On the off chance that there was a word to depict the year 2016, it would be "revelation." From the recordings that caught our considerations and feelings, to the music that kept us stuck to the move floors, 2016 genuinely emerges as a year of lovely astonishments for Nigerians. And as the year comes to a close, it’s time to take our annual look at the videos and channels that defined Nigerian moments on YouTube. Taking a look at video favourites for 2016, while Nigerians joined the global community in “working” the dance floors with Rihanna, it was funny local videos by rising child star Emmanuella, AY and Jenifa that took precedence. Other local news moments like Tiwa Savage’s explosive interview, which was the 2nd most watched video also got us watching, “wow-ing” and sharing on YouTube. If anything at all, this year’s non-music list makes it even more apparent that Nigerians love a good laugh, with 8 of the top 10 trending videos being humor-themed. The much raved-about Mark Angel Comedy was the most featured with 3 of the top 10 videos in the non-music category, and all-time Nigerian favorite AYTV owned by popular comedian Ayo Makun continue to excite some of the top trending content on YouTube in Nigeria. In the music category, while the global chart hit ‘Work’ by the sultry Barbadian singer/songwriter Rihanna featuring Drake occupies the top position with over 796 million views, local music videos reign supreme, occupying 9 of the top 10 trending music videos in 2016. This year also saw young acts like Kiss Daniel, Korede Bello and Tekno Miles earning higher views. https://breaking.com.ng/nigeria/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2016/08/NYSC.jpg Prof. Olurotimi Ajayi, the Vice-Chancellor, Crawford University, Igbesa, Ogun, on Wednesday said that the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme should not be scrapped. Ajayi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the NYSC scheme was a national heritage and a symbol of Nigeria’s unity. He spoke against the backdrop of the clamour by some people that the scheme should be scrapped. NAN reports that the scheme was established in 1973 by then Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd), in a bid to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war. The scheme, set up by decree No. 24 of May 22, 1973, seeks the development of common ties among Nigerian youths and the promotion of national unity. Ajayi said that the NYSC scheme should be protected and preserved since its objective was the promotion of national unity among Nigerians, which it was fulfilling. “The NYSC scheme is fulfilling its mandate and nothing should hamper its operations; if anything, it must be guarded jealously. “The scheme was set up to achieve a target of fostering unity among the ethnic tribes in Nigeria, which it has been performing to a large extent. “I will not in any way support its scrapping because aside that of unity, it also helps the youths to visit other parts of the country. “Ordinarily, some of the youths wouldn’t have had the opportunity to travel to those places, save the scheme. But more importantly, it enables youths from across the country the opportunity to interact,” he said. The vice-chancellor said rather than abolish the scheme, the government could look at its challenges in order to put it right. “Rather than scrap the scheme, the government should look at the challenges facing the scheme such as insecurity, poor incentives and welfare of the corps members. “Government can also try to look into restructuring the scheme for better efficiency and coordination; it can be made a skill acquisition center for youths. “Corps members that are not comfortable with some parts of the country due to security reasons should not be forced to go there because the safety of the corps members comes first. “The corps members’ allowances should also be reviewed to reflect present realities,” he said. On the University’s forthcoming convocation slated for Dec. 14, Ajayi said that the number of first class graduates produced by the institution had increased by nine. He said that this was a reflection of the quality of teaching and supervision by the university. “There was an increase in the number of first class produced by the university and this is due to the increase in the number of students that are desirous of academic excellence. “The university is also not resting on its oars to ensure that its products can compete favourably with their counterparts from other universities. “We are not only seeking to promote academic excellence, but also to produce graduates with the fear of God; I mean youths that will not engage in corruption. “Our country is in dire need of responsible youths; youths that will eschew corrupt practices,’’ the vice-chancellor said. https://aimtoget.com/board/Education-/Crawford-VC-Advices-To-Scrapping-Of-NYSC.576.html cc; Ogbeche77 |

Toke Makinwa has revealed that her lessons have been learnt and she might actually consider remarrying. https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs5826887/57163613-w644-h960/toke-makinwa-makeover-2.png The popular OAP who has had mostly horrible things to say about her marital experience from her 18-month marriage to fitness trainer, Maje Ayida, says she just might give marriage another go. https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs5826882/0931662942-w408-h960/toke-makinwa-makeover-13.png Speaking during a Chat with Encomium magazine, the 31-year-old made it clear that she is no longer bitter about her failed marriage and that anything could happen. When asked if she could give marriage another shot, she said, “It was a journey, we all go through different stages, we learn from them. “Marriage is a beautiful thing. Next time we would be talking, I might be a married woman, who knows. Life is a journey. You are allowed to grow, it is a journey of growth, and be open, do what you are supposed to do when you are supposed to do it so that you can learn from your mistakes, become who you are supposed to be.” https://static.pulse.ng/img/incoming/origs5826888/9061667516-w408-h960/toke-makinwa-makeover-3.png Speaking on her perception of marriage, she said, “It is a beautiful institution. I am not coming from a bitter place, you would accept what happened. “For me, it might be a marriage, for the next person, it might be a sick child. The most important thing is what you do with what you learnt from the situation. “You are allowed to grow, it is a journey of growth, and be open, do what you are supposed to do when you are supposed to do it, so that you can learn from your mistakes, become who you are supposed to be.” Speaking further, she said, “No one should see that your life is not perfect but I am here to change that. People should see you in your worst, which is how they can appreciate your success story. People should see you when you are down and under because you would still come up. “If you reach the bottom, there is only one place to go which is the top. We need to eradicate shaming people to silence, most especially women. Women are held in high esteem. “You can’t show to the world that you are heartbroken, you can’t show to the world that your marriage is not perfect because people would look at you and think there is something wrong with you. But there is nothing wrong with that person. “She is walking through life. She is becoming what she is supposed to be. It is important that we unmask ourselves, let go off this tradition because people die in silence. There is more to life than the shame.” A psychoanalytic criticism of On becoming by Toke Makinwaplay A psychoanalytic criticism of On becoming by Toke Makinwa (Bella Naija) Makinwa's recently released must-tell book, "On Becoming", revealed the hell she endured in her marriage since finding out about her husband's betrayal in impregnating his longtime girlfriend, Anita Solomon. All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah (Psalm 66:4). In my life, I have had the honor and opportunity to lead worship in many different settings. From Camp Meetings, Conferences, Youth Rallies, Campus Ministries, mid-week Bible Studies, and prayer meetings, to church on Sundays. I’ve seen and experienced a lot. To all my worship leader friends out there, don’t be discouraged. God is using you to make a difference in the lives of His people. We know what it feels like to miss the key change and feel foolish, give the wrong sign and be embarrassed, or sing your heart out and feel like everyone is just watching you for mere entertainment purposes. In the midst of the chaos, feelings of inadequacy, and time management, I want to remind you that what you do is Biblical, and is making a world of difference in your church and in your district. And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army… (2 Chronicles 20:21). When the armies raged against King Jehoshaphat, the Bible says he only did one thing. If you were to listen it would not sound like what you would expect it to sound like. You would not hear the sharpening of spears, the building of shields, or the wielding of swords, you would only hear appointed singers stepping out in front of an army of thousands determined to destroy them. And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten (2 Chronicles 20:22). Never forget the importance of your appointed music ministry. God intends to use your WORSHIP to turn the armies of the enemy against one another. God will fight our battles for us! I would like to quickly mention five mistakes every worship leader makes. How do I know? I know because I’ve made every single one of these mistakes at some point in my music ministry. Here we go! 1. THE PRESSURE MISTAKE Don’t put so much pressure on yourself! It is common for a passionate and good-hearted worship leader to feel like the buck stops with them. They feel like a failure if people refuse to enter into the presence of God. Guess what? The buck doesn’t stop with you. Whatever the sword called “PRAISE” can’t cut through will be pierced by an even sharper two-edged sword, the Word of God! Don’t be so hard on yourself! 2. THE HINDERANCE MISTAKE …he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow (Psalm 147:18). Praise, Worship, and the Word have a way of melting the hardest of hearts. When the winds of the Spirit begin to blow you have to be prayed up, and ready to flow. Let’s face it, if you’re a Pentecostal church, things probably won’t go as planned. Beware of sticking to the “Order of Service”. There are times when the Holy Ghost wants to take over, and the worship leader can determine the life or death of that service. Are you HELPING the flow or HINDERING it? 3. THE ARROGANCE MISTAKE Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). At some point, you had a great worship service and somebody made your day with compliments, but believe me, there’s nothing worse than an arrogant Worship Leader. Arrogance cannot lead anyone into the presence of God. Don’t make this mistake, you’ll be humbled very soon if you do… trust me. 4. THE LONE RANGER MISTAKE Being out front all the time can make you feel secluded and isolated. Don’t separate yourself from your praise team/musicians/choir! You need them and they need you. We’re leading people into worship TOGETHER! I have no desire to go into battle by myself, do you? 5. THE “EVERYTHING OR NOTHING” MISTAKE Some worship leaders like slow songs. Some like fast songs. I have often seen what I call “Everything or nothing” worship leaders. These types of Worship Leaders think if every song isn’t a shout down, red-faced, stomp the devil, worship service that they didn’t actually have church that day. Some are reversed and feel every service should be a Kari Jobe, cry your eyes out, fall on your face worship session. ALL these things are necessary, but let us not forget human nature and moderation. If God wants the Worship service to go a certain way, get out of the way, and let God have His way. Plan for everything, but just because EVERYTHING didn’t happen, doesn’t mean NOTHING happened. God works in many ways on the hearts of His people through WORSHIP. What would you add to this list? https://aimtoget.com/board/Others/5-Mistakes-Every-Worship-Leader-Makes.454.html

https://a1000laff.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/img-20130824-02851.jpg . Two weeks ago, I was about to prepare lunch for my family, when I took out a fresh Titus fish from the freezer. Suddenly my one year five months old daughter who stood by watching, started crying and demanding that I give her the fish to eat. I kept trying to tell her in my own way that the fish was raw, I needed to spice it up, cook and then take out the bones so it can be ready for consumption, but my toddler wouldn’t hear but chose to cry louder and even fell to the ground and no one was able to comforther. I decided to ignore her, went ahead to do what was right and when it was ready, she had her fish and didn’t even remember all the drama she had put up. But the Holy Spirit ministered to me that this is how many of us cry for a blessing that is not yet ready. God is saying I’m spicing it up, cooking it and taking out the bones so you don’t get choked. If only my little daughter knew, she would have waited patiently instead of being anxious. (Phil.4:6) God is saying to someone here that you should be anxious for nothing, Be still and know that I am God. I am spicing up that blessing so you will enjoy to the fullest. Wait on the Lord! (Is.40:31). Like Job said .. *All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change comes.* (Job 14:14) Change is coming, Help is on the way. . By A Guest Writer . So the weekend is here again and you’re naturally excited about it, even though you don’t necessarily have anything planned out. It’s going to be a very chilled one and you’re a little lost on what you might do to make it slightly less boring instead of lazying the two days away. https://naijaloaded-14fckyzftwhxrd5ctbau.stackpathdns.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/B_07Nz4VAAA2O_7.jpg Here’s a few things you could try to get yourself ready for the coming week. 1. Exercise Walk, run, jog, do simple stretches in your living room, anything. Your body will certainly thank you for this, and you’ll probably be making it a routine – if your lazy bum ever gets tired of nagging about the minor sores you will feel afterwards. 2. Try some DIY There are loads of fun DIYs out there that you’ll be glad you did, from home supplies to gadget-friendly tools like phone cases. Can’t think of any that you really need? Surf the net, there’s lots of suggestions out there. 3. Cleaning1 I bet you’ve postponed that house cleaning you’ve been wanting to do one too many times. Take this weekend as the perfect time to get your space back in order. 4. Research Do some research. OMG. Read and feed your mind with some new information that might prove useful to you at work or school. Remember, no knowledge is ever wasted. 5. Have a few hours nap After that really long week, your body will probably be begging for a few hours rest in between working and always being on the road. Go ahead and indulge it. Remember not to overdo it though, as sleeping too much sometimes leaves the body feeling little too lazy and unwilling to do much. 6. Watch a movie Sometimes, all you need is a good laugh, and what better way to get that than seeing your favourite actors deliver an interesting movie script perfectly? 7. Learn how to cook a new dish That amazing dish you recently watched on TV ad have been planning on trying your hand at? It’s time to get the recipe out and try preparing it. You’ll be sure glad you did. 8. Dance to your favorite song Let your hair down, play your favorite song and let yourself have fun for a few hours. Not only will you have fun, but your body will feel a lot better from all the week’s hard work. https://aimtoget.com/board/Health/Wao-Checkout-Top-8-Things-You-Should-Do-This-Weekend.444.html |
1. When the car is nice and big and the road is smooth, you’re like: 2. When you’re in charge of the aux cord so the jams are all the ones you like. 3. When your friends are in the car with you and the bants are overflowing. 4. When someone brings out correct snacks and drinks. 5. When you don’t have to worry about doing any work or deadlines while on the ride. 6. When you drive past beautiful scenery! 7. When you stop to stretch your feet and end up doing a photo shoot for social media. 8. When you’re not driving so you can sleep. 9. When there are no traffic stops or police barricades. Here are 14 things successful people do (or should be doing) on weekends: 1. Make time for family and friends. This is especially important for those who don’t spend much time with their loved ones during the week. 2. Exercise. Everyone needs to do it, and if you can’t work out 4 to 5 days during the workweek, you need to be active on weekends to make up for some of that time, Vanderkam says. It’s the perfect opportunity to clear your mind and create fresh ideas. https://blogs-images.forbes.com/jacquelynsmith/files/2014/07/gym1-300x210.jpg?width=960 “I know an owner of a PR firm who takes walks in the park with his dog to spark ideas about how to pitch a new client, or what angle to take with the press for a story,” Kurow says. Cohen suggests spin classes and outdoor cycling in the warmer months. “Both are energizing and can be organized among people with shared interests. For example, it is not uncommon for hedge fund folks and Wall Street professionals to ride together on weekends. It is a great way to establish and cultivate relationships based on membership in this elite professional community.” 3. Pursue a passion. “There’s a creative director of a greeting card company who went back to school to pursue an MFA because of her love of art,” Kurow says. “Pursuing this passion turned into a love of poetry that she now writes on weekends.” “Successful people make time for what is important or fun,” Egan adds. “They make space for activities that add to their life balance.” 4. Vacation. Getting away for the weekend provides a great respite from the grind of an intense week at work, Cohen says. 5. Disconnect. The most successful people avoid e-mail for a period of time, Vanderkam says. “I’m not saying the whole weekend, but even just a walk without the phone can feel liberating. I advocate taking a ‘tech Sabbath.’ If you don’t have a specific religious obligation of no-work time, taking Saturday night to mid-day Sunday off is a nice, ecumenical time that works for many people.” 6. Volunteer. “I know a commercial real estate broker who volunteers to help with cook-off events whose proceeds are donated to the Food Bank,” Kurow says. “The volunteer work provides a balance to the heavy analytical work she does all week and fulfills her need to be creative — she designs the promotional material for the nonprofit.” Cohen says a lot of successful people participate in fundraising events. “This is a great way to network and to meet others with similar interests,” he says. “The visibility also helps in branding a successful person as philanthropic.” 7. Avoid chores. Every weekend has a few have-to-dos, but you want these to take the minimum amount of time possible, Vanderkam explains. Create a small window for chores and errands, and then banish them from your mind the rest of the time. 8. Plan. “Planning makes people more effective, and doing it before the week starts means you can hit Monday ready to go, and means you’ll give clear directions to the people who work for you, so they will be ready to go, too,” Vanderkam says. Trunk agrees. She says successful people plan their month and year because “if you get stuck on short-term lists you don’t get anything big accomplished.” 9. Socialize. “Humans are social creatures, and studies of people’s experienced happiness through the day finds that socializing ranks right up there, not too far down below sex,” Vanderkam says. https://blogs-images.forbes.com/jacquelynsmith/files/2014/07/social-300x210.jpg?width=960 Go out with friends and family, or get involved in the local community. “It has been demonstrated that successful people find great satisfaction in giving back,” Cohen says. “Board membership, for example, also offers access to other successful folks.” 10. Gardening/crafts/games/sports/cooking/cultural activities. This is especially important for those cooped up in an office all week. “For the pure joy, some folks find great satisfaction in creating beautiful gardens,” Cohen says. Kurow knows an attorney who uses her weekends to garden and do mosaics and tile work to satisfy her creative side. “Filling her life this way enables her to be refreshed on Monday and ready to tackle the litigation and trial prep work. Artwork for her is fulfilling in a way that feeds her soul and her need to connect with her spiritual side.” Bridge lessons and groups can also sharpen the mind and often create relationships among highly competitive smart professionals, Cohen says. “I once saw a printout of a bridge club’s membership list; its members were a who’s who of Wall Street.” Theatre, opera and sporting events can also enrich one’s spirit, he adds. 11. Network. “Networking isn’t an event for a successful person, it’s a lifestyle,” Trunk says. Wherever they go and whatever they do, they manage to connect with new people. https://blogs-images.forbes.com/jacquelynsmith/files/2014/07/recharge-300x210.jpg?width=960 12. Reflect. Egan says truly successful people make time on weekends to appreciate what they have and reflect on their happiness and accomplishments. As Rascoff said, “weekends are a great chance to reflect and be more introspective about bigger issues.” 13. Meditate. Classes and private instruction offer a bespoke approach to insight and peace of mind, Cohen says. “How better to equip yourself for success in this very tough world?” 14. Recharge. We live in a competitive world, Vanderkam says. “Peak performance requires managing downtime, too–with the goal of really recharging your batteries.” That’s how the most successful people get so much done. Successful people know that time is too precious to be totally leisurely about leisure, Vanderkam concludes. “You’re not going to waste that time by failing to think about what you’d like to do with it, and thus losing the weekend to TV, puttering, inefficient e-mail checking and chores. If you don’t have a busy workweek, your weekend doesn’t matter so much. But if you’re going from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, it certainly does.” http://aimtoget.com/board/Education-/Here-Are-14-Things-Successful-People-Do-On-Weekends.350.html |
1. Men, can you please stop peeing anywhere you see? Why are we seeing like a hundred joysticks a day? Why? 2. Also men, can you please stop stretching your sweaty hands on the danfo seat? This is not your father’s car, though. 3. People, STOP STARING! Do Nigerians know looking like lucozade is rude? 4. Akara women, stop using your hands to pick our food! What is that nonsense? 5. Traders everywhere, please stop dragging us innocent passers by. Eko and Yaba boys are so guilty of this. 6. What of all the people that will be coughing in our mouths in public? Spreading the millions of germs and viruses! 7. And all those buka people selling rice and small stew, mind yourself! Okay, this has nothing to do with etiquette, but WHY are you ‘managing’ stew ![]() 8. Special shout out to all those who quietly release gas in public places and carry on as if it is acceptable: The Worst! 9. As for people that use public toilets and don’t flush, your case is on another level. But who asked you?
