mysticwarrior: Inasmuch as you may be sounding right to yourself, you are also very wrong. If you had said " Tribal obsession is for some of you Nigerians" your remarks would have been more suitable in a more understandable terms that would have been fairly commendable. Like I said, The obsession with tribes and these little boxes is a Nigerian thing, leave me out of it |

mysticwarrior: I have always suspected you to be a Zulu ever since the day you engaged me after I made some remarks about Zulus, and you just confirmed my suspicion and suppress any possible doubt with this your write up. You are one south African that has never contested me with bitter words unlike Iron, Tmk and Blaze.
You once told me that "since I have not met a Zulu I possibly can not know much about them", now I know a humble Zulu. With humility and sincerity, I offer my unreserved apologies for what I must have said about the Zulus that isn't really true. Whether I'm Zulu, Tswana, Pedi, Venda, Xhosa, etc etc, it's pointless, I'm South African, that's all that matters. Tribal obsession is for you Nigerians, leave me out of it |

Angelfrost: So, it's a culturally okay thing to show off white panties and thighs in front of your lecturers and academic dignitaries?!!
Your defensiveness is misguided and amusing! The panty showing off was akin to wind blowing off your skirt on a windy day, purely accidental! let's not make this what it's not, please |

Sepukku: Modern studies indicate that the Bantu popluations have an average of 25% Khoisan genes in their make up while the so called Colored populatons carry them at a 75% percentile.
This would mean that 4 of 10 Bantu people very likely carry some khoisan genes while 7 out of 10 coloreds carry them at a higher frequency.
The porportion of Khoisan ancestry in Bantu is quite similar to that of the amount of European DNA in African Americans, with a conclusion that dilution of genes not enough to significantly change the phenotype of the Bantu. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha |

Angelfrost: There is a time and place for everything, even in the culture you espouse above common sense!
In African culture, do you kiss or have sex in public??!
Is the university hall during a purely academic exercise the place for such a risque cultural display??!
Don't just comment for the sake of commenting! You're equating two things that aren't the same. Sex in public is shunned by most cultures not just African ones, rightly so because it's a private thing, Zulu tribal dancing is done anywhere, to celebrate for example, the graduation is a celebration so such a dance is not out of place One thing I've come to notice with Nigerians on this forum is that you guys are very very cringy and have this inferior view to anything African, until maybe a white person validates you, I'm glad I'm South African because we really aren't ashamed of what we are, we display it fully with pride |

1Sharon: This is not surprising at all. Modern South Africans absorbed the genes of the indigenous Khoi-san people. It shows up in their phenotype. True, The first Pic is of a elderly Zulu woman 2. A Xhosa man 3. Two of the last pics are of Pedi men

XAUBulls: Samantha, hows it going? Have you ever taken a DNA test from an ancestry DNA company in SA to determine the percentages of Khoisan genetic markers?
A couple of genetic tests results I have seen from black South Africans on YouTube are very revealing. The bushman genes were found in the iconic Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela. Bushman genes are to be found on every modern black South African, on average black South Africans tend to be lighter complexioned, shorter, leaner, have sparingly hair like the khoisan, etc, The Xhosa people especially, inherited their high cheekbones

XAUBulls: Indeed @1Sharon.
Some of the early white male immigrants from the late 1600s also fathered children with Khoisan women... Hence the light skin among some Khoisan. Erm no, the light?reddish skin of the Khoisan is not due to the mixing with whites, that is how they originally look |

1Sharon: Ah yes ofcourse. White people ate the source of the coloured category in SA aren't they? Not quite, the colored population itself is very very mixed, some have little or no white blood, some have more of malay/indinesian blood, some are more khoi inclined, some are very dark so no. |

Lionessza6: Your problem just like that of kingcold/sirtree is over-simplification of things simply wanting to put things into small boxes or categories, Unfortunately that won't work in cases like this. Why should I classify myself as anything else outside of being Xhosa or black South African?.There's a difference between mainstream classification of people or widely accepted identities and their real identities. People like Trevor Noah are widely accepted or it's pushed down their throats that they are black; but in reality they're neither black or white , they are who they are and that's biracial or mixed race people. Jim crow must not rule our brains even on his grave .
The modern day South Africans were formed from unions between clans of the Khoe and san and those of Bantus ; in the case of Zulus and Xhosas these Bantus were Ngoni. Simply reality as is evident from their Genes, language and clan names. I asked you why you don't have Pedi people in Central Affrica ,did you all run down South? Why don't you look or sound like them?. Did your bloodline get editted by the weather of SA? If not so , then why do you choose to omit another side of you and embrace only one identity ? Trying to conform with *what is widely believed or what you expected to identify by your teachers *? This is precisely what I said mos? |

sageb: I do watch Steven Pienaar right from his playing days in Ajax. I like that generation of SA footballers like pienaar, Shaun Bartlett, Mark Fish, Lucas Radebe ,etc. Is Benni Mccarthy the best SA player ever? He's regarded as one the best no doubt, but Jomo Sono is regarded as SAs best ever player, actually players from that era, the 70s..it is believed, if it wasn't for apartheid this group would have won the World Cup |
