Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic, Mr Boss Mustapha has warned Nigerians against having the thoughts that the eased restriction which President Buhari announced, is the end of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Mustapha while speaking on Thursday at the daily briefing of the task force, said security operatives will be strictly enforcing health guidelines aimed at combating the spread of Coronavirus during the eased restriction.

He also added that a copy of the guidelines will be published in the media so every Nigerian will get to know their role in helping to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

Mustapha said;

“AS WE APPROACH THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE FIRST OF A THREE-PHASED EASING OF LOCKDOWN FROM MONDAY, MAY 4TH,2020, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT NIGERIANS RECEIVE AND DIGEST THE IMPLEMENTATION GUIDELINES.

“IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT FOR STATES, LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENTS, TRADE ASSOCIATIONS, EMPLOYERS, BUSINESSES AND CITIZENS TO UNDERSTAND THEIR ROLES, OBLIGATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

“ABOVE ALL, WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS STILL A WAR AGAINST AN UNSEEN AND POTENT ENEMY. NO ONE SHOULD MISTAKE THE EASING OF RESTRICTIONS FOR PERMISSION TO ACT WITHOUT CARE. THE SECURITY AGENTS HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO RESPECT THE RIGHTS OF CITIZENS WHILE ALSO ENSURING STRICT ENFORCEMENT.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state, has ordered the use of chloro-quine for treatment of Coronavirus in the state.

The Governor made the announcement while giving an update in the fight against Covid-19.Governor Bala Muhammed disclosed that he was treated with “chloroquine and Zithromax” after he tested positive for Coronavirus, and he also said that he will would take responsibility for any consequences of approving such drugs.


He said;

“OUR MEDICAL TEAM IS USING THEIR OWN INGENUITY TO USE CHLOROQUINE AND ZITHROMAX TO TREAT THE PATIENTS, EVEN THOUGH IN SOME PLACES, THEY SAID IT IS AGAINST THE PROTOCOL.

“AS THE GOVERNOR, I’M TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THAT BECAUSE I DON’T WANT ANYONE TO DIE.

“I HAVE GIVEN YOU THE DIRECTIVE THAT YOU MUST USE SOMETHING THAT I HAVE USED TO GET WELL, JUST AS YOU HAVE USED FOR ALL OTHER CASES THAT GOT WELL.

“RATHER THAN SAYING THAT SOMETHING IS HARMFUL, WE SHOULD NOT FOLLOW WHAT THE WHITE PEOPLE ARE SAYING BY NOT TAKING ANYTHING AND DIE.

“WE ARE USED TO TAKING CHLOROQUINE IN NIGERIA. WE ARE GOING TO USE THEM. WE HAVE TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY AND I HAVE TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY.

“ZITHROMAX AND CHLOROQUINE ARE NOT HARMFUL TO OUR BODY, OUR PHYSIOLOGICAL SYSTEM HAS ADAPTED TO IT. IF YOU ARE HAVING A FEVER YOU TAKE CHLOROQUINE.”

Governor Bala also disclosed that they are yet to record a Coronavirus death in Bauchi state because they’ve been using the drugs.

As at 11:55pm on April 29, Bauchi state had 29 cases of Coronavirus.
