diploma days, which I know of before we started dating because she told me

The girl is obviously confused. U should not link your confusion to hers. Forget about her unless u are enjoying the games. This one is not love
And I have decided to let her be, but even if I leave her the guy would go on to be hostile around her, and maybe lead to violence, because the last time he called he was saying he would beat her up, which I hate
