In the early 2000s football was a much bigger sport within the black communities... But as years went by and some black South Africans started showing interest in playing rugby, the black communities started slowly paying attention to it.

But now rugby has made its mark in this country and I can say that it's now a bigger sport nationally... And yes, football is popular within the black communities, townships and villages to be specific, but that doesn't mean they don't like rugby, they just never got the opportunities to be exposed to the sport and learn how it really works, while football has always been a dominant sport within those communities.

But I like the fact that rugby is bigger than football because it just unites the entire country and I love it.

Um, No. Football remains the number 1 sport in SA by far....Rugby just happen to receive the most publicity these days because its succesful

😂😂😂 I always wonder why they always under perform despite having one of the best run leagues on the continent, with better sports infrastructure than most of others yet they still struggle to beat Niger, Liberia or even Uganda 😂😂😂 almost never qualify for tournaments excepts when hosting, the bayana bayana does it better than the bafana bafana.

South African footballers are too comfortable in the PSL because it pays well, it kills their desire to compete outside South Africa

Thats why majority of cricketing loving population across the world have shifted to T20 cricket .

Check out Indian Premier league (IPL) its the second richest league after American football and ahead of EPL .

Disney and Others paid 6.2 billion dollars for just 5 years of IPL television rights and games are played for only 2 months of entire year .

T20 cricket has been accepted as Olympic sport by IOC and scheduled to play from 2028 Los Angeles Olympics .

I can tell you're an avid cricket fan, which team do you support?

Cricket has three formats .

T20 cricket which last 3 hours .
One day cricket which last 8 hours .
Test Match cricket which last 5 days .

8 hours is a whole day to me, that's a large chunk of the day

And besides, Rugby is a winter sport... These are not African games....

Very few exposed African individuals has the idea of the game...

Rugby is no different to football, there's a pitch and a ball, so how can rugby be a winter sport and football not?
