As a result of widespread disaffection and rebellion by members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance arising fro the botched primaries conducted by the party executives where aspirants for various political positions suffered wide scale extortion by the executives only for the party tickets to be given to the highest bidders.

Majority of party members have vowed not to engage in party primaries until the Chairman of the Party Chief Victor Oye either resigns or is removed.

As the party’s presidential flag off campaign draws near, the Party leadership for fear that the event might be scantily attended is now offering 10,000 Naira per person for rally attendance

APGA is presently in bad shape in Anambra State, the only state which the party controls following the scandalous primaries conducted by the party executives. There is a revolt in the state House of Assembly which has led to the impeachment of the speaker with the Governor himself facing possible impeachment.

There is a general consensus within the party members that for peace to return to the party, the party chairman must resign for incompetence and unparalleled corruption. The various investigative panels set up by the party have also recommended as such.

In her latest press statement, Bianca Ojukwu, Nigeria’s former ambassador to Spain, and wife of the late Igbo leader and Supreme leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chief Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu berated the APGA party executives following the party’s botched primaries thus:

Yes, The Party is supreme, but should this really be the case where Equity, good conscience, justice and compassion are thrown to the winds and party members are treated with such rank brutality and impunity by those very leaders whose duty it is to protect them? It is St. Augustine who once said that ‘In the absence of justice, what is Sovereignty but Organized Robbery?’

Any attempts at meaningful reconciliation by the Leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance under whose watch these gross violations occurred must begin with ensuring that justice is delivered to those aspirants who have suffered greatly and have been robbed of their mandate... Those victims who won their primary elections and were duly issued Certificates of Return, only later to have these same Certificates Of Return forcibly taken from them and handed over to the heavy buyers who lost, or even worse, never participated in the primary elections.
Equity and good conscience demands that these mandates must be handed back to their rightful owners.

Furthermore, those who superintended over these sham primaries should set an example, if they are truly sincere, by REFUNDING back to aggrieved aspirants the mind boggling sums of money exacted from them for botched and phantom primaries.

Very Importantly, an independent Truth and Justice Committee must be set up urgently to investigate the electoral atrocities that occurred in Imo State and elsewhere, and those responsible should be unveiled.

This is the pathway to justice, and the only way that we can redeem the image of this party, rebuild any confidence in its leadership presently perceived to be compromised, and stem the impending tide of litigations threatening to cripple APGA as we head towards the general elections

It was a colourful and memorable celebration for Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the Igbo Leader and former Nigeria Ambassador to Spain and Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation as her daughter graduated today from the University of Brighton with a 2:1 in Business Administration from the University of Brighton, United Kingdom. It was a family affair which ended up with a seaside treat at the Brighton pier.
