Every one of us desires such change that will make our lives better, healthier and more productive. Such change however, will not just happen. We need to create it. Here are five major catalysts that will enable you create that positive change. Positive Thought Pattern: You cannot truly change the way you are until you’ve changed the way you think. As someone said, “We cannot solve the significant problems we face at the same level of thinking we were when we created them.” This means that creating that change will first demand a change in your thinking process. If you desire a positive change, then you need to think positive. You need to let go of every limiting belief. This will help you develop positive efficacy and positions you to embrace your desired change. Discontentment: discontentment is a key catalyst of change. This is because as long as you are comfortable with the way you are, then there is no need for change or let me put it this way, you will never see the need for a change. For you to embrace any positive change, you need to come to that point where you declare, “I am tired of living this way,” consciously or subconsciously. People rarely change unless there is a reason or they have seen a reason for such change. Discontentment can be a strong motivation in reaching out for that change you desire. Let’s say the extent to which you are fed up with your current situation determines how aggressive you will be in actualizing the needed change. Vision: Having a clear idea of where, who or what you desire to be is half the job of getting there. That simply means that the process if change begins with knowing where you would rather be. So before the real change you desire will happen, you have to first sincerely answer the question, “Where Do I Go from Here?” If you do not have a vision of the kind of change you want, how then would you know how to create the change? When you have a clear idea of the change you want, it is easier to take note and take the specific steps needed to create your desired change. Action: I don’t have to say much on this one. I believe you already know that nothing works until you act. There is no meaningful and positive change that is not a product of certain positive action(s). You have the responsibility to make it work. According to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, “Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.” Perseverance: Change most times does not happen spontaneously. It is equally not usually easy. It will often require discipline and perseverance. Sometimes it will seem that your efforts aren’t giving the needed results and you feel like giving up. However you need to stick to the process until you actualize your goal; knowing that nothing good usually comes easy. Just take the process bit by bit. If your strategy seems not to be working, change the approach but never give up until you achieve your desires change. |

There are new studies on breast health that have revealed that certain habits could be causing breasts to sag, the habits include: 1. Dieting- Dieting usually involves sticking to certain eating rules for a period of time and then, returning to regular eating habits. This inconsistent habit causes the breast to droop because the tissue in your breast loose elasticity. 2. Sleeping on your stomach. 3. Smoking- This bad habit weakens and ages skin including the skin that helps breasts fight gravity. 4. Wearing heels- Although these make you feel sexy, they contribute to breast sagging due to the fact that they cause bad posture, which causes your breasts hang lower. 5. Wearing the wrong bra size. 6. Dehydration- In case in you need one more to drink enough water, this is it. Studies show that not drinking enough water contributes to breast sagging. 7. Heavy running. |

With 55.57 per cent control of the market as of Monday, Opera is currently the highest patronised browser in Nigeria. The browser started the year with 48.13 per cent market control, moved up to 52.94 per cent in May before it experienced a spark that pushed it to above 55 per cent on Monday. ADVERTISEMENT The information is sourced from StatCounter , an online Internet resource organisation. Every day, the online platform tracks Internet activities in different parts of the world, rating performances and dynamics on certain parameters. Opera’s performance is an average of the figures it polls from four major Internet browsing platforms – desktop, tablet, mobile and console – captured by the researcher. The figure is driven by the patronage it receives from mobile Internet subscribers, where it garnered 68.81 per cent on Monday to maintain its clear lead in the category. Even with its dominance, the charts point upward. Opera is distantly followed by Google Chrome, which polled 12.91 per cent across various computer and mobile devices to become the second highest performing browser in the country. With 48.84 per cent of desktop browsing activities in Nigeria conducted via Chrome, it took over from Mozilla Firefox to become the most popular browser among Internet subscribers who use computers. Its six-month average is 37.86 per cent. Firefox, which started the year with 4.92 per cent, dropped to 35.97 per cent on Monday to settle for the second position. With 40.92 per cent, its six-month average is still the highest in the desktop category. Across different platforms, Firefox and UCWeb Browser trail behind Chrome as the third most used browser in the country. They are competing for the third position. Both browsers control slightly above eight per cent of the Internet market each. According to the statistics, Internet Explorer has continued to struggle, losing the market it once dominated to newer brands. Across all platforms, Internet Explorer’s six-month average is 3.14 per cent. The overall performance is boosted by its 14.85 per cent six-month average on desktop. This indicates that it could lose more market share as more subscribers migrate to mobile platforms. This has been the trend in recent times. Internet Explorer mobile device browser has been patronised by 1.39 per cent of the market in the past six months, on the average. As soon as Microsoft replaced Internet Explorer with Windows series, the Internet market influencers pronounced the search engine dead. Reports say subscribers have continued to migrate to more-secure browsers. Google, a global leader in searches, has continued to lead that area of the Internet. In Nigeria, it has sustained its leadership with 90.92 per cent six-month average in search engine performance analysis. Google is followed by Bing’s 4.76 per cent, Yahoo’s 2.72 per cent as second and third top-performing SEs respectively. Ask Jeeves, WebCrawler and other new entrants trail behind. Android is also the leading operating system, commanding 31.81 per cent of the market on the average in the past six months. This statistic cuts across different platforms – desktop and mobile devices.

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 52- year-old school teacher, Isaac Ikiabeke, for allegedly raping a five-year-old pupil in the Ikorodu area of the state. PUNCH M etro gathered that Ikiabeke, who is also the proprietor of the school, Brighter Glory School, located on Etunrere Street, raped his victim after school hours. ADVERTISEMENT The victim, five-year-old Pat (pseudonym), told our correspondent the father of three had allegedly raped her 10 times. She said, “He has been doing it for some time. He has done it more than 10 times. I am not the only one. He does it with some of us after school hours. I could not tell anybody because he said if I did he would beat me.” The victim’s grandfather explained to our correspondent that his attention was drawn to the sexual assault by some of Pat’s classmates. He said he was shocked, as well as disappointed in Ikiabeke, whom he regarded as a respectable person. He said, “Pat and her younger sister stay with me and they attend the school. I never suspected anything initially, except that I observed she would be holding her belly and turning on the bed and when I asked her what happened, she would say she was having stomachache. “It was one of her classmates that told me what the school owner had been doing to her and I quickly went to report at the station, after which he was arrested.” Our correspondent was also told that the matter was brought to the attention of the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender. A police source told PUNCH Metro that the police got complaints from two victims. He said a three-year-old pupil, who was equally raped by the suspect, was in a critical condition in a hospital. He said, “There were actually two pupils that we were told he raped. The atrocity had been going on for a long time before he was arrested.” Our correspondent was told that Pat had also been taken to the hospital for treatment. The police on Monday arraigned Ikiabeke before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court on one count of unlawful sexual intercourse. The charge read, “That you, Isaac Ikiabeke, on June 9, 2015, at about 3pm, at Brighter Glory School, Etunrere Street, Ikorodu, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did have unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, (name withheld) aged five years and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 258 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.” The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and elected summary trial. He was represented by two counsel – Marcus Imoudu and Kola Afolayan. Also in court were A.O. Komolafe and B.N. Ameh of the OPD, who held brief for the complainant. Imoudu prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail in liberal terms. But the police prosecutor, Cyril Ejiofor, of the State Department of Criminal Investigation, objected to the bail application. He said, “While I agree that bail is at the discretion of the court, I oppose the bail application of the defence counsel. He has not given any cogent reason to the court for which the defendant should be granted bail. “The charge before the court is punishable by life imprisonment. And although we don’t want to go into proof of evidence, I want the court to take cognisance of the fact that two minors are involved in the substantive charge. “This is a vice that is affecting society. I want the court to look at the interest of the state in granting bail to the defendant.” The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Soladoye, in her ruling, said the offence was bailable. She thereafter admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum. “One of the sureties must be a school proprietor or proprietress, while the second surety must be a serving civil servant of Grade Level 17,” she added. The case was adjourned till August 10, 2015. |
