Do you really think Dr dre made all that money from music, Dr co owns "Beat", The monster earphones you see most professional players use. Thats where he made all those money last year when he sold some % of the company to HTC.
adconline:

I beg to differ. Dr Dre made money than Jay-Z and P Diddy combined last year. Producers make money in the US even when u dont see then on TV. i don't know about Naija music. Producers in Nollywood are like banks cos they hire and pay actors and actresses.

Webmasters / Microsoft Offers Hefty-bounties To Hackers, Now Is The Time To Test Your Skill by kingswayz101: 6:26pm On Jun 19, 2013
BOSTON — Microsoft is looking to recruit computer geeks in its ongoing efforts to protect Windows PCs from attacks, offering rewards of as much as $150,000 to anybody who helps identify and fix major security holes in its software.

Microsoft unveiled the rewards program, one of the most generous in the high-tech industry to date, on Wednesday as it sought ways to prevent sophisticated attackers from subverting new security technologies it has introduced in the latest versions of the Windows operating system.

The program is open to computer experts as young as 14, though minors need permission from their parents. Residents of countries under U.S. sanctions, such as Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria, are banned from the program.

The sheer size of the bonus is likely to grab the attention of the hacking community, though claiming the big money will require them to do battle with Microsoft's latest anti-hacking technology and then detail their approach.

"It's pretty generous, though what they are asking for is a pretty high bar," said Chris Wysopal, chief technology officer of Veracode, a security firm that helps identify software bugs.

Microsoft has plenty of competition in getting elite hackers to turn their attention on its aging Windows franchise, which operates the vast majority of the world's personal computers.

Windows computers have been involved in most major attacks to date, including the recent Citadel cybercrime ring that stole more than $500 million from banks and the Stuxnet virus that attacked Iran's nuclear program in 2010 by exploiting previously unknown bugs in Microsoft software.

Competing for talent
The best hackers are heavily recruited by the military, intelligence agencies and big corporations, who lure them with scholarships and high-paying jobs.

Microsoft is also competing for the attention of the top hacking talent on a growing global gray market, where information about vulnerabilities is sold to criminals as well as governments that use it in military and intelligence operations. Bounties start at $50,000 for tools that enable attackers to break into computers, even when they are protected by up-to-date security software.

In the industry, exploits of such vulnerabilities are called "zero-days," because a targeted software maker has had zero days' notice to fix the hole when the malicious software is eventually discovered.

Mike Reavey, senior director with the Microsoft Security Response Center, declined in an interview to talk about the "zero day" market for vulnerabilities in Windows products, saying the company was seeking to encourage hackers to use their skills in helpful ways.

"It's difficult to comment on the dark side," he said. "The intention of these (bounty) programs is to incentivize good behavior."

Reavey said he hoped Microsoft's new program would woo some candidates away from an annual contest known as Pwn2Own (pronounced "pown to own"wink, which has become a key venue for elite hackers to disclose major security flaws in software.

The latest Pwn2Own, which was held in Vancouver in March and sponsored by Hewlett-Packard Co, paid out nearly $480,000 in prize money, according to HP's website.

Hackers won the competition by identifying new ways to "pwn," or take ownership of, browsers from Microsoft, Firefox and Google, Oracle's Java and Adobe's Flash and Reader software.

Some other big technology firms already offer similar programs. Google has handed out $1.7 million in 3 years, including prizes as big as $60,000. Facebook said it has paid out $500,000 to $1 million since it began its program two years ago. Adobe does not offer bounties, though it brings in hackers as temporary consultants to help fix problems that they identify.

Microsoft is also running a one-month contest, starting July 26, offering bounties of up to $11,000 to hackers who find bugs in the trial version of its new Internet Explorer 11 browser, which will be in preview release.

bara pistis: i think does guys dont have enough advertisers,
i keep on seeing thos addynamo shit on my site and am already looking out for a replacement
Webmasters / Re: Addynamo Vs Adsense by kingswayz101: 8:01am On Jun 17, 2013
One thing i like about ad dynamo is their support team and how fast you get paid, besides you dont easily get banned (may be that would change in the near future since they are still some how new)....however adsence has lots of advertisers compared to ad-dynamo, like i said earlier they have good paying advertisers from South Africa, which is where they are headquartered.I think they do have offices in Nigeria also. They are equally good in targeting top blogs in Nigeria if you want to advertise
Webmasters / Re: Addynamo Vs Adsense by kingswayz101: 7:01am On Jun 15, 2013
Addynamo works well if you have good traffics from South Africa,UK and i think Nigeria. some clicks can earn you 200 naira. And the payment is always on time, but i dont really think they can be compared to google addsence for now
S.GRACE:
Ad dynamo vs Google Adsense - Which is better?
Hey warriors, I recently stumbled across addynamo - an advertising network like google adsense. By first look i feel its a good alternative but not sure yet. If anyone on warrior forum have used it please share your views on this ad network. I signed up as a publisher and added their code in the sidebar my website.
Is it legit ? If yes please tell us more about "addynamo" and how it is different from "google adsense".
Thank You in advance.

Webmasters / Google Raises Cash Bounty For Reporting Vulnerabilities In Its Services by kingswayz101: 8:39am On Jun 08, 2013
Google takes security seriously; so much so that it is willing to pay a bounty to anyone who manages to find a vulnerability in any of its services. The company began offering these payouts a couple of years ago, and now, it has announced that it is increasing the amounts and changing some of the rules for the program.

Any cross-site scripting bug found on Google Accounts is getting a huge increase from $3,133.70 to $7,500. The same type of bugs spotted in other sensitive areas like Google Wallet and Gmail has more than tripled, going all the way from $1,337 to $5000. Normal Google properties also sees a bump from $500 to $3,133.70. A significant authentication bypass and information leak discovered now pays $7,500, up from $5,000.

All of the other payouts remain the same, with an overall range of anywhere from $100 for typical XSS on non-integrated acquisitions and other lower priority sites, to $20,000 for remote code execution on Google Accounts.

The rules page for the program points out that not all bugs will qualify for the payout, and each will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Among other things the page offers a list of "common low-risk issues" that typically do not earn a monetary reward.

Since introducing the program in November 2010, Google says it has seen 1,500 qualifying vulnerability reports spanning its services. It has paid $828,000 to more than 250 individuals. Some bug finders have chosen to double their payout by donating the funds to charity, instead of taking it themselves. With the change in fees, it is likely that we will see an even higher figure overall coming from the search giant in the next few years.

Business / 10 Pieces Of Advice From Successful Canadian Entrepreneurs by kingswayz101: 9:14am On Jun 05, 2013
Here's some of the best advice that these entrepreneurs dished when Profit asked for business-building tips relevant to both up-and-comers and seasoned entrepreneurs:

1. "Just because you own a business doesn't make you an entrepreneur. A lot of people find themselves running businesses out of circumstance, and they're miserable. You're not an entrepreneur because you started a business, but because it's what you were born to do." — Kevin Gauci, Optimus SBR.

2. "Success is based on three factors: You have to do something you're good at, that you love, and that you can make money at. I doesn't matter which business you decide to go into; lack of any one of these factors will typically be sufficient grounds for failure." — Dan O'Toole, Phoenix System.

3. "Make sure you're truly passionate about your business. As in marriage, you need to make sure you're truly in love; otherwise, you won't succeed." — Albert Iannantuono, Tri-Media Integrated Marketing Technologies.

4. "It is extremely important to partner with people who help complete your skill sets. It is a big mistake for entrepreneurs to launch with a few friends who all have the same capacities, such as three engineers or three salespeople." — Didier Gombert, Objectif Lune.

5. "Figure out your competitive advantage. I had a professor who said, 'Be first, be better, be cheaper—or don't bother.'" —Neil McDonnell, Wurldtech Security Technologies.

6. "Know what your exit strategy is before you even start." — Andrew Au, CWC Well Services.

7. "Don't be afraid to fail. Failure makes us grow up." — Yves Perron, Sourcevolution.

8. "Whatever you're thinking, think bigger. Don't limit yourself." — Keith McIntosh, PQA Testing.

9. "Don't dilute your vision. A lot of people start a business and then say, 'Oh, what about this opportunity or that opportunity?' And they start to lose the focus on what got them into that business. If you're selling handles, then get really, really, really good at selling handles. Don't think that just because you sell handles, you can also sell doors." — Feras Elkhalil, WPCG.

10. "I think that advice is highly overrated." — Sally Daub, ViXS Systems.

Gaming / Zynga Lays Off 18% Of Its Workforce:-blog.afriquehost.net by kingswayz101: 8:37am On Jun 04, 2013
As part of a major effort to trim costs and focus more on mobile strategy, online gaming company Zynga is laying off 520 staffers — or about 18% of its workforce, according to a company press release.

The company, which is now expected to save $80 million in employee costs, will also close its offices in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas. The reductions will occur across all job divisions and be complete by August 2013, the company said.

"None of us ever expected to face a day like today, especially when so much of our culture has been about growth," CEO and Founder Mark Pincus wrote to employees in a memo. "But I think we all know this is necessary to move forward. The scale that served us so well in building and delivering the leading social gaming service on the Web is now making it hard to successfully lead across mobile and multiplatform, which is where social games are going to be played."

Pincus emphasized the importance of mobile for the success of the company moving forward:

"These moves, while hard to face today, represent a proactive commitment to our mission of connecting the world through games," he said. "Mobile and touch screens are revolutionizing gaming. Our opportunity is to make mobile gaming truly social by offering people new, fun ways to meet, play and connect. By reducing our cost structure today we will offer our teams the runway they need to take risks and develop these breakthrough new social experiences."

Zynga also updated its outlook for the second quarter of 2013 to a net loss of $39 million to $28.5 million. In April, it reported a strong performance of its game Farmville 2, which boasts more than 40 million monthly users, but the company said overall active and daily users were down 13% in the same quarter from the year before.

Science/Technology / German Railway Company To Test Anti Graffiti Drones by kingswayz101: 9:02pm On Jun 01, 2013
Dont know which section to post this,

German national railway company Deutsche Bahn has come up with an ambitious plan to try and curb graffiti artists – drones. No, these aren’t the same drones that drop missiles or bombs. Instead, these stealth flying machines would be equipped with infrared cameras designed to capture vandals in the process.

The drones in question are four-rotor, battery-powered helicopters that can fly for up to 80 minutes on a single charge. They can travel up to 25 miles on autopilot and can hit a top speed of about 34 mph. What's more, the drones can hover nearly 500 feet off the ground in near-silence.

Each would cost roughly 60,000 euros which seems like a substantial amount of money just to help deter some vandals but when you factor in the 14,000 incidents of graffiti reported in 2012 that cost 7.6 million euros to clean up, it could be a cost-effective option.

Deutsche Bahn will start testing the drones over the coming weeks, we’re told. The company hopes to be able to dispatch security personnel in real-time and use photographic evidence to help build a case against culprits in court.

This all sounds great from the outside but one must not forget that Germany has very strict privacy / anti-surveillance laws – so much so that Google elected to abandon Street View imagery in the country a few years back. As such, the use of camera-equipped drones is likely to cause a pretty big stink with authorities.

Webmasters / 10 Common Reasons Why New Startup Businesses Fail by kingswayz101: 6:06pm On May 31, 2013
http://blog.afriquehost.net/2013/05/10-common-reasons-why-new-startup-businesses-fail/

The thought of launching a new startup business can be exciting and running a successful business can lead to the financial freedom, on the other hand, this can equally be risky and success is not always guaranteed. Businesses are most vulnerable during startup phase. According to statistics published by the Small Business Administration (SBA), seven out of ten new employer establishments survive at least two years and 51 percent survive at least five years. These figures shouldn’t really scare you but they are meant to prepare you for the challenges faced by entrepreneurs starting up a new business venture, this article looks at the common errors or mistakes new business owners make which can lead to business failures, it is meant to prepare you and help you succeed in your new business venture

Top 10 reasons Why New Startup Businesses Fail

1. Lack of planning

As a new business owner, you have two major responsibilities: looking after your new businesses and planning for the future growth of the business. Planning is very crucial for any business not just for a startup, it is through planning that you can be able to identify new opportunities and be able to take advantage of them, planning puts you in a position to take better decisions and be able to take necessary actions for the growth and sustainability of your new business. As the old saying goes, failures do not plan to fail, but they fail to plan.

2. Wrong Reasons for Starting your business

While launching a new business in order to become rich seems like a good idea, this reason alone can lead to an unfulfilling experience, it is important to venture into schemes that can bring you great fortune and possibly make you very wealthy but you also need to strike a balance between profitability of the business and passion, interest or drive that goes with it, it is that drive that keeps you going when the going gets tough especially at the early startup phase.

3. Expanding too Quickly

One major cause of business failure is when new businesses try to expand too quickly, this often occur when new entrepreneurs confuse success of a new business with how fast they can expand, there’s a saying that goes: “Slow and steady wins the race” but it’s also essential to act in a way that doesn’t repress growth by being too slow.

4. Marketing the wrong people

While it’s essential to promote or market your products and services, it’s essential that you promote it to the right people, not just to anyone you see, it’ll be a complete waste of time to sell to people that do not need your products.

5. Not carving out a niche / Not having a clear direction

You need to know the direction you want to go right from the onset and work towards that, sometimes it doesn’t aways go as planned and you have to be willing to make the necessary adjustments along the way, you also need to carve out your market niche and try become a leader in that market, don’t try to copy or replicate what everybody is doing, “observe the masses and do the opposite” this implies carving out a niche and trying to become a leader in that area by being different, by being unique, by being YOU, try and be unique and stay unique, there’s nothing wrong with trying a few things here and there to find out what works but always remember to streamline and focus on a few things that you can do later, as Steve Jobs puts it:

“People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I’m actually as proud of the things we haven’t done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.”

6. Inefficient Management

The problem faced by most new businesses is inefficiency and not having a clear knowledge of what the business is all about, this can sometimes lead to reckless decisions. Solution to this is proper education and training, you can either train yourself or hire those who have expertise in the fields where you are lacking.

7. Not Getting Adequate Funding

This is the single most common reason why startup businesses fail, every business needs cashflow and when that much needed cash has dried up before the business starts making money, the business prospects doesn’t look good, you need extra cash to cushion the effects any unplanned contingencies that might crop up during your journey to success.

8. No Online Presence

In this age and time, online presence is very essential for any business to succeed, you can hire a web designer or programmer to get you up and running. Social media presence is also essential, you can create free accounts on Facebook, Twitter, etc

9. Hiring the wrong people

The quality of the people you hire will determine how successful your business will become, hire the right people and you have a successful business and vice versa.

10. Bad Luck

Luck is where opportunity meets preparation but there are times when that opportunity is either delayed or not just coming, there may also be times when all the necessary preparations has been made and unforeseen circumstances beyond our control could result to business failure and we call it bad luck.

I think you should either rename this folder /admin/ or password protect it
add .htaccess to this folders image/ catalog/. Note that this are just the few i can say now...this would lower the hack risk. Note that opencart is an open source script and therefore is very easy to hack just like wordpress.org so you must work on security very well.Try some known hack techniques on it..do a Vulnerability‎ scan on the site. That doesn't still make it 100% hack proof.Hope this help
