The couple were dragged to the Federal High Court, Owerri, Imo State, presided over by Justice O. O. Oguntoyinbo, on a two count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence » by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). A gang of robbers » took wickedness to the extreme after the beat up a man and pounded his head with a pestle because he had no money to give them, after eating his food. This was the story former staff of National Electric Power Authority Cooperative Estate (NEPASCOOP), had to tell after the thieves stormed his home at Olajumoke, Akute, Ogun State. According to the man, the armed robbers stormed his house and requested for money but when he had none to offer, they ordered him to prepare them food and after eating, the angry robbers » slammed a pestle on his head. The Chairman of the estate confirmed the incident, stating that the robbers inflicted severe injuries on the man after eating his food. "The victim was rushed to the hospital after the robbers left. If not, maybe he would have bled to death." According to the estate Chairman, the attack was the second in the estate in as many weeks. On that fateful day, the robbers were said to have gained entrance into the estate by scaling the fence around 2 am where they operated for two hours without interruption, moving from one building to the other. Before the robbers left, they had inflicted machete cuts on a man, flogged another with belt before slamming pestle on his head. One of residents said: "After robbing a particular apartment, they would lock the family in a room. They apparently did not want them to call for help or alert other neighbours. Then they would move to another apartment. We heard they robbed four buildings." |
The many disadvantages of having an abortion cannot be overemphasised, and according to The Foundation for Africa Cultural Heritage, cancer is now one of the risks associated with undergoing an abortion. According to FACH president, Dr. Nkechi Asogwa, many cases of breast cancer have been linked to the aftermath of an abortion. Asogwa further said that contraceptives and other birth control pills that have been banned in the United States due to their side effects were being shipped to Nigeria, adding that Nigerians deserve to be told the medical risks involved in taking birth control pills, to enable them to make informed choice. According to her: "When you terminate a pregnancy you end many ongoing processes in the body such as the preparation of breast for the secretion of milk. So the tissues that were cut off suddenly would become fragile and they can trigger the formation of cancerous cells in the breast. There are about five health implications attached to most of these drugs and that was why they were banned in the West. But here, no one is asking questions" Bomedical scientist, Obianuju Ekeocha speaking at the forum also warned that abortion might damage the womb and lead to future infertility. She called on the Federal Government to resist any pressure from international partners to legalise abortion .... |

The court however ordered that on Monday, May 11, that the House be opened, but the state Police Command flouted the order as the House remains closed five days after the court order. The presiding judge, Justice D.V. At a time when most Nigerian states are in debt and even owing salaries, one Governor is said to be leaving his successor a clean slate. Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema will reportedly leave the state debt-free when he vacates office on May 29, 2015. This was revealed by former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu on Saturday, May 9, 2015, when Shema was being conferred with The Sun Outstanding Performance Exit Award in Lagos. “We know Ibrahim as a very intelligent person and the best in our class and as someone who was very very meticulous and detailed in whatever he was doing. Within the last eight years, he has changed the face of government in Katsina,” Ribadu said. “He is the only governor that is going to leave the office with no debt behind. He has paid all, including salaries of the workers of his state. We want to thank you for making us all proud. May God continue to be with you,” he added. Shema will be succeeded as governor by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). |

It's not about loose morals or a weak mind, it's just that you may have been on the single market for too long and have a tendency of going into these types of taboo relationships. Julia Austin of Madame Noire lists these kinds of forbidden love singles are likely to engage in: 1. Step something: It could be as close as a stepsibling, or a cousin by marriage, or an awkwardly young step-uncle. But, sharing so many similar experiences as pseudo-family does, you can’t help but feel a special bond with a certain attractive non-blood relative at some point. 2. A neighbour: Simply being exposed to someone repeatedly can play a trick on your mind, making you feel attracted to that person. And the fact that your neighbor is just down the hall or street, so accessible when you’re feeling, um, playful, can make this type of taboo love become hot and heavy fast. But your feelings can be confusing: is it proximity or compatibility that’s keeping things together? 3. A religiously committed person: Either his family would disown him should he marry a woman outside their religion, or keeping up the religious tradition via marriage/the bloodstream is genuinely important to him—more important than being with “the one.” Either way, you’ll engage in a hot fling with a guy who things really can’t go anywhere serious with due to his religious background. 4. Lawyer/Client: A lawyer is almost like a therapist—out of necessity, you tell him every last detail of your life. You’ll instantly feel bonded to him for this reason, and, should he like the details of your life, he may develop feelings for you. Get a new lawyer, and get it on. 5. The renowned jerk: Everyone knows he is a player/doesn’t respect women/ thinks he is God’s gift to the earth etc. Nobody likes him. But you—well, you yearn for him. And there’s something hot about dating the bad boy. |
