Celebrities › Nigerian DJs Ban Burna Boy’s Songs From Playlists After Clash With DJ Tunez by Kingzjayzee(op): 1:04pm On Apr 08 |
The Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) has announced a ban on music by Afrobeats star Burna Boy following a reported physical altercation involving him and fellow Disc Jockey, DJ Tunez.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats gathering in Lagos.
According to accounts, what started as a heated argument between Burna Boy and DJ Tunez escalated into a physical confrontation. Members of Burna Boy’s team were alleged to have joined the fray before bystanders stepped in to restore calm.
While the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, speculation on social media suggests it may be linked to longstanding industry rivalries, particularly DJ Tunez’s close association with Wizkid, who is often compared to Burna Boy by fans.
In response to the incident, the NDJ released a detailed statement on Instagram condemning discrimination and hostility, while urging unity within the entertainment industry.
“No one is born hating another because of the skin colour, religion, background or gender. People simply learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can also be taught to love since love comes naturally to the human heart than its opposite,” the statement reads.
“Please note: That Here at NigerianDJ, we put all our DJs first, standing firm on “ALL DJs are EQUAL”, offering a transparent and personal service to help our DJs and clients achieve their goals and ambitions, both in Home 🇳🇬 and in Diaspora.
“Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? Such are the places where every Male and Female #NDJ seek equal justice, equal opportunity and equal dignity without discrimination, irrespective of where it’s coming from, be it from a fellow NDJ or NON NDJ.
“Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere. Without concerned our #NDJ actions to uphold them close to home, we shall look in vain for progress in the larger world of DJing in Nigeria as a whole.”
“However, We plead with all communities #NDJ to please be tolerant—to reject prejudice based on cast, creed, sect, religion or gender. To please ensure freedom and equality for all the DJs nationwide, so that they can flourish. We cannot all succeed when half of us are being held back.
“The NigerianDJ is fully against the Discrimination of any of its #NDJ.”
The association concluded by announcing a boycott of Burna Boy’s music across its network pending further investigation.
“Burna Boy Music is temporary out of any of our DJs playlist till further notice, our team will carry out a proper investigation on last night incident that happened to one of our own, DJ Tunez,” it added. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2026/04/nigerian-djs-ban-burna-boys-songs-from-playlists-after-clash-with-dj-tunez/

An autopsy report has revealed the cause of death of 22-year-old Afrofuji singer, Afeez Adesina, aka Destiny Boy, Daily Trust reports.Destiny Boy, a promising young Afrofuji artist known for blending traditional Yoruba Fuji sounds with modern Afrobeats, died on January 17, 2026, in what has been described as controversial circumstances, triggering outrage and demand for an autopsy. Following his death, videos shared widely on social media showed what appeared to be his body being transported to a mortuary, triggering rumours about what may have led to his death. In one of the videos, the artiste was seen lying in the back of a vehicle, with cotton wool placed in his nostrils and ears. An attempt to clarify the circumstances surrounding his passing was later made in a separate video by an unidentified associate, who said the singer had been battling a private health challenge. “ God, I want to do this video before people start saying rubbish about Destiny Boy’s cause of death. We all came to this life to write our own history. May God rest his soul. Destiny was nursing a health issue in his body before he died. We tried for him, but he didn’t make it,” the man said. Family members said the singer had been living with a long-term illness, which they said caused him to have seizures. In an online video, his mother, Saida, stated that the family had sought both medical and traditional treatment for the condition.
Social media commentators, while sending condolence messages, also questioned the circumstances of his death. Following the controversy, the Ogun State Police Command later disclosed the arrest of one suspect in connection with his death. The command also said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for detailed investigation. In a statement, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, said, “ The Ogun State Police Command has since commenced investigations into the death of Adesina Afeez, aged 22 years, popularly known as Destiny Boy.
“ The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for detailed investigation. One suspect is currently in custody while investigationsvare ongoing.” AUTOPSY REPORT, TWO MONTHS AFTER
Findings by Daily Trust revealed that the case file had been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice, but pending the advice, the Police Homicide Section conducted an autopsy. It was further gathered that the autopsy report was released about a week ago. When contacted on Friday, the Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that the autopsy report had been released. According to him, the report revealed harmful levels of tramadol and its metabolites, as well as methamphetamine, in the deceased’s body,The report concluded that the cause of death was “ aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of these toxic substances.” The terse statement made available to Daily Trust reads: “ The Consultant Anatomic Pathologist reported that toxicology results revealed harmful levels of tramadol and its metabolites, as well as methamphetamine, and opined that the cause of death was aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of these toxic substances, with the date of death being 17/01/2026.” The singer began to gain prominence after releasing his Fuji cover of Davido’s ‘If’ in 2019, which attracted massive traction on social media. He also delivered covers of songs by artistes like Tekno, 2Baba, 9ice, and Small Doctor. Destiny Boy also released songs such as ‘ Lamba’, ‘ One Transaction’, ‘ Gbese’, ‘ Billion Dollar’, ‘ Mio Gbonkankan’, and ‘ Lowkey’. The singer and Iremide, his partner, welcomed their first child together in November 2024. https://dailytrust.com/autopsy-report-reveals-cause-of-singer-destiny-boys-death

Crime › …avenge Your Death – Jos Mother Gives Dead Son Cutlass by Kingzjayzee(op): 8:32am On Apr 04 |
Mrs Favour Ayuba, the bereaved mother of late Promise, who was killed by suspected terrorists in Jos, Plateau State, has told her late son to avenge his death. In a viral video seen by one of our correspondents on Friday, the woman, speaking in an emotion-laden voice, said she had not eaten since the Palm Sunday terror attack that claimed his life. Mrs Ayuba was earlier seen in a viral video clip crying while clutching to the lifeless body of her son, who had been hit by terrorists’ bullets. The latest violence in Plateau State occurred on March 29, Palm Sunday, in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North Local Government Area, where gunmen attacked residents, killing at least 24 people and leaving several others injured. Speaking in Hausa, Mrs Ayuba brought out a cutlass wrapped in a white cloth, which she had hidden under her garment. She placed it in her son’s coffin, as she sought vengeance. She said, “ If you want me to forget, baby, avenge your death. I carried you in my womb for nine months; you suckled at my breast. Baby, I trust you revenge for me, revenge for me. Please, wherever they are, follow them and avenge your death.” Speaking amid intermittent sobbing in the background of the video, Mrs Ayuba made reference to the biblical story of Gideon, who went to war and returned victorious. “ Today (Thursday) is your birthday. I am grateful to God that today is your birthday, baby. You don’t like seeing me in tears, and I will not weep for you. Baby, I have not eaten since Sunday.“ I am begging you, because you have not warmed food for me to eat, but from today I promise you I will eat. I have a gift for you, baby. I trust you; I named you Promise Gideon Ayuba. Gideon in the Bible went to war and came back victorious,” she added. https://punchng.com/avenge-your-death-jos-mother-gives-dead-son-cutlass/

Politics › Nigeria Is Doomed If APC, Tinubu Retain Power In 2027 — Babachir Lawal by Kingzjayzee(op): 9:58pm On Apr 01 |
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has declared that Nigeria will be doomed if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is re-elected into power in 2027.
Babachir Lawal made the assertion in Bauchi on Tuesday, at the Ramat House, Presidential Lodge of Government House, after a closed-door meeting with the Governor of Bauchi State, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Abubakar Y Suleiman, Deputy National Chairman of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hamza Koshe Akuyam, State Chairman, Pharmacist Samaila Adamu Burga, and members of the State Executive Council on the possibility of joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking, he stated that “We are here in Bauchi today at the instance of our leader, Senator David Mark, the national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”
According to him, “Senator Mark sent us here because he’s fully aware that the coming battle between us in 2027 to elect new people to lead Nigeria can only be successful if all the various segments of the country that have good intentions and goodwill towards the Nigerians are able to unite to stand and resist the impending disaster that is waiting for us in 2027.”
He stressed that, “We are fully aware that if we make a mistake and allow this government to continue post-2027, Nigeria will probably be no more as we know it.”
“By then, we probably will be packing people of starvation in trailers. By then, we’ll be packing people in trailers who are unable to afford medical services and everything, and the insurgency will get to the level that they will be running from room to room, harassing and killing and maiming people,” he added.
The former Scribe added, “So, with this in mind, Senator David Mark sent us to speak to the current Bauchi State Governor to join the ADC because he’s a noted fighter; he’s a warrior; he’s fearless. And his synergies will contribute to what we already have in ADC. And so that’s why we are here.”
According to him, “We’ve had very fruitful discussions in a very friendly, brotherly manner. We understand the task before every Nigerian and the task before Kauram Bauchi as a Governor, that, when he joins ADC, he will be one of our field commanders. And that’s why we are here. And as I said, we’ve received a very warm reception, and we thank you for it. And we hope that the subsequent discussions will be concluded by our massive registration of the people of Bauchi, as did happen in Kano yesterday.”
He concluded, “We know that the entry of Kauram Bauchi into ADC will frighten this government to the extent that they will manipulate the situation and what they intend to do to rig the 2027 elections. But we are all Nigerians, and we know the strength of every one of us. We are confident that if we carry our agenda, we will have invited the state party-ready people to confront this government, and victory will be ours. Thank you very much.”
In his response, Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, stated, “The elder statesman has said it all. I’m here this morning with a delegation from the ADC headquarters, where my mentor, my boss, Senator David Mark, is leading, and he has sent an olive leaf to me to reconnect me with the umbilical cord of the opposition, where I have always emerged from.”
Bala Mohammed lamented, “Sadly, as a leader in the PDP, we have found ourselves really in a very serious ambivalence, where our party is headless, and of course, I have pursued all avenues for reconciliation, but it has not worked, and our people are putting me under extreme pressure.”
According to him, “And we have set up two committees, one in Abuja at the national level, because of my position as a leader of the party on the other side, and one here in Bauchi, to look at where to go. We laid all our options on the ground, including the APC itself, but sadly, we have discovered that we cannot be where we are not wanted. We have to find a place within the opposition.”
“That’s where our future and political destiny are taking us. And ADC appears to be a very enduring and, of course, alluring and more acceptable platform by the people that are talking to me so far. And because I’m managing two constituencies, both here and the federal, so that we don’t make mistakes. And that’s where we are,” he added.
The governor further stated, “We are very grateful for that recognition, because when you are facing a very serious political problem like ours, and somebody offers a hand, we are very modest, and our humility is so that we are nothing until we go to the field.”
He stressed, “We believe in winning elections, and elections are done at the polling unit, and won at the polling unit, and we are not scared of anybody. We have done all we could do to be able to go for self-preservation, to sketch it, and of course, I am a political participant, but it is not working.”
Bala Mohammed added, “Therefore, we have to face the challenges of this existential solution that is being provided to us by ADC. We, on behalf of the people and government of Bauchi State, and indeed the PDP, the other party that helped me to scout, thank the National Chairman of the ADC for offering this opportunity to us.”
The ADC delegation included former minister Sen Batagarwa, Sen Tunde Ogbeha, and other leaders of the party. https://www.google.com/amp/s/tribuneonlineng.com/nigeria-is-doomed-if-apc-tinubu-retain-power-in-2027-babachir-lawal/amp/%3ffbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQMMzUwNjg1NTMxNzI4AAEef1d7I7o8Gm5B-gCkZZmQ1_tKC-objVMC31Z4p1yTG-uDSzCg16C0sPjt7ko_aem_yTapxzUF73NU9zIoZYYgbQ

Politics › Arise News Anchor, Constance Ikokwu Joins Politics by Kingzjayzee(op): 7:28pm On Apr 01 |
Arise News Anchor and Analyst Dr. Chiogo Constance Ikokwu has announced her leave of absence from the profession to join politics.Respected and known for her strong track record in holding power to account and amplifying public interest issues, Dr. Ikokwu said the move is driven by firsthand experience of governance gaps, and knowledge that our country is strengthened when thoughtful, competent people step in to contribute, not stand on the sidelines.
The decision reflects a growing sentiment that professionals with ideas, integrity, and a deep understanding of societal challenges should take a more active role in shaping policy and leadership, rather than remaining observers from the sidelines.
Dr. Ikokwu, who is from Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, hopes to be given a chance to represent her community in the House of Representatives.
According to her, “This transition is, for me, a continuation of service, just on a different platform. I have had the privilege of telling the stories that shape our nation, holding power to account, amplifying underrepresented voices, and helping citizens make sense of complex issues. This journey has sharpened my understanding of our country’s challenges and opportunities, and it has reinforced my belief that informed, ethical leadership is essential to progress. It is from this vantage point that I have made the difficult but necessary decision to step into the political arena.”
She continued, “My experience as a journalist has not only given me insight into governance but has also connected me directly to the everyday realities of our people – their frustrations, resilience, and aspirations. I have seen firsthand where policy succeeds and where it falls short, and I believe that those who understand these gaps must be willing to step forward and help close them. Politics should not be left only to career politicians; it must also be shaped by individuals with fresh ideas, integrity, and a genuine commitment to public service.”
Dr. Ikokwu said that she hopes her decision sends a broader message that more Nigerians who care deeply about our future, and who possess the ideas and capacity to improve it, should consider active participation in politics.
She noted that this is a defining moment in Nigeria, which calls for courage and collective responsibility. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2026/04/arise-news-anchor-constance-ikokwu-joins-politics/

Celebrities › Seun Kuti Sparks Debate: Lumumba, Nkrumah, Biko’s Sacrifice Greater Than Jesus’ by Kingzjayzee(op): 5:54pm On Apr 01 |
Seun Kuti, a Nigerian artist and son to Afrobeats legend, Fela Kuti, has stirred up controversy by comparing the courage and sacrifice of African heroes with that of Jesus Christ. The artist, while speaking in a video, lauded African heroes for their strength and courage in the face of oppression and corruption. He claimed that the religious sacrifice celebrated by Christians worldwide is not as great as the sacrifice of Lumumba, Sankara and his father, Fela Kuti. Seun claimed that African heroes dies knowing they would not be resurrected, adding that Jesus knew he would be brought back to life after three days. “ The sacrifice of Lumumba is greater to me than the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ knew he was going to wake up after three days, but the people that died for me; Lumumba, Sankara, my father, Nkrumah, Steve Biko, these people died knowing they would never wake up, and they still died. They’ve dehumanized us for so long they believe we are all animals. We need to prove to them that we are humans. From today, no matter what they come with, stand your ground!,” he stated. https://pmnewsnigeria.com/2026/04/01/seun-kuti-speaks-on-sacrifice-of-african-heroes-compares-them-with-jesus/

Tijani Fatai, the commissioner of police in Lagos, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of officers of the state environmental sanitation and special offences unit (task force) from traffic control and contravention enforcement.
In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, Abimbola Adebisi, police spokesperson in Lagos, said the directive is part of ongoing efforts to streamline traffic management operations and ensure professionalism, accountability, and clarity in the discharge of duties.
“It is important to note that while the unit has been withdrawn from traffic-related responsibilities, all other assigned duties and operational mandates of the unit remain fully in force,” the statement reads.
Adebisi also urged residents and motorists to verify the identity of enforcement personnel before making allegations.
“The Command also wishes to enlighten members of the public that the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit is not the only task force operating within Lagos State,” he said.
“Residents and motorists are therefore strongly advised to always verify the identity of personnel and agencies before making allegations or assertions, particularly in matters relating to traffic enforcement.
“The Lagos State Police Command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property while ensuring that all operations within the state are carried out in accordance with the law and best practices.

Career › Re: You Can Earn Salary For 30 Years And Still Retire With Nothing — Here’s Why by Kingzjayzee: 3:01am On Apr 01 |
WiseBizInvestor: Thank you, I appreciate that. The reality is that many people don’t have an income problem — they have an asset problem. A salary, no matter how consistent, is designed for survival and comfort, not necessarily for long-term wealth. Without converting part of that income into assets that can grow and produce value, I can tell you that it’s very easy to spend decades working and still end up with little to show for it.
That’s why the real shift is from just earning to owning. And not just owning anything, but owning productive assets — things that can generate income whether you are actively working or not and especially many years in the future when you no more have the strenght to work. Some assets require constant input to keep producing, while others are structured to deliver value over long periods with proper management. This is where many people begin to rethink their strategy once they understand how wealth is actually built over time.
If you've read my postulation above thus far, you'll now understand that asset class that quietly fits into this long-term thinking is perennial agriculture. Crops like cocoa and oil palm are not just farming activities — they are long-term income systems. Yes, such becomes a revenue system for you... such plantation that you only plant once, nurture to maturity, and they can keep producing harvests every year for decades. It’s this kind of structure that turns effort today into value that can last far beyond active working years and even extend into something the next generation can benefit from. this is a master class. Highly insightful. 👏 👏 |

WiseBizInvestor: You Can Earn Salary For 30 Years And Still Retire With Nothing — Here’s Why
Many people assume that working hard and earning a salary automatically leads to financial security.
But if we look honestly at reality, that’s not always the case.
Someone can earn a decent salary for 30 years and still retire without significant assets.
Why?
Because income alone does not create wealth.
Assets do.
Income pays bills.
Assets generate income.
This is why financial planners often encourage professionals to gradually acquire assets during their working years.
These could include:
✔businesses
✔investments
✔rental properties
✔productive farmland
The key idea is that at some point, assets should start generating income alongside your salary.
That way, your financial future doesn’t depend entirely on your employer.
One interesting sector some professionals are exploring recently is perennial agriculture, where certain crops continue producing for decades once established.
The concept is simple: 👇
Instead of relying solely on career income, build assets that can continue producing value long after your working years.
For professionals here:
What asset class are you currently building outside your job? currently into pig farming. Just started last year December. |
Crime › Plateau Attack: JNI Says Four Muslims Among Slain Victims, 10 Others Missing by Kingzjayzee(op): 2:44am On Apr 01 |
In a statement on Tuesday signed by its secretary, Salim Umar, JNI, a body of Muslim groups, said it confirmed from a series of reports by parents within the Muslim community that Muslims were also victims of the attack “ The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Plateau State Chapter, regrets to confirm the death of four Muslims and reports ten others missing following the recent attack on Anguwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area. “ Following thorough investigation and reports received from Muslim communities, we have discovered that four Muslims were killed while ten are still missing. “ The bodies of the victims have been identified at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), while the ten missing persons remain unaccounted for, with their families having no contact with them since Sunday and their phone numbers switched off.“ We have also discovered that two persons are currently receiving treatment at JUTH. JNI is in touch with families of the victims. We condole with the parents of all the victims who lost their loved ones and call on the public to remain calm. We appreciate the government’s efforts in controlling the situation,“ the statement added. Kabir Yusuf, an elder brother to one of the deceased, Abubakar Yusuf, said Abubakar was killed while returning with a friend from Fobur community where they went to buy tomatoes. “ On Sunday, he went to Fobur on a motorcycle to buy tomatoes. They usually go to the farm, and that day he went with N700,000 and bought the tomatoes. “ On their way back, they were attacked in Anguwan Rukuba, but his friend who was on the back of the motorcycle sustained injuries and survived,” Mr Yusuf said. “ According to Abubakar’s friend’s narrative, the hoodlums hit him on the head and he fell to the ground,” he added. The identity of the attackers has yet to be verified and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Some residents and observers initially said the attack was targeted at Christians in the community. However, JNI’s statement now suggests that the victims cut across various beliefs. There were also reports of random retaliatory attacks by aggrieved residents, following the initial attack by the gunmen. It is unclear if the Muslims JNI referenced were killed by the gunmen or in the retaliatory attacks. Jos and many other parts of Plateau have witnessed several cases of violence, leading to hundreds of deaths in recent years. The killings are caused by several factors such as banditry, and fight for land and resources, but often take ethnic and religious colourations. The latest attack in Plateau has been condemned by many Nigerians, including President Bola Tinubu, who vowed to ensure the perpetrators are punished. “ Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village, is a heartless coward. By attacking soft targets in Jos, their objective is not only to cause harm but also trigger a spiral of reprisal attacks and further bloodletting,” the president was quoted as saying by his spokesperson. Mr Tinubu directed security agencies to intensify all efforts to pursue the perpetrators and those spreading misinformation that can inflame tensions and further endanger lives. In its condemnation, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) described the killings as “ horrific.” Majority of the victims of the attack are believed to be Christians and the attack was carried out on Palm Sunday, the last Sunday before Christians celebrate Easter. In a statement signed on Monday by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, CAN urged the government and security agencies to move beyond “ periodic reassurances” and “ temporary measures,” demanding that the perpetrators be swiftly arrested and brought to justice. “ Nigerians are tired of mourning; Nigerians are tired of statements; Nigerians want to see action,” the cleric added. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/north-central/868334-plateau-attack-jni-says-four-muslims-among-slain-victims-10-others-missing.html

Politics › Senate Approves President Tinubu’s $6 Bilion Loan Request by Kingzjayzee(op): 9:15pm On Mar 31 |
The Senate has approved President Bola Tinubu’s fresh request for a $6 billion external loan to support key national priorities.
The approval came on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, after the Senate considered a report presented by Senator Aliyu Wamakko, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts.
The request was contained in two separate letters from the President, read during plenary.
According to Mr Tinubu, out of the $6 billion, the lion’s share of $5 billion is a structured Total Return Swap (TRS) external financing programme offered by the First Abu Dhabi Bank, to be released in tranches.
The remaining $1 billion is an export finance facility from the United Kingdom, arranged by Citibank, specifically for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Lagos Port Complex and Tin Can Island Port.
The facilities are intended to support the implementation of the national budget, funding priority infrastructure projects, and refinancing existing domestic and external debts.
The President also said the loan will help the country to meet urgent financial obligations, noting that the phased drawdown of the borrowing will help ease pressure on debt servicing.
The Senate also approved the issuance of Naira-denominated federal government securities as collateral and the payment of margin obligations in US Dollars.
Earlier, it was reported that President Tinubu sought the red chamber’s approval for a significant upward review of the 2026 budget, proposing an additional N9 trillion to the Appropriation Bill.
The request, conveyed in a letter read on the Senate floor during Tuesday’s plenary by the Senate President, Mr Godswill Akpabio, would increase the budget size from the initial N58.47 trillion to N67.47 trillion.
According to the President, the proposed adjustment is aimed at strengthening fiscal transparency and ensuring more effective implementation of priority national programmes.
The development raises fresh worries about Nigeria’s debt portfolio, which has risen considerably within the three years of the Tinubu-led administration. https://businesspost.ng/economy/senate-approves-president-tinubus-6bn-loan-request/
