Below is the proposed 2015/2016 1st Academic Calendar of the Federal University of Technology Minna; FIRST SEMESTER: MONDAY 16 DECEMBER, 2015 TO SATURDAY 16 April, 2016 Monday 16 November, 2015 – Sunday 6 December, 2015 - Online registration for all students (3 weeks) Monday 7 December, 2015 – Saturday 19 December - Arrival of new students (2 weeks) Monday 21, 2015 – Saturday 26, 2015 - Christmas Break (1 week) Sunday, 3 January, 2016- Arrival of all students Monday 11- Lectures commence for all students Thursday, 21 January, 2015 - Matriculation Ceremony of new intakes (2015/2016 session) Monday, 28 March 2016 – Saturday 9 April, 2016 - First Semester Examinations for all levels (2 weeks) Monday, 25 April 2016– Friday, 7 October, 2016 - SIWES (24 weeks) for all Schools with exception of SAAT and SSTE students. Monday, 11 April, 2015 – Saturday, 23 April 2016- First Semester Break (2 weeks) Thursday 19 May 2015- School board to consider First Semester Results. Wednesday 25th May - Senate to consider first semester results. Every Wednesday of the week, Lectures to end by 2:00p.m for Sporting activities for all students. |
The Vice chancellor of the University of Uyo, Professor
(Mrs) Comfort M. EKPO the convocation during a press
briefing ahead of the the 21st convocation ceremony
of the institution said that the institution will be
graduation a total of 4,186 students.
The break down is as follows; Postgraduate Diploma –
347, Masters Degree– 899, Ph.D – 82, Bachelors
degree First Class – 11 Second Class Upper Division –
564, Second Class Lower Division – 1,572, Others –
903, Diploma and Certificate – 309.
According to the VC, for the first time, in the history of
the University of Uyo harvested a female as the overall
best graduating student in the person of Miss Nsidibe
Solomon Etuk of the Department of Music, with a
Cumulative Grade point Average of 4.65.
She further stated that the overall best graduating
student in Medicine and Pharmacy are females. They
are: (a) Dr. Imaobong Ubom (Medicine) and
Pharmacist Grace Monday Williams(Pharmacy).
She revealed that Over 98%, of the academic
programmes offered in the institution have been
accredited by the National Universities Commission
(NUC) with most of them at Full Accreditation Status
including Pharmacy programme which had always been
on Interim Accreditation since its commencement 21
years ago but has now earned Full Accreditation
Status.
She further disclosed that the institution is the 10th
most preferred University in Nigeria for admission, as it
attracted over 40,000 candidates for the 2015 Unified
Tertiary matriculation Examination (UTME), with a
quota of 6,659 for admission.
It was learnt that Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, Chief Uko
Akpan Umanah and Senator Ita Solomon Enang will be
conferred with Honorary degrees at during the
