EducationFG Loans ₦11.8Billion To 6,842 Tertiary Institution Workers by Kingzjayzee(op): 12:00pm On May 05
The Federal Government has disbursed N11.8bn to 6,842 academic and non-academic staff across Nigerian tertiary institutions under the Tertiary Institutions Staff Support Fund.

The beneficiaries span 141 institutions, including federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

The TISSF, launched in August 2025, is a Federal Ministry of Education and TETFund-funded programme dedicated to enhancing the well-being, career development and financial stability of tertiary institution staff across Nigeria.

The joint initiative of the FME and TETFund aims to deliver zero per cent interest loans to enhance the welfare, career development and financial stability of tertiary institution staff.

The fund provides interest-free loans of up to N10m to eligible academic and non-academic staff.

Data published on the website of the Federal Ministry of Education, obtained by our correspondent, showed that there have been 34,000 verified applicants from 219 institutions so far.

Staff members of federal universities constitute the highest number of applicants (59 per cent), followed by those of polytechnics (23 per cent) and colleges of education (18 per cent).

Also under the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative, 240 e-tricycles are reported to have been distributed across 12 institutions.

Key facts published on the website include: “Loans up to N10m per staff (0% interest); N11.8bn disbursed to 6,842 beneficiaries from 141 institutions.

34,000 verified applicants from 219 institutions; Federal universities (59%), polytechnics (23%), COEs (18%); minimum five years to retirement required for eligibility.”

Other ongoing programmes under the initiative include the EduRevamp Teacher Platform, a digital training system introduced earlier this year to strengthen educators’ skills, and the School Safety Portal, developed in partnership with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to improve security management in schools.

The ministry said the EduRevamp platform, launched at the first National Teacher Summit in January 2026, has recorded “37,000 registered users, with 18,000 teachers fully enrolled in its training modules.”

The platform provides audio and video lessons, case studies and certification opportunities for continuous professional development.

The School Safety Portal, created under the School Safety Act of 2025, currently contains data on more than 156,000 geolocated schools.

PoliticsAbuja Pastor Omakwu Kneels, Begs Wike Over Jabi Lake Land by Kingzjayzee(op): 10:16am On May 04
The Senior Pastor of Family Worship Centre, Abuja, Sarah Omakwu, has appealed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, not to allocate the Jabi Lake recreation area for private development.

Omakwu made the appeal in a video shared on her Instagram page on Sunday, where she was seen kneeling on the pulpit while addressing the minister.

I cannot fight the minister of the FCT. I cannot. But I go on my knees as a mother in this land that Jabi Lake Recreation Centre should not be given to anybody.

That is where people go for exercise. That is where people sell. That is where people meet and hobnob and get married.

That is where people go to watch games. That is where young people go to. I beg you, Mr Minister, in the name of God, as a mother, to not sell that land to anybody,” she said.

She also cited concerns over past developments in Abuja, recalling how public access to Aso Rock was restricted over time.

Omakwu urged the minister to preserve the Jabi Lake area as a public space for residents.

I can’t fight you. But I can beg you in the name of God Almighty that that land be left for everybody. I beg you. Please heed our call,” she stated.

Despite her appeal, she commended the minister for ongoing infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory.

She said, “I want to thank you for all the highways you have built around the city. I thank you. You have made my journey to my home a whole lot easier. Thank you for the other things you are doing. But for this piece of land, I beg you, let it go.”

Her comments come months after the Federal Capital Territory Administration signed agreements with private firms to transform Jabi Lake into a major recreational hub.

In February, the FCTA, under Wike, entered into a development partnership with Suburban Broadband Limited and Akida Hills Limited to upgrade the facility and boost tourism in Abuja.

The minister had said the initiative was aimed at repositioning the nation’s capital as a destination for leisure and economic activities.

PoliticsOmoyele Sowore: Workers Earn Least, Non-workers Earn More by Kingzjayzee(op): 2:48am On May 03
Nigerian human rights activists and Politician, Sowore, have opened up about his displeasure with how most people who work in Nigeria earn less than people who don’t actually work.

He explained about the unfortunate snerior in Nigeria whereby most people who work so harf earn less than the people that doesn’t meet to standard.

This he directed to Senators whom he identified to be earning over 30 million monthly while the people that actually works hard earn least of what Senators earn. He described this scenario as one of the disturbing problems most Nigerians face that has so destabilized the economy. He vowed that he ought to stop this by all means as it’s one of the major tolls of the Nigerian economic problem.

His words:

In this country, the people that are working are the least paid, and the ones who don’t work are the well paid. Let me break it down for you.”

An average senator in Nigeria earns over ₦30 million per month and only goes to work about 10 times in a month. Sometimes, they don’t even show up at all. But they take home in one month the salary of a worker who has worked for 35 years.”

An average worker cannot afford to eat, cannot afford to buy medicine, or send their children to school, yet they work every day.”

The greatest work on our hands now is to drive away the enemies of workers who are occupying positions of power in this country…”

Nigerians couldn’t hold their nerves and reacted massively on all social media platforms according to their views.

Foreign AffairsKenyan President Takes Swipe At Nigerians’ Spoken English by Kingzjayzee(op): 8:23am On Apr 29
Kenyan President William Ruto has defended his country’s education system and command of the English language, while taking a swipe at Nigerians’ spoken English.

Ruto made the remarks while addressing Kenyans living in Italy in a video circulating on Thursday.

He said Kenya’s education system produces strong English proficiency and claimed difficulty understanding Nigerians when they speak English.

Our education is good. Our English is good. We speak some of the best English in the world. If you listen to a Nigerian speaking, you don’t know what they are saying. You need a translator.”

We have some of the best human capital anywhere in the world. We just need to sharpen it with more training,” he said in a video first posted by Kenyan Digital News on April 20.

While Ruto did not make a direct reference to any specific comment, some online interpretations suggested the remarks may be in response to comments made earlier this month by President Bola Tinubu.

Let’s just thank God together that you are better off listening to them in Kenya and other African countries. What they are going through,” Tinubu said while inaugurating projects executed by Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri in Yenagoa, the state capital.

The remarks come amid broader economic pressures across Africa, including rising fuel prices linked to global supply disruptions, partly driven by tensions in the Middle East and concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route.

The exchange has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many users criticising both the comparison and the tone of the remarks.

On X, user L! | Muslimah in Tech wrote, “OMG, Kenya don de sub us. Who we offend? Before na foreign country de give statistics up and down, now our fellow African counterpart said we no Sabi speak beta English.”

Another user, Tzalmon, said, “Tinubu has reduced us to a laughing stock, the other day it was the Ghanaian president and now Kenya’s president, and who knows perhaps we’d get a lash from Somalia one of these days.”

However, Ephrem said, “🇬🇧 colonised 🇳🇬 for 99 years and 🇰🇪 for 68 years, and both countries still have challenges to address. 🇮🇳 under British rule for around 200 years; English not being universally strong, it has achieved significant economic progress English isn’t necessarily a measure of success.”

Throwing a jab at Ruto, Joshua Obi wrote, “This man is a complete slowpoke, when does language become a yardstick to measure good education… You demote your language and speak in other tongue other than your mother’s tongue, then you look back and say you’re educated. You lack common human intelligence.”

On Youtube, @cyruschesilim1715 wrote, “😂😂😂but hating Ruto is hard…what does a Nigerian do!!!

@alexkibe4179 said, “Kasongo has brought back the Nigerian war.”

Kenya has also experienced economic challenges in recent times, including widespread anti-government protests in 2024 over proposed tax hikes, which led President Ruto to withdraw a finance bill and reshuffle his cabinet under public pressure.

CrimeViral Video Sparks Debate Online After Disturbing Public Scene Surfaces by Kingzjayzee(op): 2:25pm On Apr 08
A disturbing video currently making the rounds on social media has sparked widespread reactions and heated conversations among online users.

The footage, reportedly shared by a Facebook user, shows two individuals—a male and a female—engaging in an explicit act in what appears to be an open public space. The video has drawn significant attention, with many viewers expressing shock and concern over the incident.

At the time of reporting, it remains unclear whether the individuals involved are mentally unstable, under the influence of hard substances, or facing other underlying challenges. In the background of the video, a male voice can reportedly be heard chanting phrases suggesting the possible use of a psychotropic substance locally referred to as “kolos,” though this has not been independently verified.

Observers have raised serious concerns about public safety, mental health awareness, and the growing circulation of sensitive content on social media platforms without proper context or verification. Others have also questioned the ethics of recording and sharing such moments instead of seeking help for vulnerable individuals who may be in distress.

Authorities have not yet issued any official statement regarding the video, and the authenticity and exact location of the incident remain unconfirmed as of press time.

Viewers are strongly advised to exercise discretion, as the video contains explicit content that may be disturbing to some audiences.

As the clip continues to trend, the incident highlights the ongoing challenges of content moderation, public responsibility, and the role of social media users in handling sensitive material responsibly.
